Yes, but in this case you're talking about gen 3 to gen 8 for the human half, where the textures and even geografts are already cross compatible, and since both are using Horse 2 as the base, that side of the merge is the same so you've already done half the work on the previous. I didn't say it would be easy, just that it would be less work and it wouldn't surpise me to learn that they basically started witht the existing Horse 2/geograft and rigging, then just tweaked in the G8 figure. Plus...
But 1.) it wasn't a DAZ original, that's a PA product, so it didn't get the wider support you tend to see on the DAZ base figures, 2.) while beautiful, it's not really the classic mermaid design that someone would want for recreating Ariel or Madison from Splash, and 3), and this was my main point, unlike DAZ and the centaurs, the aguja PAs had to create their mermaid part completely from scracth as they couldn't just adapt a prexising base and rigging, and if another PA had wanted to go back and adapt a Genesis 2 or earlier figure, they'd also have to contend with starting with non-iray textures.
And here's something I just noticed on the HIdes and Breeds sets - while the morphs in the two bundles seem to be very similar except for the obvious gender swap, the textures seem to split the original horse 2 texture sets down the middle. I wonder if that means you can use the female textures on the male and vice versa, or if are you locked into having only girls be the brown and white palominos due to the G8F and geograt parts of the equation?

Just gotta say, as someone who purchased Centaur 7 Male Pro and Centaur 7 Female Pro, seeing both of them combined into the same pro bundle for Centaur 8 was a pleasant surprise.
Also, 18 items in a Pro bundle? Counting the Hides and Breeds for Males and Females plus the 16 other items, well that doesn't happen every day!
There may not have been much changed between 7 and 8, but with the discounts and 20% off purple banner, the price was low enough to make this a no brainer for me. I didn't notice that there was a pro bundle initially, and had the Male bundle and Female bundle in my cart, but then I saw the threads and the mentions of the Pro bundle. Thanks for the heads up y'all!
Wasn't planning on three pro bundles in the same month though, that put a real dent in my Daz budget. Not regretting Diego, but his sale didn't last long at all, which seems short sighted to me. WTBH Daz sales team? Diego deserved more sales love...
Anyways, looking forward to taking Centaur 8 through the paces. And Midnight Stories teaser pic looks very interesting, looking forward to seeing that in the store!
Finally, I got the Centaurs for Genesis 8. And now I have to contact the support team because the "hides and breeds" assets didn't show up within my "purchased items". And of course, I have bought the pro bundle. ;)
I love it when the release is something I have less than zero interest in!
Weird. I bought the Pro Bundle and the Hides and Breeds are still showing in the Pro Bundle line up as NOT purchased when I unhide my purchase from the main store to see what all's in the Bundle. So is this a glitch and I guess I'm owed these two packs then?

Thanks for pointing that out. I"ve also submitted a ticket so that those will be included in my purchase. They are listed as part of the pro bundle as of the time of my purchase, and are still listed on the product page, so this should be a no brainer for the sales team. I'll post up when I hear back from the Sales staff.
As loud as the don't-need-this crowd was on the Genesis 3 version, I'm a little surprised by the Genesis 8 version, so the last batch of centaurs must have sold pretty well.

I think the telling point is that there were more Centaur 7 products released than there were products for the DAZ horse 2, which was practically DOA after it's initial release. It's a niche product, no doubt about it, though I'm surprised that there haven't been more alien type creatures released using the Centaurs as a base.
It makes no sense to me to complain about something just existing. If you don’t need a centaur (to stick with the current topic, but this could apply to almost anything), don’t comment in the centaur thread. Any sort of diversity is a good thing in my eyes. It’s certainly not as if we see an endless deluge of barely distinguishable centaur content. And while you may not need a centaur, think about all the people who had been desperately wishing for a good centaur model who finally got what they wanted.
Working with a character base like a centaur is tough in general.......aliens are a "hit or miss big" type of character. So to put all that work into something that may not sell is painfull (being the guy who did make the alien centaur last time....I can tall ya...it flopped badly)

This is the internet, where people come to complain about things that no one will listen to them complain about in person.
And yeah, I can see people compalining about these centaurs being so similar to the G3 Centaurs, or why we get an endless stream of caucasian female base figures when there are lots of ethnic and body types that haven't been covered yet in the current generation, but taking the time and trouble to post in a thread about a product simply to say that you have no interest in that product would seem to indicate that the opposite is true.
I'm screaming like a little girl in the 60es at a Beatles concert. Did absolutely not expect a G8 Centaur release. This makes me so happy! Thank you, DAZ!
Whether leaving these out as separate products was an oversight, or whether someone at Daz has done a quick U-turn, it is very good that they have made these products available outside of the pro pack. I'm pleased to see that this has happened.
Dim Reaper, Do you have the G8 Cross-Figure product? Back when C7 for the males came out, I did a female centaur by using Cross-Figure. I had to use male clothing, though, as the female clothing wouldn't follow the pose. (That could have been my lack of experience and knowledge.) It would limit your use of female characters for the head, but with practically everything covered anyway, that shouldn't be too big of a deal…
If you're buying the armor anyway, it's worth trying.
Jepp, I can confirm that Genesis 8 centaurs are compatible with the former generation.
Sadly her base character isn't working with the recently released character converter.(Even the forced conversion failed.) So I had to transfer her, the old school way.
The maps were also applied manually, the transition between the two body segments is still visible through a mistake I made. But applying the same shader settings for both the shell and the Gen8 centaur body should fix this.
Even that would be a pretty nonsense complaint to me, because most of my assets are G8, which makes it difficult to work with Centaur 7. The only reason I even bought C7 was because C8 didn’t seem likely.
No I don't have that, but I will take a look. Thank you for the heads-up.

Is there any hope of using horse morphs on centaur bodies? I’d love to be able to use Tane or Marguerite as a centaur base.
