To me, he looks like a blander more grownup version of Taylor Lautner. Karl kind of doubles down on the resemblance (is the name some kind of homage to the Germanic side of Lautner's heritage?) while managing to be his own thing. Very good-looking. Landis is a twofer homage: hairstyle itself is mostly Jonathan Brandis as stated above, but it's named for the director of An American Werewolf in London. Lycan 8...masterfully done, but reminds me of the time I bought and returned the stand-alone Sagytarios because he was just too scary for me to handle. Thorn-very good-looking, and seems to be an excellent take on a fair male skin. Don't own the G8M morph set though.

Hair and clothing are more appealing than Tasha's options: the two "preppy" dForce outfits are the kind of thing I normally like, although the decision to not DForce the pants on any of the promo shots for Outsider does make me wonder how well they work. GothicX isn't my thing but at least it doesn't have modeled-in, difficult-to-hide pentacles like the equivalent gothy/fanservice outfit for Tasha. Alpha Team...is not well-thought-out.

If I weren't dealing with expensive car repairs this month, I'd be seriously tempted. Just wanted to give a thumbsup to Daz for making better choices on what to include in the bundle this time around.

  • Retro Hero Hair lists a fit for Bridget 8.

  • As with every pro bundle released over the past few months, I have loaded up my cart with the pro bundle, add-ons and freebies and I am now pondering whether to buy them or just get the base figure and a couple of bits I like.  I am fairly certain that last year, buying add-ons with the pro bundle actually lowered the total price, but that has no longer been the case for a while now.  That, and the lack of the HD add-on in the pro pack has stopped me buying the pro bundle for several releases now.  On the upside, I do like the "$40 off Daz originals" because it will allow me to pick up one of the HD add-ons that I didn't buy previously for the reasons stated above.

I like the base figure.  The Lycan HD looks interesting and of course will be of high quality.  I very much like the look of Thorn.  I am also liking the recent "theme" characters - alien, vampire, werewolf.  I just wish that Daz would go back to the sort of deals with the pro bundle that they had previously as that would make the decision to buy so much easier.

When I was a kid, he came to a car show near here during the seaQuest DSV era. My Dad promised to take me, but reneged on the day of. I don't think I ever forgave him while he was alive. He broke a lot of promises, but that was by far the worst. I think now that if I had met Jonathan Brandis, his death would probably hurt waaaay more than it already did/does. I grew up watching him in It, seaQuest, Ladybugs, NeverEnding Story II, and as Mozenrath on Aladdin. I'd like to think he's happy where he is now, and doing or directing all of the films he wants. In high school, my friend and I talked about and started to make a game starring Jonathan Brandis (some sci-fi time travel thing with a convoluted plot). I read in one of the magazines that fans would steal the nameplate from his dressing room door, so I made a game called "Quest for a Nameplate" where you had to get to his trailer before the security guard got to you. I identified with Lucas Wolenczak so much, and I still do. I've seen his picture recently, I don't remember what I was looking up but he came up and it instantly took me back 25 years. Seeing the Landis hair did the same. I think I'll buy it and do a tribute character.

Jonathan Brandis... that's a name I've not heard in a long time. When I was a little girl I was convinced I was going to marry him someday. I was devastated when I heard of his death.

I hope he's in heaven and no longer in pain - maybe having a drink and a few laughs with River Phoenix and Corey Haim.

ROFL~ That was a fun story! :D Thank you for sharing it! It literally made me laugh out loud. :)

I've somehow gone my entire life without breaking a bone but the time I came closest to it was when my mom's idiot boyfriend at the time yelled up the stairs at me "That doofus you like is on TV" (the jerk knew I liked him and so he liked to call him doofus just to get under my skin). It wasn't "Seaquest DSV day" so I was like "WHAT!?" I took the flight of stairs so fast that I missed a step near the top and tumbled all the way down them. When I hit the floor at the bottom I lept up and ran into the living room to see, despite having hurt my leg pretty badly. I caught just a glimpse of his face before the commercial ended. lol Dang, I had it bad. I've never had a "celebrity crush" (or any other type of crush) anywhere nearly that bad before or since.

I think I'll still miss him even when I'm 100.

He looks great and you get a werewolf with the Pro bundle. Those who wanted a male gigure should be happy.

I'm quite disappointed with the relative lack of addons, (compared to female figure releases,) when there's a requirement to buy four addons to get the best discounts! I'm not much into the horror genre, so it would have been really nice to have one or two additional characters that are more "guy next door" or "sexy hunk" than monster. I understand Daz can't offer products that the PAs didn't create, but with only nine addons to choose from, it's not easy to find four products I actually want! Three would have been only marginally easier.

Regardless, I like Landon. I especially like Karl, with his light coloring. Thorn is very interesting, and including the hat and cane was a nice touch. Love Redz' hairs, and how she supports M & F for both G8 and G3. Landis hair has potential, though I tend to avoid that PA's hairs because the scalp doesn't have it's own material zone. (That may no longer be true. As I said, I tend to avoid buying his/her hair products.) I'll reserve judgement on the clothing until I've had the chance to try them. Poses, meh. The Lycan, impressive, even if I'm not into the genre.

The Lycan was the only thing I got, I made a different face as I prefer more traditional lycans, but solid texture from josh !

I bought him and most of his extras. heart looks great to me. Nothing plain or boring at all. heart

the deal could’ve been better. Really struggled with the first category. Nothing but really old runtime dna stuff and Genesis content. The second category was better but they should’ve just given 50 instead of 20 in the first and 30 in the second.

  • still waiting for Gianni 8

  • I crumbled and bought the pro bundle, and I'm glad that I did.  My first render with Landon:

    Not Gianni 8 :(

That’s because The Brute 8 most likely replaced Gianni due to low sales. The same thing probably happened to Kenji as well.

Gianni actually sells pretty well and he is coming to Gen 8. He was spotted in the FBM's in a product somewhat recently.

The deal is a lot better than it was for Tasha earlier this month, in that there's actually a decent variety in some of the categories (enough that my problem in building up a cart is going to be deciding what I want most, rather than whether I want anything enough to bother with the deal)... but no, the first category has only one thing newer than Genesis 2. I'll probably find something, as I do use G2 from time to time, but not exactly ideal.

  • He looks good and getting the add ons brings the bundle down to $37 and some change, I'll get him

I'm torn.  I skipped the last guy because he was largely uninspired on so many levels.  I lke this release, but so much of it is problematic and almost as uninspired. It is unfortunate that the only way we get to vote is with our wallets. That's not much of a vote.  Wouldn't it be great if there was actually some open dialogue on things so we could tell artists what is good and bad and why we would like or not like to buy a particular product?

Like, why haven't you learned to model a crotch that doesn't utterly stretch the textures (long standng issue) or why do you think shoe laces are so stiff that those boots are going to have a giant bow that stands up like that (repetitive issue)?

Or maybe its time that the purchasing model changed.  Define what makes a bundle and let us pick the bits we think ought to be in it or that work for us so that we aren't buying 3 things we don't want to get 2-4 that we do want at a more competitive price. OR so that we can continue to boycott artists that we have our reasons to boycott.

I actually like his Pro Bundle, including the ridiculous "goth" outfit. I'm gonna wait until I get home to check out the deals.
  • What does it mean when it says he is "backwards compatible??"

  • What does it mean when it says he is "backwards compatible??"

That's the Genesis 8 blurb, which is psoted on all of the Name 8 figures. Auto-fit clones for all previous Genesises, same UVs (mostly) as Genesis 3.

  • I just had a look at Landon/werewolf! Wow! Had to laugh at the name Landon (as in Michael Landon horror flick Teenage Werewolf) haha good one Daz.

  • Passed on Tasha, will pass on this one, too. Should have passed Sydney, passed Eva.

Zelara, Gia, Monique and Nix were good, though.

Looking at past generations, we’re pretty much done with the normal human figures and we are at the tail end of generation 8.

Doesn't look like we're done with normal human, too many of the males have been too normal, too alike from the same narrow gene pool. Lucas, Owen, Michael, Edward could easily be the same guy at different ages, and scrape the cosplay off Landon and Nix and they are in the same clone batch.

Genesis 3s Ivan, Gianni, Leo, Lucian, Dante (and those are just the white guys) have more diversity in looks than the current generation. If it weren't for Brute, Vladimir, Floyd and ollie I'd call the current generation males a flop creatively speaking.

Yup agreed and I LOVED Teen Wolf.  Total fav of mine.  Came to mind the second I saw this release.  COOL.  I think his face is very likeable, kinda like a more handsome David 5 (Which I also liked allot).  Redz did an outstanding job on Karl but then again she always comes through!  She's billiant at making fiber hair but her skins are really nice as well!

I didn't think Gianni would not sell, Gianni 7 seems to be the genetic doner for most the Genesis 8 males, I prefer Gianni 6s  look.

I had to have a play with the new Lycan and I'm very much liking this model.  This was one of my main reasons for getting the pro pack.

I'm not interested by the bundles, just it will be the base and HD add-on.

One of the main reasons I've still been buying Gen 8 bundles is the opportunity to get old content cheap - seems to be my main reason to buy any new release of late - they'll come in handy in a year or two when my hardware/system can handle it better. For what I do, Genesis (1) is still a useful figure. Given another six months I'll have everthing for Genesis (1).

The Deal calculations have gotten so complex to work out of late, and the bundles so uninspiring, I've generally spent the months spare cash on the preceeding days bargain sale

This is one of those rare occasions that I liked everything in the Pro bundle and also got the texture addons for all 4 outifts.  Nice discount too, I paid just (rounded up) $60.00 for all of it.  I'm happy!

  • The werewolf character is pretty cool, but I don't have a use for it right now. I also like Hinkypink's add on character but the main figure and his bundles are just "meh" to me. I don't see him as very different than any of the other gen 8 males released lately. The "deals" have decreased lately too. I used to buy figures because I could get older content free..
