If this is ever released as an expansion, I'll purchase it quicker than any product in my inventory.
Deanna Troi was supposed to have multiple breasts. STNG They pulled the idea because they didn’t think the public would go for it. In general female aliens in films and media tend to be more humanlike and males less so. I’m sure there is no reason to go into it further but sexy sells. Star Trek is notorious for doing that.
I don’t think it’s judgement all at all to have prefences.
We all know that Captain Kirk can be a you know what at times and here we have Ensign Zelara filling in for Lt. Uhura wheh Kirk made a slightly lewd sugestion that the Enisgn took exception to. I captioned this one "You want me to do what, Captain?"
Well.... I... Might be interested in seeing that.... maybe.... kinda sorta....
Who am I kidding, the more the merrier!
Reminds me of a lot of arguments about Dragonborn...
Eh. I just like the idea of non-humanoid aliens, that are mindbogglingly different from us. Especially considering the many different types of planets that are out there that would never be able to support life like us. I just think it's neat.
Fair enough, and yes, every should have thier own preferencces and there's nothing wrong with expressing them.
BTW, I never knew that about Deanna.
This is awesome!!! Love the expression! And the phaser, too good!
I love really alien aliens and I hope to create some at some point... but it’s a rough market for it, heh
Thanks, Zelora 8 with the OOT sweater dress with Skulldog's TOS textures. The phaser is from the new release by Zeddicuss Z Sci-Fi Weaponry props & poses for G3 & G8. The set is Scifi2 Portrait Vignettes. Unfortunately I dont' get to use that set much. All the reflective surfaces on that set really kills my card. I set the render time for 12 hours and 10,000 iterations and if went the full 12 hours and 9618 iterations and only rendered to 72.53% when it shut down.
Daz hit another home run with Z8!
Here's my attempt at Zelara. I used Altern8 and tweaked more from there. I also replaced the micro bump maps that Altern8 uses with the originals. The chromatic SSS takes too long, (like over 5 times longer) and the translucency was way too high. I'd really like for Daz to offer a non chromatic option for Daz Originals. It is killing render times, and in this case, it doesn't really make her look that any better than using mono. Don't use chromatic unless it is drop dead amazing, like Misumi. Chromatic will make people think they need to upgrade to keep using Iray.
Overall, though, Zelara is one of the best G8's released. She has great textures and a fairly unique face by Daz standards. Her pro bundle is terrible, though. I like this one hair, and that's about it. The only stuff I liked were all add ons. You may be selling pro bundles, but do go thinking it was because of how great the bundle was. Its only because of the offers on tap that I got the bundle.
@Divamakeup
Since I particularly liked your render of Zelara, I thought I'd try to duplicate it.
Here are my attempts. Note that I loved the pose but couldn't quite duplicate it. Any info you have would be wonderful (above and beyond actually).
In order, first render is Zelara 8 Human. with no makeup and her default skin. Second render is with Altern8, Charlotte no maps, SSS B. Looks a bit lighter than yours to me, but very noce. Third render is Charlotte 8 no maps, SSS A. MAybe close enough. Final render is Charlotte 8 no maps, SSS J. This one is also pretty close. I didn't use any of the other Altern8 settings. Lighting for all is Dimension Theroy's ProStudio HDRs, spherical mesh light A w/ the default HDRI.
Thoughts and comments from all/any welcome.
Why render the same figure and pose multiple times when any one of those looks good?
This is what Post-work is for.
...
I wanted to see how Aureska Hol blended with others, and The Girl 8 was the fun blend experiment when she came out.
So... 50% Aureska Hol, 50% The Girl 8. Some nose tweaks, added an Ear dial as well to compensate for dropping some Aureska dial.
Aureska doesn't have a separate "HD Details" dial that I can find, but a lot of the skin detail is in the maps, anyway.
good example/s are shows/movies like Star Trek, Star Wars, Babylon 5, Doctor Who and many others, aliens can be humanoid, plant like, animalistic, fish/bird, gass, rock, sludge pretty much limitless really what an alien can look like
with some tentical hair in her current form she's a lot like Sil from Species
Its called testing. Why fix it in post everytime when you could get it to render well to start with?
Also, artists make studies all the time. Sketches are vital to see what direction you want to go in.
Those look great! :) I'm tickled pink that you like my render enough to want to duplicate it! :) That put a big smile on my face!
I think the pose is a modified version of pose 46 from this set: https://www.daz3d.com/all-sweet-fashion-poses-for-genesis-8-female
The expression is expression 13 from this set: https://www.daz3d.com/ptf-popular-people-poses-and-expressions-for-genesis-8-female-and-penny-8
The dress is this one (with the bow hidden in the surfaces tab): https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-flirty-bow-dress-for-genesis-8-female
The dress texture is from here: https://www.daz3d.com/sassy-bows
The HDRI and lighting is from an upcoming light and render settings product I'm working on, so I can't give that away. :)
For now though you can try turning up "Crush Blacks" and "Burn Highlights" in the tone mapping tab and you can also try keeping the headlamp on (I often keep it on as it gives a nice highlight in the eyes, imo).
I hope that helps. :)
It's like 2 seconds in GIMP or PhotoShop to color correct. I don't see it as covering a flaw... it's part of the creative process.
IMO "Rendering well" can be a bad habit when you see so many overly dark renders in the gallery because they've been told that only bad artists do things in PhotoShop.
I can understand a study, as a sketch.
However, if I'm looking for a specific feeling and skin tone, I put 1 render into the ballpark... then move on to the post work.
I'd counter that by saying that I routinely go through numerous initial renders of a character tweaking shader settings until I get it to look right so that renders I do after that will look the way I want without having to do it in post. If it's gonna be a long series of renders, that extra work up front can save a lot more work later on.
Usually I'm going with the old saying "With boobs it's like with Martinis - one's too few and more than two are too much..." but considering the famous three boobed hooker from Total Recall - the horrible version with Arnold Schwarzenegger - I might agree that three boobs can be quite okay...
Well, werewolf "lore" usually describes them as quite humanoid... And there are quite a few reasons why aliens wouldn't resemble humans too closely, depending on the conditions on their homeplanets and evolution.
I don't do SciFi renders (right now...) but if I would, I'd like to have my aliens being a bit more alien, than just recoloured humans with some additives, especially ones that make little evolutional sense.
She's... an alien? You sure?
I'll poke around with her for a while, but I'm not getting an immediate alien vibe from her. Except for Xenogirl, of course, and even she is more of an alien-human hybrid type of a thing.
LOL excellent!
After buying Zelara on Saturday and downloading on Sunday, I finally got some time to try a couple of renders. I'm liking all of the alien figure styles. Next I need to have a look at her human side. Here's my render with two of the Zelara alien add-ons (and of course a couple of Josh Crockett male aliens for balance).

WHOA ...happy I waited to purchase... DAZ has additonal 20% deal going on so got Zelara for $31 and the HD for 11 ... saved me $14 off my purchase, which I was going to pick up anyway.
Yeah, I got that 20% discount as well. Also this is one of the few figure releases where I didn't have problems trying to get the maximum discount by trying to find a sufficient number of add-ons I really wanted and having to settle on which ones were simply the cheapest. Buying the Pro-edition was a no-brainer with this model as it had one of the best selections of accesories I've seen in a long time. GOOD JOB, to all involved!
I keep missing these rare, very short lived discounts during the weekday afternoons. I have a day job and cannot shop during the day when they appear. ATTN: DAZ: HAVE ONE OF THESE FLASH SALES IN THE EVENING ONCE IN WHILE!!!
Would be nice (I live on a different continent and slept through half the sale
). On the other hand, I'm also not being tempted by the part that I missed...
