Tony Stark as played by Downey Jr. is a massive jerk, because he drinks and is literally always the smartest guy in the room. It's a large part of his charm. I love the jerk, he's a refreshing change from the "superhero as boy scout" stock character. wink

Yeah, and that Tony Stark was a massive downer. I prefer the cinematic Tony. Changing gears, I hope your SS and assistance comes through soon. Fingers crossed and thumbs up. yes

Somebody put a baby fish in my tank for Christmas!  I wonder who did that?  The ones with the means and motivate to put baby fish in my aquarium are not talking.  (They are too busy making more fish!)

Apparently I need to do more than just download ZBrush to use it.  Apparently I got to install it first.

Can I mix the left overs of the old fish food container into the new?

That actually very much depends on how long a shelf life your fish food has,  and how long it takes you to get through the container.   Out of date food is just as dangerous for creatures as it is for people.

Complaint:  Arghhh..., mini-power outage. frown  An hour without power is dour.  It makes me sour and causes me to glower.  But I'm relieved that it wasn't four hours.

(*Why is it that "4" is spelled four and pronunced "for" instead of "fower", yet "40" is spelled logically as "forty", and naught be pronounced  "fowerty"?  ENGLISH!  Y'gotta love it.*)

“Old” fish food expires in 01/20 but new one expires in 09/21

Apparently I am a bad person because my roommate talks to herself and there is nothing I can do about it.  Asking her nicely to be quiet does not work.  The only thing I am expected to do is to ignore her constant blabbering.

Good that I think I got it done.

I had an interesting problem with a game.  I launched the game and could see the splash screen, but never the game itself.  After several system reboots and uninstalling and reinstalling the game with the same results every time, I remembered something important.  Last time I played I used the tv as a second monitor.  I had the tv on to its home page, but nevertheless on.  I switched the tv to the hdmi slot the computer is connected into and the game appeared.  Also another “problem” got solved which was I found my computer’s sound.

For some reason my screen on the tv is harder to read than the screen on the computer.

Somebody called state on the group home.  I am not sure what that exactly means other than the house is in trouble.  I am not sure what to do.  Hopefully it is not thought to be me calling some number I do not know.  If I was a conspiracy theorist I would say the staff called on herself to make it look like somebody is going against her.

I hink the oral surgeon removed the wisdom tooth.  Left side of face is still numb.  The local pharmacy did not update my old phone number even after I gave them my new number the week before.

Happy New Year!... it’s not New Year yet over here, but wherever you are, when it is or was, may it be a good one... may his year be happier, healthier and 100% free of flying devil monkeys!

No fireworks here.  Rainy, rainy night. indecision

Sitting home on New Year's Eve.  I've had my one drink for the night. Doing a little DAZzing.  Listening to music. Tonight I picked Rachmaninoff's 2nd Symphony.  The story with Rachmaninoff's symphonies is that after the debacle of his 1st symphony's premiere that had been under-rehearsed and conducted by a drunken conductor and the music itself so "different" and dark, than what was "normal" for the time, it was panned viciously in music circles and the press with comments like "all the hounds of hell let loose".   Because of the stress and the criticism, Rachmaninoff had a sort of mental breakdownand didn't attempt another symphony for a long time.  And the score was lost for about 25 years because he left it in Russia when he fled the revolution in 1917 until it was found in an archive 1944.  Now, of course, his 1st symphony is considered one of his masterpieces.  But when he finally did tackle his 2nd symphony it is just as bold a statement as the 1st symphony and the 1st movement of it invokes similar images of unease, foreboding & attractive mystery but the later movements ease up and inject a bit more hope.  yes

Below is a link to his 2nd symphony, and from the first seconds of the droaning opening note it envelops you in darkness.   Yet you want to keep listening to hear what's around the next corner.  Images of unsurmountable cliff walls, a dark rocky shore of a dead sea, and a bloody moon glaring through approaching storm clouds come to mind.  Then the mood changes and becomes almost relaxing until the gloom resurfaces near the end of the 1st movement.  The 2nd and  3rd movements are lighter and establish their own moods but the darkness creeps back in now and then for short periods. Like much of Rachmaninoff's pieces, the music is alive, never stagnates, it's always "going somewhere", "moving on", "taking a journey" and dragging you with it.  It's a piece to sit back, close your eyes, ride the music and be lost within for an hour.  A drink or toke helps. smiley

The great symphonies are palaces of music.  Something interesting around every corner.

    Rachmaninoff: Symphony #2: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_Nm7Gduvho

2nd movement 21:20 Light & lively with a touch of remorse

3rd movement 31:51 Sleepy in a becalmed sea

4th movement 47:48 This last movement turns the fading memories of the darkness of the 1st movement (54:10) into grand awakenings, and a fulfilling joyful finish.
