@Totte #1 Good one! The stocks are appropriate. Out heyah we have a medieval restaurant that serves you in the twilight.
Not sure if they re trying to hide the food or the serving wenches.
#2 Bet that guy on the wheel was caught using a cell phone. and all the stocks were already full. Good one!
#3 Love the water effects. That dude must know someone like WR Hearst to have a swimming pool that large.
#4 Lol! clowns and smelly balloons! Good one! I heard of people putting perfume in balloons.
whether they threw them at only smelly people or everyone, i m not sure.

@kaz42 #1 ahhh! the alien bar with the denizens who are wanted or rather not wanted in many galaxies. nicely done!
#2 I hope Aiko is charging a good rate for dog walking. although maybe she should be paying the owners
for helping her learn to fly. Good one!

luci45 #1 They certainly picked the right person to show them and tell them everything about disasters.
The apocalypse museum should be located in l.a. that way graveline tours can put it on their itinerary. Good one!
#2 Aval Naval... I love it!
#3 I guess the first thing that a tightrope walker has to learn is how to fall well. and he appears to have mastered it. Nicely done!

barbult #1 Bet the salt water and the sand eat up the metal on that bike. Good one!

KaribousBoutique #1 Love the color! If Jabba the Hut sees her he ll add her to his entourage.

Abendwind #1 I like how the sunset is gradually turning all the buildings pink. Well done!

    Return of the Prince
"It is the dearest wish of my heart. It is the only thing that I must do before I leave this world," said Prince Randle who waited in vain for the throne that his mother would not vacate. And so it was that in his waning years the prince returned to the Chateau de l'Oisiveté, where he had idled away many a long weekend during his university days. His new bride, Pricess Rosilda was apalled by something, maybe the powdered sugar on the breakfast. The Prince was appalled by the view out the window. When did all this change? The bellboy/chef/manager was appalled by the prince's cheesy tip, especially so as the guy dressed in those "golden threads." What he did not realize was that the prince lived on a limited budget, but had to maintain his standards of dress. (Thanks to MelanieL for that last bit.)

A slight delay in posting my first entry....

I killed my computer last night. Well, maimed it, at least.

I spilled a drink on the keyboard. (And yes, before anyone asks, it was, in point of fact, a Martini.) Unfortunately, it was one of those laptops in which the keyboard also serves as the primary vent, to dissipate heat. Consequently, for all practical purposes, I fried the keyboard. Not every key, of course; just the ones that matter: Enter, Backspace, a few others.

I replaced it this morning. And then, within the space of twenty minutes, I had to replace the replacement. (I got it home, unpacked it, and found that the screen was cracked. So..., back to Best Buy....)

Anyway, with a copy of Laplink's PC Mover in hand, I will be spending the night porting the system image of my 'wounded' machine to the new one. And it's probably going to take all night.

And I was, like, ninety-percent done with the render!

As they say (well, as I say), 'Timing is everything...!'

Maybe you should drink DRY martinis. (Sorry, that was lame.) I am sorry to hear that you lost your computer and render, though. At least you are tech-savvy enough to recover from this disaster.

Um, it WAS a dry Martini. (I adhere to the Winston Churchill recipe: 'Pour the vodka over ice in the shaker, while looking at the vermouth bottle on the other side of the room'.

But the render isn't lost; the (old) machine is still mostly functional; I can boot it, and connect it to my network. I can recover everything from it. It's just going to take a while. (I do, after all, have some 300+ gigabytes of content to retrieve from it -- and even with 'fast' Ethernet, that takes time.)

On the up-side, though, the new machine does have a faster, more high-end processor, a dedicated graphics processor, with its own memory (no more sharing system RAM), and the same amount of RAM and disk space. Same screen size, too. So it's actually something of a half-assed upgrade.

Oh, and this time, I shelled out for the two-year 'protection plan' -- just in case I do something so incandescently stupid again. (A probability approaching unity, that.)

    It even covers Martini-induced 'brain-farts'.

...I know the feeling, I lost notebook to a glass of fine Chardonnay which not only spilled on the keyboard but got into the vent frotzing the MB. Fortunately was able to recover everything off the HDD.

I need to improve my choice of computer-ruining liquids. When my twins were about 5, I (stupidly) had my laptop on the kitchen table where I (also stupidly) had the ingredients for making a cake. My dear son accidentally knocked over the bottle of cooking oil which (once again, stupidly) I had not properly screwed the cap upon. Needless to say, cooking oil is not a conductor, and the computer was pretty much toasted. Well, fried, technically. I was able to recover the HDD also, since it was buried under the video card.

Turn a Profit with the Platinum Club
In 2055, long after the death of the Internet, a now geriatric Jack continued to host the Platinum Club Anniversary Bash in the basement of the Trinity Atrium. In an attempt to turn the first ever profit, Jack had expanded Platinum Club membership to the intergalactic community. In spite of numerous extra +'s added to the club name over the years, few things had changed. Forum members continued to squawk in Jack's ear about what they thought the sale should consist of. And yes, that Carnival Bundle was still offered year after year.

[ I haven't had this much fun roasting someone since I rendered Ken in his pajamas at the breakfast counter. You know, they say you only tease people you like. I hope Jack takes no offense. I have only respect and admiration for his efforts with the PC.]

You made me think of this classic joke:
A Roman walks into a bar and asks for a martinus.
Do you mean Martini, the barman replied.
No, said the Roman. If I wanted a double I would have asked.

Thanks for the comments, Kyoto Kid. Ken, sorry about your computer woes. I've had my share this month. I finally got a chance to look through the thread. There is so much excellent work. I apologize if I forgot anyone.

Abendwind 1 - Some Good Old Fashioned Cop Car Carnage - great job creating the water splash and the gun-flash.

luci45#2 - Chasm Jump - So whimsical! And of course her boyfriend is Evil Knevel (I spelled it wrong). I love the way the mountains in the background are in the clouds.

MelanieL#1 - Learn Swordfighting from an Expert - Great job with the poses. Looks very natural, especially the watcher by the vase on the left.

emsim #1 - No Quiet Place to Talk - LOL, no matter where we go, someone is going to be on their dang phone! Nice job using the shaders for the "missiles."

MelanieL#2 - Go On Safari - another great job on the poses, but this time I mean the animals. And the birds are a nice touch.

Dumor3D 1? - My First Car! - I like how you set the lighting and the atmosphere to match the criminal theme.

luci45 #3 - Tightrope Walker - nice one - great humor and the expressions are terrific.

barbult #1 - Title: Sunset ride on Daytona Beach during Bike Week - everything just fits, great job!

Totte#2 - Watch a Trikini Brothers Action Circus performance - LOL, the skeletons are very spiffy.

Abendwind 2 - Solution: The Strange One - So moving. I could never have thought of that with the pull you got. Well done.

Totte#3 - Take a missed friend to play with toys in the bath - Well, at least you got the bath with a steamer instead of an airplane. Nice sentiment and excellent render.

Dumor3D - Slay a Dragon - Easy for you to say! I like your choice for applying the shaders. Pool is a good touch.

MorganRLewis #1 - A Moment Alone - Doesn't look like this affair will be brief. Excellent expressions. He knows he is in trouble.

zarcondeegrissom - The Daz3D Strange Substance Undergarment Armor. - Are they available on Amazon? Free shipping? I'm still laughing.

Totte#3 - Prank late evening commuters at the subway station - Are you responsible for the carzy clown news coming out of France? I don't know where you get these ideas, but they are hilarious.

Gopherus #1: Dreaming of the Tambourine Man - a beauiful dream indeed. I like how the dreamer is propped up rather than sprawled out.

luci45#4 - Return of the Prince - - I love how your renders always have little extra touches everywhere. The cat is tremendous.
