The new 1954 Chevrolet from Nationale7, great little model, it lends itself well to painting the body with DZ Fire shaders, which of course, so far are the best paint shaders around, and one of the few shaders available that actually work flawlessly!

The car is very well detailed, and very accurate, it is made for Poser, so there are some things that must be done when using it in DAZ Studio 4, the car will load perfectly as long as nothing else in the scene is highlighted, so make sure that nothing else, that is if you have anything in the scene, is highlighted when loading this car, next you will need to parent the front wheels, one at a time, to the Mainbody, both doors need to be parented to the Mainbody, and the rear wheels need to be parented to the mainbody, once that is all done, you can highlight the mainbody and move and pose the car as needed.

As was mentioned earlier, you will need shaders for the car paint, as well as for the chrome, so be sure you have decent shaders on hand for those things, the interior parts such as the seats, floor and headliner will show up okay, so cloth shaders aren't really necessary, unless you want to use different colors.

The car has more accurate lines than the Dreamland model, it also has a nicely detailed interior, at least the dash and seats anyway, the floor is a little plain jane, but otherwise is acceptable.

The material zones are as usual with Nationale7 models, almost everything that requires the use of shaders is going to be in multiples, the doors are separate from the body, the wheels are also separate parts, so unlike many others out there, you will need to make separate materials presets for the doors, the front wheels, (one will do for both front wheels) and the rear wheels, other than those few items, the car is great and I like it.

Its a very nicely done model, no question of that, but I used DZFire shaders for the body paint...

How about a Chevrolet blue and white two tone?

The material zones on this car don't really allow for that, I know that the top of the line Bel-Air would have been twotone, however, most of the cars in the early 50's were solid color, with accents within the chrome!

Petipet? Where is it available? I thought it was that old free Lightwave model that's been knocking around for ages...

(btw thanks everybody for a great thread - especially the old one! It's been a great source of information and inspiration!)

    Cheers!

Has anybody compared this to the free mesh at Foundation3D?

    http://www.foundation3d.com/index.php?categoryid=38&p13_sectionid=259&p13_fileid=719

It's pretty good and renders well, but is obviously enough not rigged. If the commercial mesh is as good, I might get that rather than rig the older mesh myself.
