Jonathan reminds me of a guy I knew who used to sell electronics and vacuum cleaners.  I wonder how DAZ got a picture of him?  (In other words, sometimes I think the resemblence between the figures and the celebrities that people see resemblences to are just as likely to be a coincidence.)

@xyer0 "If, perhaps, you could be bothered to render him in CU, I could justify the extra $6."

I am not sure what 'CU' is. If you can explain I will try, but will need to set the character up again. I didn't save as a scene file. Or is it 'Close-up?'

CU = Cute Underwear  I recommend this one for testing G8M characters:  https://www.daz3d.com/show-your-bra-2-for-genesis-8-female-s

https://www.daz3d.com/jepe-s-double-feature-leo-plus-madoc Jepe's Leo is a good Cavill, he even included an eye texture with Henry's heterochromia.

Another week, another 8 character. I'm glad Genesis 9 hasn't come along yet, but this is starting to get a little silly.

Why do you feel like it's starting to get silly?

As someone else stated in another thread this isn't pokemon, got to catch them all.

If you like it you buy it, if not, you skip it.

I for one like to have as many options as possible.

With one caveat, the quality remains high and we don't get another Dain 8 bundle misshap where the clothes aren't usable. I have only 1 outfit installed but can't use it because of the quality and thinking of uninstalling until I have time to fix it or they release a fix for it (sstarting to think it won't happen).

For me the Jonathan bundle looks great as I am making a VN in the spy world so a lot of what the bundle contains fits for me.

I'm not really complaining, but it used to be that when we got a numbered official DAZ release, it was a huge and uncommon event. Stephanie, The Freak, David; it was a long time between releases of these classic characters. Now we seemingly get one every two weeks, and while new textures are always welcome, half of the characters look like they could be dial-spun.

I don't know, I'd just like to see bigger events with these releases and not just a one-day theme. If male and female secret agents and/or a villain were released simultaneously today in an optional bundle along with a hideout or some sort of spy lair, vehicle, etc, I could see it being something to get excited about. Again, this isn't meant to be a complaint, it's just more of a virtual sigh. Another day, another core character.

    Got it.

I joined in December and since tere have been a lot of releases so for me it's more like business as usual :).

I would feel weird if a month passed without a pro bundle released.

The thing is, for us old timers, there was a time when a new Pro Bundle was a much rarer occasion.  There were YEARS between Pro Bundles with the V4 generation and only a handful of big bundles/base characters to begin with.  But with Genesis they started coming more often, with one new base character/pro bundle every month or so.  It ramped up even more with G2 and the number of characters in the line increased significantly, with the most significat additions being ethnic characters and more toon types, and then pace/character count went up yet again with the G3 lineup.  WIth G8, though, DAZ has just gone bonkers and in just two years there have now been more Base characters/Pro Bundles for G8 than for all of the other generations combined. It's just... weird, but clearly that strategy must be working for them.

It's definitely working for me. Last generation, I was struggling to get Genesis 1 & 2 textures to look right in Iray so I would have enough superlative skins. But now, I can limit my main cast to only Genesis 8 Core, with an occasional dip into Genesis 3 for favourites like Ophelia, Kimo, Gia, & Mei Lin. Loved your Cute Underwear joke.

Well, I did a reverse image search on the first promo pic of Jonathan with Yandex, and Yandex seems to think he looks a lot like Geralt of the The Witcher series because Geralt is in a lot of results. Specifically the video game version, but Henry Cavill did show up in a couple of the pics, too. After looking at him, I think that with the beard and scars and proper lighting, he might actually pass at The Witcher 3 Geralt...maybe.

Cavill has a dimple on his chin that Jonathan lacks, so that is a no go. Of course perhaps dial spinning can help, but I don't think Jonathan is that much like him.

This doesn't look anything like the guy in the promos! Is that seriously Jonathan? THIS guy looks pretty cool, like a guy who could actually be a secret agent, somebody who might be dangerous. The store promo pics for Jonathan make him look like some random goofy dude trying to sell you insurance. Serious promo fail Daz! I had exactly zero interest in Jonathan until I saw this pic by memcneil70. Now...I'm considering it. A pic like this should be Jonathan's promo pic, you might sell more of him.

I was going to talk about how Jonathan doesn't look like a Bond to me at all. At least his promos don't. Whether he looks like any particular Bond or not is not the point. The men who have portrayed James Bond all have a special presence to them. When they enter a room, people take notice. The promo pics for Jonathan just don't have a person like that. With this pic here, I get a sense of that presence. It may somewhat brooding and dark, but that would be inline with Craig's Bond. Dalton could be pretty cold and dark too.

Not Jonathan the base character...look up Gordon for Jonathan 8. Totally Heny Cavill.

To each his own, but Nicholas may be the scariest character I've seen since the G8 babies...

At least with Jonathan appearing, I suddenly knew why we get all these cheap, but beautiful women in this march madness. He needs them as staffage! Kind of Bond girls ...

To me most of the characters & add-on characters do look like they are from southeast Europe and Russia so I guess if you are American or British that fits the stereotype very well....spies...spies...spies

Yes, that is Nicholas. And I may have to try a render later today that attempts to show his soft side. I have a friend that when you first see him gives off that same vibe, but when he knows you and lets you see him with his Huskies, he is a warm and friendly person, who loves dogs and kids and is a writer of Sci-Fi and Fantasy.

I decided to wait a little on the Jonathan bundle but pulled the trigger on the HD add-on alone yesterday, just to make sure Ib don't forget. I paid 70 cents more as it was alone in the cart but it was better than risking loosing him.

Oh, so that is Nicholas. What is interesting is that render doesn't really look quite the same as Nicholas, either. The field of view must must be way different, because Nicholas in his promos has a very wide face. The Nicholas in this render has much more sleek face. So which is more correct?

Gordon does favor Cavill a lot more, I do see that.

But we are all talking about the add on characters rather than Jonathan himself. I have never been a fan of getting a DO just for add on characters. Its really getting annoying how often this has been happening. And here, one character is in the bundle, but the other is not. I don't think I'm interested enough in dropping for all of that. That's a bunch of stuff I don't care for just for maybe 1 or 2 items.

Message to Daz...you seriously need to make your bases more interesting and stop being over shadowed by the add ons.

And maybe Daz should slow down to releasing one major DO per month in order to focus on the quality and offer around it. These are art assets, not bakery goods.

I would say the base isn't terrible, just kind of an odd choice to hype as an action hero, with tuxes, gun poses, Hawkeye-as-Ronin cosplay, etc. The name and the kind of nerdy everyman physique/looks make me think of some of the less "pretty boy" takes on Jonathan Harker from Dracula.

Calling him Daniel would have been too blatant, I guess...

And I quite like the base, myself.

I am second to none in my dislike of Daniel Craig and my refusal to acknowledge him as anything special in the looks department, but I really don't think Jonathan looks much like him, except maybe the ears.

The look is there around the eyes, at least to me, but likeness is very much you see it or you don't (and I've done my fair share of trying to see a likeness others were adamant was there)

I agree that there is some likeness to Craig but I think they failed to capture any of his charm.

Heh, but no, I don't find him appealing as Bond. Brosnan and Dalton projected toughness at a performance level* about as well as he does, they just didn't get the credit for it because they were actually good-looking.

*Craig seems to do more of his own stunts and works harder on the fight scenes, I'll give him that, but if that's all you want from Bond you might as well cast Jason Statham.

Personally, I think Daniel Craig is gorgeous, but I like that rugged cut look.

Well, it took almost six hours to put the render on a 'friendly Nicholas' together. I kind of went a little nuts adding in things that remind me of my friend. Just not as many dragons as he has thought. I also had to go shopping for Merlin's  https://www.daz3d.com/kenjutsu-sword that I thought I had, but did not. The render took over two hours, never showed converged and just finished. It seems a bit grainy. Lights were there, so no clue.

Thanks for going to the trouble, but I can't see his nice guy face. I know, I know.

That's A LOT better, but he still looks more like Ward Cleaver (I had typed "Eldridge," and I thought, "No, that doesn't seem right,") than a badass. That is an engaging-looking, well-morphed fellow, though. I would have appreciated Jonathan 8 a lot more if he had been issued like that. Thanks for your efforts, @Artini, as usual.

Thanks for the extra renders, @Artini. Tell me that you're using his HD Add-On. You've given us an Everyman. He's a real character actor. He's the main detective's partner, or the squad captain, or the district attorney, or the heroine's "best friend" who secretly pines for her. Now that I think of it, this guy added to Christian 8 might get us that much closer to Clive Owen in his glory days.
