Can't say I'm getting much of a James Bond vibe from the guy. He looks more like the cricketer Andy Caddick
to buy the addons to get the free stuff? that is the question. The Jonathan HD + Pro bundle is only $39. I might just hold there as the add ons do not interest me at all. The free stuff I've gone over 10,000 times over the years. There are a couple that are interesting but not sure worth the $10 for 2 adds to me. I like to buy more props though. I wish there were a way to search for props-Iray within the category
I think the reason why I was initially a bit put-off by the character, was the character in the banner and on the store images, which seem to actually be the Nicholas HD morphs, which isn't in the pro-pack at all.
So, overall, Jonathan actually has a great (finally NORMAL) body for a main character, the additional characters in the pro-pack have nice NORMAL heads (there's no way I'm ever going to use those inflated dumb muscle bodies), and there's actually some very nice hairs in the pack as well.
The outfits are somewhat lacking in detail. As others noticed, the folds and seams just aren't great, but, it's not like most other male clothes fare much better in that department. They're actually already an improvement again over many things that came before, so they'll do.
The cheap HD add-on is great, though be aware that it does not qualify as an add-on for the Free $50 Daz Originals, which in turn do not include any Genesis 2 products that could've combined well with the Character Converter (which does count as an add-on), though the Character Converter in turn gives a 30% bonus discount on Genesis 2 Daz originals. It's still confusing, isn't it?
Just an observation. As a nod to Ian Fleming, since we've had 67 years of Bond (the first book was released in 1953), $67 of freebies would have been cool. $50 is better than nothing though!

As a side note, Dr No the movie was released in 1962.
The weak nod to James Coburn with the hair was an interesting touch. The tux is inline with 'Flint' wardrobe, but as noted seems to be a bit lacking in detail r.e. creases, stitch lines and such. The sleeves on the Soldat outfit do have a bit of creasing going on at least.
I'm curious as to whether the shirt in the Soldat outfit has sleeves or not... Derek Flint wears a turtleneck with no jacket for a bit in the 'Flint' series - need to track down a good looking turtleneck with a properly 'folded over' turtleneck collar.
Now I'm off to google a logo for the Zonal Organization for World Intelligence and Espionage (Z.O.W.I.E.)...
It has full length sleeves.
I like his look, but am sadly broke this week, even with the discounts. Will have to wait for the next big pro bundle sale.
Wonder if he'd be a good base for making a pic of John Constantine...
I was really excited when I saw the Tux, then I had a closer look at it... the jacket 'lapels', paper thin, one huge button, no noticeable stitching or seams. If this is dforce I want to go back to conforming male clothes with details. So the search goes on for a realistic classic suit and Tux for G8M
He doesn't knock me out but he's not bad either. Likewise, it's not the greatest Pro Bundle ever, but I've seen far worse and at least every outfit includes a shirt.. Given that the price is okay with the Purple Bar and other discounts and freebies added in and that there's very little in the set that I can't see myself using at some point, it's a defnite pick-up for me. The suit, as others have noted, isn't the best in the DAZ store, but there are far worse, and I'm pretty stoked that I'm finally hitting the point where I can do a render of a formal party and have multiple men in different suits color changes to distinguish them.
It's always nice to get a new male character and I like the spy theme, but Jonathan 8 is not for me.
My very first reaction was: they aimed for Daniel Craig and missed by a mile... to be fair, the longer I look at him the less he looks like Craig, so perhaps that was never the intention.
I do like Kai a lot, but not enough to buy an entire base character just for him. Who knows, perhaps in the far, far future when Jonathan is discounted to 2.99 or something ridiculous like that...
I bought it, even though I am not sure about the "grumpy" baby expressions he seems to have in every picture.
His clothing is what they've been doing for the last 3-4 guy sets, rushed looking, but I will need to take a closer look later. The deal was not great compared to other deals. Got 3 items I had no real interest in for free, so not complaining but not as good as we've seen before.
My guess is that these bundles seemed rushed because they are finishing off the line, and getting ready for something new. They seem half baked and don't have nearly as much content clothing wise as before, even the promos are lacking. I hope to see a return to better presentation and quality items in the future. I'd rather have fewer releases than rushed appearing products.
So glad to see another mature male character and a great discount on the HD add-on.
i might just buy the HD add and save some bucks. I use them on my own churned characters and it works just fine.
Nicholas reminds me of Mark Gatiss, who plays Mycroft Holmes on Sherlock.
Still testing cart prices myself but that looks about what I was being offered too. However I think you could add more of the Daz Originals, you'd qualify for $50 worth.

I'm not really complaining, but it used to be that when we got a numbered official DAZ release, it was a huge and uncommon event. Stephanie, The Freak, David; it was a long time between releases of these classic characters. Now we seemingly get one every two weeks, and while new textures are always welcome, half of the characters look like they could be dial-spun.
I don't know, I'd just like to see bigger events with these releases and not just a one-day theme. If male and female secret agents and/or a villain were released simultaneously today in an optional bundle along with a hideout or some sort of spy lair, vehicle, etc, I could see it being something to get excited about. Again, this isn't meant to be a complaint, it's just more of a virtual sigh. Another day, another core character.
The J8 faces look very different in various promos. Compare the face in the Jonathan 8 page (which I like) vs. the Jonathan Starter Bundle face (which looks off). I overlayed the faces and, even squishing the Jonathan 8 page face, the ears and jaws don't match up well with the Starter Bundle face.

Kai looks awesome and, to me, should have been the main figure. (Sadly, there have been a few bundles like this lately, where the main bundle figure is so-so but the PA add-ons were really good.)
Happily, a lot of the bundle is quite nice. Between the PC+ discount, the purple banner discount, and March Madness, it's well worth it to me. (Even if it turns out that the main character has the Jonathan Starter Bundle face instead of the Jonathan 8 page face.)
I'm guessing they went with that name since the set looks like a clear nod to what Illya Kuryakin wore in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. 2015 film and he was a KGB agent, which was a military service governed by army laws.

Like the character. Yes, he does look like he and Edward are related, but that's only a problem if you never do an illustration with two people together. Most people hang out with people around their own age, after all. Basically, as for "type", yeah, he's another aging leading man rather than a character actor like, say, Floyd. The office worker build is also a plus in that regard. Nice add-ons too. He seems to take expressions fairly well.
I like both the hairs, but am not likely to get any use out of them, since one comes out and tells you it's Iray only, and the other doesn't say anything, which these days usually means Iray only. Bummer.
Admire the SciFi getups, but I don't *do* SciFi, so, not really a selling point. I probably will get use out of Mada's new set, or pieces of it. The tux probably only for characters in the background. Not sorry to have it, but not much likely to use it.
Do appreciate the discount on the HD addon. That's very welcome.
It may be a minority standpoint, but for me, part of the draw of an official numbered base is that, so far, those all still come with 3DL materials. Which is not something that can be counted on from PA characters.

I joined in December and since tere have been a lot of releases so for me it's more like business as usual :).
I would feel weird if a month passed without a pro bundle released.
I do agree with you that it would be nice to have theme releases next to the bundles.
I am however glad that at least Jonathan has a consistent theme throughout the bundle. There are quite a few bundles that feel like a gathering of stuff instead of a themed bundle.
Regarding the looks of the main characters, I feel like a lot of them are not unique or anything compared to releases by good character PAs.
I got to a point where I buy the bundles for the value per product more than for the main character itself. Only exception lately was Dain where I really loved his textures and that was the main reason as the clothes were subpar to say the least. I am still waiting for a correction on them. That reminds me, I should open a ticket about it. Maybe if enough people open tickets they get some kind of fixes.
The bodyguard suit for example doesn't even fit well in a standard pose, nothing special. It's like it was designed for a specific bodytype and all other chars can go screw themselves. (I haven't even installed the rest)
I agree 100%! I was wondering if the "Starter Bundle picture" was Nicholas. But that wouldn't make any sense since Nicholas isn't even part of the Starter Bundle... In any case, a rather unattractive picture in my opinion.
