...I rarely if ever purchase Pro Bundles because they often have content I'd never use.
..same here as I could not justify the cost of buying all the utilities and such all over again to make G8 as useful as G3 because the improvements were so minimal. G3 moved to a more universal weight map from Tri-Ax which made it more versatile. Also so much in the way of G8 clothing and hair content is primarily dForce and I have old hardware which doesn't support it very well.
..so far, I've purchased one PC+item this sale. I am not pleased with the fact that the PC+ pricing offers require buying a new release to trigger the discount which wasn't the case in recent sales.
..missed that first week because my PC+ membership had lapsed back on the 20th. By the time I was able to renew it at a discount and have money in my account, that offer expired.
...
Last week was kinda fun, but this week feels more like a return to March Meh-ness to me. The flash sales, while somewhat decent, weren't particularly special - we've been seeing flash sales at those discount levels for a while now.
Looking at my Johnathan 8 cart, I just am not all that exicted about the other items in my cart currently. I have decent alternatives to that content already, and nothing else is really catching my eye at the moment as far as freebies go. Add to that that just two Pro bundle sales ago we got a BUNCH of stuff relative to the last two, well color me 'meh'... I passed on the last pro bundle sale btw. as the sale just wasn't moving me.
Johnathan 8 is cool and all, but the sale just isn't moving me at the moment.
March is still young, though, so I guess we'll see.
...for myself, if it is exclusively G8, dForce, fantasy/horror based, or skimpwear I don't bother.
i keep putting jonathan 8 in my cart ..the pro bundle comes to $34. Having to buy 2 more items disocunts a bit, but its extra cash to ge tthe "free" items. So i need to spend $50 to get $50 "free" stuff. it seems maybe just to buy the Pro bundle at $34 is a better deal. I guess if money is no object, its all good, but evem spending $34 has me thinking a whole lot, espcecially consdiering the amount of content I already have, and could not use all of it if I lived to be 200 years old.
The 20% off Daz Originals flash coupon did help with the Jonathan freebies, bumping the effective freebie amount to $60, and also helped with one other item in my cart, so I finally pulled the trigger on him. That coupon has been going for waaay more than 4 hours though, so who knows how much longer it'll last.I grabbed some drafting tools props as my 'additional' freebie.
Still feel 'meh' about that deal, but since Jonathan is likely to be a prereq for the extra discounts in MM for a bit, based on the prereqs used up intil now, I guess we'll see how that works out.
I guess it's all a matter of where you're coming from, As someone who started with computers on mainframes with a whopping 20K of memory fed by punchcards, and whose first home computer was a Vic-20, I find memory to be ludicourously cheap these days, especially given that 6TB external hard drives are under $120 and you can find 2TBs for less than $60 and you oguht to be switching out drives every couple of years anyway. And as for too much content... my product library in the DAZ store just clicked over to page 548, yet the most recent thing I bought was a couple of V3 outfits I've been wanting for years. There always seems to be something that I can use somehow, though keeping it all organized is a PITA.
I remember getting way excited when I spotted a 512meg hard drive for $429 on sale ... less than a buck a meg .. unheard of
Yeah, Moore's Law is crazy. My first 1GB USB flash cost over a hundred bucks. @o@ Now I buy at least one new 4TB portable hard drive a year, just for tranporting big video, photo and high security files I don't want to trust to the internet.. They get bounced all over the world under the seats in airplanes and in carrybags, etc., so at less than a hundred a pop, it's so much better to be safe and retire them to storage before everything on them gets accidentally trashed or wiped.
An external 6 TB HD is 159 euros here, and I also keep a backup drive for my runtime, so double that. But not being able to find stuff is as much a factor, or more. But I'll admit I'm a lightweight at a mere 387 pages of content
i only have 145 pages and I feel like I've spent 200 pages too much.
..crikey, you have 50 more pages than I have and I feel I have too much.
It's funny but ever since I think the second day of MM, In take a look at the new offers for like 10 minutes and then wait 12 hours or so until possible flash sales would appear to actually start looking in detail and considering to buy something.
I do this mostly because I feel the MM offers by themselves are rarely good enough to consider alone.
Anyone else doing this?
I do, I feel you just have to - even if products are reduced by 50% or 60%, if you have like 400 items in your wishlist, you've got to try and reduce prices even further. That said, I don't think the MM deals so far were bad by themselves really, I bought a lot of stuff from the featured PAs that I would never have been able to afford so quickly otherwise. On top of that, I just love the recent 20% Flash Sale because it applies to PC+ items as well! Things like this are really quite generous I think.
I loved the first week with the extra coupons the most. Getting 75% on an artist that usually only goes to around 50-60% was precious.
I also have, like you waaay to many items in my wishlist and I bought last week anything that was a priority.
I didn't notice the 20% on the PC+ items but wasn't there a week one or two weeks ago where all PC+ items went to 0.99 or 1.99. I'm sure that 20% can't beat that. I bought all the PC+ items I really needed then.
..missed the first week because I was too broke to take advantage of it as at the end of the month finances are usually pretty sparse.
Back on Valentines day there must have been a very early flash sale (or early morning pricing glitch) as I have the Daz Deals script and notice that almost every item I look at shows a ridiculous deep discount on the pricing graph for just a brief time on that day (with prices of 6$ or less). When I was on the store page that same day, the discounts I saw were nowhere near that deep.
Yes. I missed it but there was a glitch on that day when the store turned over.
The glitch lasted like 20 minutes or so, I was on and was adding stuff to the cart while the prices switched. So I doubt many people actually bought anything unless they were expecting it and like added 3 products, bought, and so on.
Me, I've been taking advantage of the deep discounts on Zev0 and others to pick up morph resources
. Same of the odd bits necessary to do promos and such. Of course, I went from 2 Pro bundles to (now) seven, but I've been picky-- If there's not at least half (and preferably more) of the kit I use (characters and poses excluded), I'm not going to bother.
Then again, I do a lot of sci-fi, with a some fantasy stuff as cosplay-type stuffs. The thing I'm forever short on is decent clothing and hair for the men. Most of the Pro bundles are mostly garbage in the clothing department, and hair is seriously hit-or-miss.
I used to buy them all but don't anymore for the same reason. By buying them you also support the products in them you don't want, so they think you want more of them.
I'm pretty sure they're aware that not everyone likes everything in a pro pack.
I think it would be next to impossible to like all the items in a pack of that size. Even if it follows a theme (which they don't all do).
I consider myself sold on a bundle if I really like the main char and at least 3 items from the hair and clothing items. Everything else is a bonus.
Edit:
Anyone else feeling like the last 2 days newly mad items are not as attractive as the other items ? :))
Maybe it's just coincidence with my taste but I think any other 2 days I could have found 2 items that I liked and bought for the 20% additional discount for the next pro bundle. This weekend's newly mad items though just don't do anything for me.
I wasn't much interested in yesterday's new items but there are two or three today that are of interest:
https://www.daz3d.com/instaedit
https://www.daz3d.com/everyday-cables
https://www.daz3d.com/regal-riches-historical-pattern-
Yes, but people buy them anyway to save some bugs on those things in the bundle they want. Which means some products sell more copies than they normally would, at the expense of other products.
I also notice that https://www.daz3d.com/character-converter-from-genesis-2-female-to-genesis-8-female- is back and included in today's new releases. I wonder if having bought it earlier in the week will count toward getting the discount on the future Pro bundle?
All 3 items are indeed interesting but completely out of the scope of what I am doing.
The cables look good and detailed but I don't see myself including cables in rendering with as much zoom as to need a special product for that. Especially one that would cost around $7.5.
The instance tool looks good for people using instances but I've never found myself in a situation where I needed to edit an instance so I can't buy the item just in case.
The regal riches pattern look very good for people that are interested in that time period and location but that is not me so again, not useful :(.
I think that even if not intended, it will count toward the discount because it is easier to code just to check if it was bought or not and not the purchase date but I am really just guessing here. I think it would be nice for people that bought it earlier to get a confirmation one way or another to know where they stand. Unfortunately it is the weekend and official activity and responses are at a much slower pace.
Yeah, this weekend I'd just be buying stuff to buy stuff. Saved more than daylight this weekend.
