Oh I wasn't born and raised here, I moved out here, after several cross country moves, about 8 years ago at my daughters suggestion, after she moved out here a few years earlier. I'll have to ask Ed Powers if he knows your sister, as he also was a teacher, now retired.

    ? the picture disappeared?

  • Loofah sponges are not from the ocean. Apparently they grow and are harvested so no harm in using those :-)

I would really appreciate that . . . a truckload of appreciation. My sister got kicked out at age 16 by our step-monster. Put on a train with 20 bucks to South Dildo. Took up nursing as a trainee in a mental hospital, to avoid being homeless and saved enough to get masters and bachelors in teaching. When I showed up just before she died. people thought I was her. But she hid the fact she had siblings. Jessie & Junior Drover are relatives who live near you. Good people. Kind hearts. And I did similar to you just in the opposite direction. Multiple cross country moves until I was as far away from winter snow storms, as I could get . . . here in Southern California. But I do love Newfoundland.

LOL Catherine, I checked into growing loofah's over a year ago and there are easier ways to do it then the video you posted and can make extra money if you're interested and have a place to grow them. Also you can harvest the seeds so you don't have to buy them again.

ArtAngel next time I run into the neighbor I'll ask him.

Yes, after I watched the one, then YT presented several more videos on the same topic. Apparently the climate here is not very good for these plants and as I'm in an apt, I do not have the space to grow them. So, at least I can purchase and use them knowing we're not harming the ocean's wildlife.

  • Well, I know how much gruesome monsters are loved by many in here so here's a little treat that nature has:

Surinam Toad's young hatching out of her back, yes her back.

Me too. In my book Discarded, a memoir about my 5th husband, the custom adobe house we built inr. Victoria BC, was created from inspiring drives thru Utah. His parents were Jehova Witness ministers, who lived in Utah.

It stood out like a sore thumb amongst the other Victorian styled homes in the subdivision.

I think the house looks just fine and the neighbor who might know you sister is currently in Nova Scotia so can't ask if he knew her till he gets back.

We're thinkers so that's okay. It's like, "why should I ever want to when I can sit on a chair and not risk breaking every bone in my body" lol ....

I used to be a long time gym member and in good muscular shape, but at about age 50 I knew the end was coming when the gym initiated a new policy of having members do a test like that in the above video clip, to asses one's "fitness".  I couldn't do it.sad  Shortly after that my job went away and so did my gym membership(and house & motorcycle).  These days(25 years later), a walk to the grocery store (two blocks away) completely tuckers me out, 'specially on the way back carrying two bags.frown  So I huff & puff, but still couldn't blow even a stick house down.indecision

Between Swans and Canada Geese, humans stand no chance in a war lol

Guardians of land, water and air! They've been known [and filmed] attacking drones in the skies too.

The babies are cute though and infuriate their parents when they gather around whoever has food to feed them lol ...

My late dad could call the Canada Geese down from the sky when he wanted to.

Camels are rather unique critters. They can drink sea water for eg.
