I have trouble hearing some frequencies of ladies' voices.

And do people even on television mumble more these days and speak more quickly in a clipped manner? CC is a Godsend for me, or the volume has to be up more than in the past. I'll need hearing aids soon, I guess. crying

Oh and now I have a cold. Prednisone weakened my immune system I guess. sad

  • Complaint:  Not quite so painful today, but still moving very very slowly and carefully.  Didn't even bother with making breakfast today, just a cup of decaf coffee.  Spent the last two hours in my recliner catching up on news and cop chases via YouTube on my TV.  Dropped my FireTV remote control (it's quite small) and lost it for 30 minutes as I tried to get up from my chair, search the floor, search under the chair, hobble 8 feet to get a flashlight and search under the chair again, search the wastepaper basket next to the chair (ug, wet apple core rediscovered), search wider area around the chair,  search under the tiny table next to the chair, search the granny blanket rumpled on the floor, peer down the heating register behind the chair, search under the TV stand.  Much of this required that I get on my hands and knees by climbing down my cane.  Considered that the remote could have fallen INTO the mechanism of the recliner chair via the side of the seat cushion. surprise Pondered how to tip the heavy chair over and examine the interior mechanism but as I was moving the side table, speaker, and speaker volume control dial in preparation for tipping the chair, I lucked out.  As I was climbing down my cane again to pick up the tin of Christmas cookies (biscuits), partial bag of stick pretzels, and my blood pressure monitoring device safely tucked under the sidetable I noticed the FireTV remote has nestled itself neatly into the cuff of the blood pressure machine. Oy. frown  Now all I had to do was put the pretzels, cookies, wastebasket, sidetable, granny blanket,  various remotes, volume control dial, speaker flashlight, and granny blanket back into their proper places and climb back down my cane into my chair.  But by now I had to go to the necessary room first. frown  Then I ended up here to tell my tale of woe. yes  And now that I've sat here for too long too far upright, my back is killing me again. crying

My coffee was too sweet so I put some more coffee in it, but now my coffee is not sweet enough.  I checked my coat pockets to see if I have any stevia.  Instead I found two ginger bites individually wrapped, an old receipt, a small hand sanitizer, my phone, a packet of Kleenex, my afternoon pill, and a sock. None of any of that would help sweeten coffee.  Wait, why is there only one sock in my coat pocket?

That’s also handy if you wake up laying on the floor after a party or fermented beverage sampling challenge and you want to do some work but you can’t quite manage to summon the required chair sitting skills.

Ah yes   I hadn't thought of that.   Will definitely leave that monitor on my wish list for when I can afford to buy a new one. I was quite interested as it did seem a novel thing to be able to do with a monitor screen,   I just needed to find a reason for wanting to do it.

Monitors like that have been around for over a decade.  Mostly used by people who write or perform other duties for page setup...news, books, magazines, whatever...because it gives a portrait view of the document that is more suited to reading, proofreading, etc.

NOT neccessarily    You really do need to stop reading all the Internet Doctor articles and start listening to a real life General practioner doctor, who will be trained and know what he is talking about. I could have lost Himself a lot earlier than I did if he hadn't taken notice of his Doctor and taken his medicines as prescribed.  If you do have to search for info on the internet do make sure that your are reading stuff from a reliable source.  For Example   https://www.bhf.org.uk/informationsupport/heart-matters-magazine/medical/drug-cabinet/statins
I set up a "Gift of Hope" thing in Himself's name and asked for no flowers at the funeral but to donate instead as they are one of the most useful, helpful and knowledgable organisations around when it comes to Cardiac matters. Didn't raise much unfortunately because some people are traditional and would rather give flowers.

Anyone can set up a site on the internet and say they are a health practicioner. It can be extremely dangerous to rely on stuff from uncertified sources.

Over here if it is pages from the NHS  or the BHF  or similar reputable organisations then we can be sure we are getting good advice.  Someone who calls themself Doctor Axe is not, especially when you find out he is a chiropractor, advocates natural medecine and is a so called nutrionist who writes recipe books advocating some of the quack diets that are around.

I want a new monitor but I feel like I cannot say that too loudly since I just got a new TV.  I would also need to figure out how to use two external monitors on my computer.  A minor issue is I would have to get rid of my broken printer and place my good printer where the broken printer is.

I would so love a vertical monitor assuming that I can find a way to environmentally safe way to get rid of the broken printer,so I can put my good printer in the printer section of my desk.  Also it would be cool if there was an extra link nvidia card so I can use two external monitors unless I am watching tv.  so In short I would need money and some help to transport the broken printer to an environmentally conscious electronic recycle place, but in the end I need a lot more money.

Good advice about the reading internet doctor stuff.  I think reading too much of that can cause hypochondria.  I try to avoid site like that to avoid becoming a hypochondriac.  I also do not own a scale because I am afraid I might abuse it by becoming obsessive with my weight and how do I word this? Oh add a new diagnosis which is eating disorder.

I already am confused if I have delusions of grandeur or I am just delusional about me having delusions of grandeur.  Or

I have ADD (which becomes ADHD when I drink caffeinated beverages) and OCD and they combat each other.  I want all my content organized perfectly but my ADD (or ADHD due to ice coffee or ice tea) says that I rather play with my content than organize it.  My OCD says I want a perfect scene but my ADD says let’s have fun!

Then my fear of dehydration and love of caffeinated beverages keeps interrupting my concentration.  That is probably one reason I am not allowed to drink caffeinated beverages at my computer desk in my room.  Well I a, not allowed to drink any beverages near my computer desk. Nor am I allowed food in my room other than fish food.   Okay where did I put that fish food because I had dinner but I do not think I gave them their dinner.  I might have a memory issue but I cannot remember if I do or if I gave my pets their dinner.

I am also wondering why my computer is being slow so I can stop spamming this thread via my iPad.

I call it an iPad because it has an Apple symbol on the back of it and it is a tablet.

Oh, lord.  I just finished episode 6 of GOT and I think I've discovered the method behind the writer's madness.  Crush all glimmers of hope whenever they rise. frown   No good deed goes unpunished.  This will get old very quickly.

Unfortunately that is his writing style. No endings that are actually happy. He got pissed that the ending of the movie version of Nightflyers was made to look like a happy one. It actually wasn't if you thought about it but he felt it was.

Well said. We need more people promoting actual medicine.

I hate when I can’t remember stuff... today I was trying to remember the name of some old DAZ character, which I used to like using for stupid reasons.

I probably haven’t used him in seven or eight years... I couldn’t remember the character’s name... at first I thought it was “Spurggles”, but I couldn’t find if that was a real thing or I imagined that name... I went through two old computers and five hard drives and ended up finding him on my computer... the one I use the most... apparently at some point I went looking for him, found him and never installed him... and then promptly forgot I ever did that.

    The Creeper was his name...

So now I found him... installed him and decided to amuse myself...

I spend entirely too much time amusing myself photoshopping stupid pictures...

Was spurggles a DAZ product or did I imagine that name?

    A couple of things:

    1) You need to get a Proper Computer

    2) I've some serious ADHD, and get distracted by pretty much everything. Caffiene in significant amounts knocks me out.

True. For most people on statins the benefits far outweigh the possible risks.

Himself had been  taking them for 25 years with no problems,

When we moved and changed Doctors  our new Doctor had a system whereby you got a full health check. when he went back for his next appointment, to find out the results of the check up his Doctor (not noted for her tact) looked at him and said "How come you are still alive"  That is certainly a statement to make someone blink.

He came home with medications for Hypertension and Statins and a diet sheet.

He did tell her that since we had been together he had lost quite a bit of weight as I had already changed his diet from what his mother had been feeding him and actually the diet sheet he got was virtually what I would call a sensible diet, and almost indentical to what I had been giving him.

It did take a couple of changes of BP pills before they got that right, but he was giving them a month each time to settle down before going back.  We pay for prescriptions a month at a time. no refunds on a prescription so, unless there is a really horrific side effect obvious, we give the meds a month to settle down.

Are you going to stop drinking Drambuie? A lot more people suffer from the side effects of the drug called alcohol than those of statins. Some people end up dying every year from the drug called alcohol. Cirrhosis of the liver and alcohol toxicosis are more common than side effects of statins.

The funniest thing was His mother came to live with us when we moved, so she was eating her main meal with us in the evening.   She was 80 when she moved in.  One day, a couple of years after she moved in she asked Himself to make her an appointment to see the Doctor and then take her down, but didn't say why.  It turned out that she was worried because she was losing weight, and she had always been a somewhat "cuddly" lady.  Doctor gave her a thorough medical and then told her that she was healthier than she had ever been since she had first gone to that Doctor,
