So.... March Madness?

Last year it kicked off on Monday, February 26, but it seems to creep earlier every year.  I'm just hoping that it won't start this weekend, given the store's recent history of not getting sales right for the first few days... Anyone making preditions?

I also hope it doesn't start this weekend as I am not home and I hate shopping from my phone.

Since this is my first year I couldn't say when it will start but I am excited about it. Maybe my wishlist can finally drop from the 200s (236 to be more exact) :)

...ah my team is currently projected as the #8 seed in the Midwest bracket and if they win against #9 Rhode Island would end up meeting #1 seed Kansas and will likely be slaught-...err...oh, right...that MM.

  • Historically, I don't find MM as good as the PA/PC/holiday sales later on. Maybe it will be different this year

Yeah, I'll agree that MM's generally been less spectacular in terms of mega-deals and discounts, but on the other hand, given that DAZ seems to be blowing out the doors on even the newer G8 stuff lately, I expect that there'll be a least a couple of days with super bargains.

...yeah, the PC+ has become my favourite sale as of late in part thanks to the PC+ For a Day deals. Totally cleaned up last year on that and cleared a lot off my wishlist.

March Madness used to be a much bigger deal than it has been for the past handful of years. But there have still usually been some splendid new releases.

Just, please Ghod, don't make it another punchcard sale. Nobody wants those!

I'm sure there will be *something* good in all that.

    ...yes

I even dislike BOGOs at the grocery market. Annoyingly the Safeway nearby now puts up special deals like 3 for 5$ or 5 for 10$ for but you can't just buy one, as in little print it says that you have to buy the full number listed to get the discount. Apologies I don't have a tactical squad to feed and not enough storage space in my little flat, particularly if the item is a in large box/package.or needs to be refrigerated/frozen.

The MM 3 years ago was pretty good from my standpoint sales wise, but yeah the last two have earned the title 'March Meh-ness' by comparison.

There's a certain thrill to putting a bunch of items in your cart for 25 cents an item or so.  Sure, most of those were  'just' V4 or Genesis era items, but the bargain shopper in me loved that sequence of sales.  Just wish I had more discretionary cash back then, I would have grabbed more stuff.  Of course, I've snagged a lot of stuff since then via various sales...

I can't speak to MM sales farther back than that, others can if they wish.  I'm hoping for decent deals this year of course, as I'm sure we all are.

With the the fact that prices have crept up on a lot of stuff over the last couple of years, even at 70% off a few items are outside of my spending comfort zone.  Almost all of the items in my wishlist these days are 'don't really need, but if it's on sale for a really good price', so I'm taking my time with those items, often grabbing them with coupons and such.

What I find intriguing is the fact that Daz has offered a few REALLY GOOD gift card sales of late.  The latest being of course the 27% off + 20% off purple banner one,  I banked a BUNCH of store credit during the last GC sale, so I'm good to go, but still, 40% off or more for gift cards, even with a prereq purchase, has been a rare occurence up until now.  Said steeper GC discounts do help offset the higher prices a bit at least.

So yeah, it'll probably be March Mehness again this year, or so I'm telling myself so that I won't be disappointed, but I'm secretly hoping for true sales madness next month.  In a good way of course!

I have no experience what kind of sale is MM. I collected a Gift Card specially for PC+ etc.. However I may use that at MM.

I am thinking that if Valentine's day weekend was really good (and it was), March Madness has to clearly be better than that.

I really have no idea what to expect but I am hoping for good stuff.

I am hoping Daz features more G3 in the promos as that's what I am mainly interested in, along with a really good deal on Horse 2 Pro (since, unlike other pro bundles, some content isn't sold separately). But I love older bargains too, and also won't be unhappy if there are blowouts on any of the few G8 items I do want.

Our Kroger stores do a lot of Buy X of This for $Y promos but let you buy any number at that price for 90% of the products, so I like those.

  • it's more the case that the bogo is usually incompatible products such as Poser legacy with DAZ iray only

most want one or the other so buying one for another not advantageous

I would still buy a pile of legacy stuff I didn't have already if it were complimentary

not that there is much left that ever goes on sale but hairs in particular I still grab

a few stray Poser users would still appreciate it too but not the new incompatible stuff

many newer users or most who now only use genesis 3&8 wouldn't want it at all and gain no benefit so why bogo it together

Daz horse pro bundle was like $20 during the valentines weekend. How cheap do you want to get it for?

...I have the Daz Deals filter and I noticed on the graph it puts up for the price trending quite a number of sale items dropped to something like 4.00$ or so last week, though it must have occurred very early in the morning (at least for us here on the LEft Coast) as I was up at just after 08:00 local time and the prices had already gone up slightly by then..If it were a flash/blink sale that means it would have started at something like 04:00 here while most of us were still asleep.

Yes, at the beginning of the Valentines weekend there was an error on the site and all products were discounted by 50%, not just DOs. That's why you can see a lot of low prices on the 14th.

I was online when that happened but it was fixed pretty quickly (like 15 minutes until discount was gone and later on fixed, at least for me).

Since the major sales alway start on a Monday, then the likely dates for the start of MM will be Feb 24th or March 2nd. Recently sales have always started before the month they are assigned for, so my guess would be a start date of Feb 24th, ie this coming Monday.

Almost certainly the Nida offers will end on that day, so anyone wanting to buy her, and/or use the coupons associated with her sale, probably have until Sunday, so not long.

  • March Madness?  OMG..., nooooooosurprise  my credit card is still screaming from February Foolishness.indecision

We have March Madness, I like the idea of February Foolishness... that leaves... January Jackassery?... April Anti-sanity? May Moronicness? June Jerkiness? July Just-Plain-Recklessness? August Asinineness? September Stupidity? October Oafishness? November Nincompoopery? December Derangement?...

That was totally not worth the ten minutes it took to name all that... July and October need something better... October could be an Octopus based sale...

    Megh... I'm done.

  • March Madness will offer better discounts than usual ... it will occasionally get vendors on sale that are seldom on sale through the year so watch for those if you have them on your wishlist.

What scares me is the possibility of releasing Genesis 9. I know historically the new generation comes in July ... but they have recently been super-selling the generation 8 stuff and it makes me wonder. The recent high percentage off gift card sale also makes me wonder. Either way, they are planning something big [ perhaps a great base character or two?] because that is what typically follows a big gift card sale.

January seems to be a continuation of the holiday sale. Does it need a name? February Foolishness has a certain ring to it, but what does that say about us for buying into it? cheeky

For the benefit of the newbies here; historically, the March Madness sale was a roll-out for a slew of new DAZ Originals. They could be buy-outs from vendors which had previously been available at another store, like Rendo, or they could have been commissioned by DAZ. Or, probably any other combination of sources. In any case, they were now DAZ Os.

This was acompanied by various PA new releases and vendor store sales as well, so that tended to blur the focus a bit. As stated above, some of these were vendors who rarely went on sale. It was an excellent time to clear out one's wishlist.

There was usually some kind of partcipatory "event" accompanying it. Or the kind of promotion where if you purchased something (anything) today you'd get a bigger discount tomorrow. Occasionally it was worth it, but you tended to end up with a lot of variously usable V4 minidresses with migrating holes in them somewhere.

    April Anti-sanity?

Actually, there was an "April's Fool" sale many years ago. But with MM starting to last 6 weeks and more, there was no need for it anymore, I guess.

i dont even look at sale items featuring anything older than G2 and a lot of the sales feature exactly those. I'm sure MM will again as well. I have purchased non-character, non-clothing items though .. props mainly.

Well, there's also stuff like environments, props and vehicles. Those generally work for everybody who's willing to fiddle a bit with the materials settings.

Same here, I avoid all pre G2 content also, have enough of it and rarely use the ones I have anymore, even environments, props and/or vehicles.

Honestly, I am pretty saturated with content at the moment and only look at new items mostly.

Then the March Madness sale may be for you. The two main things I've noticed about the last few MM sales is an increase in the introductory discount on new items. and a few days when all artists are on sale.Altough the discount on the all artists sales may only be 50% or so, it includes artists that rarely otherwise go on sale.

Thanks Charlie, I do remember the last few years MM, although I dont get too excited about sales events much anymore since I am more focused on the products I need/use.

I actually wasn't going to renew my PC membership when it expired in May, but then they threw a sale at me and I went ahead for another year, LOL
