Jonathan is great as a base for creating custom characters.

Really nice work.  He deserves a better tux, though.

This guy looks really nice and, in my opinion, what could be a real spy. In real life, I think that's what they should look like, to blend in, not some Pierce Brosnan type who will stand out and attract attention.

One suggestion, if I may, to make him even more badass: I think if you raise his outer eye a little and/or lower his inner brows. He looks a little too kind hearted for this line of work (although looks can be deceiving :) ).

Now concerning the Tuxedo, looking closely at it, remebles even less a tuxedo. Where is the collar, where are the pockets, the lines from the shoulders are barely visible and clearly there just for show as it isn't where the jacket creases. This is the closest tuxedo I found to the one created : https://vangils.xcdn.nl/OQ92_RM600,600/-/catalog/product/W/1/W11982_73_2.jpg  and it is still pretty far away. Don't even get me started to how I can't find a shirt that has a starched collar (as most shirt collars are supposed to be). They all look very compliant and body fitting, at least the ones I have.

Sometimes I think that whoever does clothing, especially more complicated pieces should have an understanding of how that clothing is made and functions.

I've been thinking about becoming a PA and creating items for the store but clothing is not something I'm thinking about right now especially for this. I feel I don't have the experience or the knowledge right now to create the right weight maps and rigging for it.

blew it ..forgot to check out wiht the Jonathan HD ...now the price is 4x higher. a game changer for sure.... my entire cart went up a lot from yesterday. I had the Pro bundle, HD, plus two adds and it went up by nearly $15.

snooze you lose around here ...

Same here.  I've had a busy work week, so I loaded up the cart but didn't manage to get back to it on launch day.  Just logged in now to complete the purchase and the price has gone up.  Annoyingly, the HD odd-on does not count as one of the two add-ons you need for the free $50 of items.

Any time I've spoken to a sales rep on the phone for work, if I'm told, "This offer is only valid for today though", my reply is usually, "Thank you for your time then, but we won't be buying without time to consult other staff."  Same thing goes here - I'm sure I can pick up the base figure in another sale at some point down the road.

Thanks for the extra renders, @Artini. Tell me that you're using his HD Add-On. You've given us an Everyman. He's a real character actor. He's the main detective's partner, or the squad captain, or the district attorney, or the heroine's "best friend" who secretly pines for her. Now that I think of it, this guy added to Christian 8 might get us that much closer to Clive Owen in his glory days.

Thanks a lot for the comments.

Yes, I have used his HD Add-On, as I got it cheaply on the sale.

Thanks a lot. I do not have any other tux for him, at the moment.

I you find some good looking tux, please let me know.

Thank a lot, for such an extended comments.

Wonder, if I could kitbash some add-ons for the tuxedo.

Would be nice to have some generic add-ons for any cloth.

I know, it would require some expertise from the brave content creator, though.

Here is a Kai. I changed the lower part of his nose a bit. The eyes on all the characters based on Jonathan seem really deep set.

I would definitely date him! Actually, with the expression I gave him, he looks kind of like a guy I did date in college lol!

That's definitely way more representative of the Jonathan character than the Nicholas promos used for both the starter and pro bundles. I'd go as far as suggesting that Daz should replace both the store images and the product icons within Daz Studio with something like yours, that doesn't use the Nicholas add-on. Chances are, that once I could really use Jonathan, that I have a hard time finding him in my Smart Content because of his current misrepresentation.

Thanks a lot for the comments, Drip.

This is however a custom character, made out of Jonathan 8 and I have also used his HD add-on on him.

I am very happy, that people likes him.

Not sure how long he will be friendly with the scorpion-mech attack coming, but his friends are on the job.

I thought Gordon looks like Henry Cavill. Not super impressed with the other character, but I'm in the minority. I think it looks toonish.

@Artini and @Wonderland, I really liked your renders.

Artini, the tux is what it is and you did a fine job with what you had to work with.

Wonderland, I agree that Kai is pretty sweet. He also reminds me of a guy in my high school French class the way you have protrayed him. Very fine.

I don't think anyone was criticising Arini's render of the tux. I at least, was just sad that yet again the clothes come in not the best of quality. I actually think his render of the tux looks better than the promo renders for the tux textures, which look terrible.

On another note, I think today is the last day that Jonathan8 is kind of worth it during the MM sale, right?

Cause afterwards the bundle and the add-ons will exit the still mad category and the discounts will drop considerably.

    Thanks, Mary and Alex.

I have had to remove all maps from the shirt and to tweak the settings on the tux,

because I did not like their default looks.

Still missed to fix some settings on the buttons, though.

Daz might keep them as still mad longer than for "regular" items, they often do it for bundles released during big sales.

Any idea which female character would look good together with him?

I'd suggest Lilith 8, we just need Daz to support that option.
In her absency, I'd suggest Zelara (human), Monique or Alexandra.

Zelara is the youngest and frailest of the three, but still has a weathered enough appearance to give a mature impression.
Monique lookes mature, but also strong in a lean, graceful manner. I'm sure you could make a Grace Jones from View to a Kill out of her.
Alexandra is the oldest, but also lean and muscled enough to keep up with your character most of the time, and in the rare case she can't keep up, compensate with experience.

To be fair, though, James Bond is basically the worst spy that's even theoretically possible.

Yes, but she doesn't really click as a bond-girl. The Sydney 8 Melinda HD addon by Emrys might work though.

Come to think of it, Melinda actually has similar ears and eyes to Jonathan. That makes me wonder whether Emrys is perhaps the artist behind Jonathan 8?

I would say the base isn't terrible, just kind of an odd choice to hype as an action hero, with tuxes, gun poses, Hawkeye-as-Ronin cosplay, etc. The name and the kind of nerdy everyman physique/looks make me think of some of the less "pretty boy" takes on Jonathan Harker from Dracula.

Calling him Daniel would have been too blatant, I guess...

And I quite like the base, myself.

I am second to none in my dislike of Daniel Craig and my refusal to acknowledge him as anything special in the looks department, but I really don't think Jonathan looks much like him, except maybe the ears.

It's been 25 years; it's time to forgive him for A Kid in King Arthur's Court and move on.

Heh, but no, I don't find him appealing as Bond. Brosnan and Dalton projected toughness at a performance level* about as well as he does, they just didn't get the credit for it because they were actually good-looking.

*Craig seems to do more of his own stunts and works harder on the fight scenes, I'll give him that, but if that's all you want from Bond you might as well cast Jason Statham.

Dalton yes, defintely, the man just had the misfortune to get cast as Bond when the distributor was in deep financial doo-doo, but he was an excellent Bond despite inheriting a script written for Moore on his first film.  Brosnan... no.  Like Roger Moore, he was never really convincing in the more athletic scenes, let alone hand to hand combat and his increasing insistance on scenes to showcase his acting will ultimately lead to him being remembered as the depressed and weepy Bond.  As for anyone who still thinks Brosnan didn't need to go when he did, just look at how much the man has aged in the years since Casino Royale.  The Bond producers had already had the experience of working with a increasingly geriatric Bond with the last few Roger Moore vehicles and Casino Royale was definitely the optimum point for a re-boot.

Oh, and after seeing Jason Statham's take at playing "not Bond" in SPY, I'd kinda like to see him get a crack at real thing. The man CAN act, he's just not asked to do it often enough. Definitely a better choice than some of the other names that are being tossed around right now, though if the new film, No Time To DIe, does well after being pushed back to November at the last minute, I'm willing to bet Craig will be back for at least one no matter what his publicist says.  I think every Roger Moore film after Moonraker was going to be his "last" one, yet he kept coming back until they were holding his walker off camera in A View To A Kill.

Someone in another thread asked what Kai looks like without Jonathan so here's a render of that. I did add a little expression to him. Mostly he looks a bit younger and vulnerable maybe, but he still looks amazing! Thank you @Hinkypunk for such a great character!

    Also he renders really fast!

It's pretty rare, to see people speaking positive of Dalton, while I do think he did a great job at it. In my opinion, the last "upperclass gentleman" Bond.

Thanks for bothering, @memcneil70. You certainly rehabilitated Nicholas' image, at least with me. Kai puts me in the mind of M3. Maybe some HD will bring him out of that.

I love Gordon HD for Jonathan 8!!!

I honestly tried the tux, using the brown materials, but ... no, it was just not to be. Terrible.

So, I went back to the Iron Wasp outfit that when I tried it on another character in another pose split its crotch, so I gave it up then. But it worked, and with the pose I used, I found my superhero, who wears glasses.

    Mary

Thank you @xyer0, it has been fun.
