Did a couple of renders (Dawn with Starter Morphs, Alexis for Dawn).

She still needs more morph packs, especially for the face but Dawn isn't unattractive.

Why 3D Universe decided not to include nipple textures for Alexis, I don't understand. Alexis also won't take on standard Dawn clothing as far as I can tell (in Poser Pro 2012) which makes her limited to the provided outfit and I'm not happy about this.

Have you gone to the properties tab of the clothing and ticked the include morphs when conforming, include scales when conforming, match end points when conforming boxes and so on?

This will or should scale the clothing to fit the smaller character..

The boxes are already ticked by default in Dawn's clothing. They aren't scaling down for some reason. Works well enough on V4.2 so I don't understand what the problem is.

You need to add the Alexis morphs to the stock Dawn clothing. To do this:

    - Make sure that you have conformed the Dawn clothing to Alexis, and that the 'Include morphs...' and 'Include scales...' check boxes are checked.
    - Make sure that the piece of Dawn clothing is selected.
    - Select 'Figure -> Copy morphs from...' from the Poser main menu.
    - Select Dawn as the figure to copy from in the 'Copy Morphs' form that is displayed, and then click the OK button.
    - Uncheck all of the morphs in the 'Select objects' form, then check the Alexis (JCM) and Alexis body morphs, and then click the OK button.

The Alexis morphs will be copied to the Dawn clothing, that should now conform properly.

I use this feature all the time to make clothing fit on characters that have custom morphs, or with clothing that does not include the morphs I want to use.

This is a feature only available in Poser Pro 2014 not Poser Pro 2012. Thanks! Clothing is now conforming though I have some issues with the hip area: I tried it with both the bikini and skinny jeans and there seems to be some noticeable distortion in the hip area...

I enjoy using Gen/V5/V6/Gia/G2... in DS. DSON is cumbersome and buggy. And, at least in my experience, DS renders slowly, so there are times I just want to use Poser. I, for one, do not think Dawn is mannish or ugly. I spent 15 minutes in photoshop tweaking the texture, dialed her purchased base morph pack a little, and came up with this. She bends beautifully and I had no issue fitting V4 stuff to her in Poser. I'll be working with her in DS shortly.

For the fitting, did you use the fitting room in 2014?
Yes, but it wouldn't be hard to fit V4's clothes on her without the fitting room. I conformed Genesis clothes on V4 all the time in Pro 2012, before there was a fitting room. You'd need Dawn's donor rig and the setup room and probably the morph brush. Otherwise, wardrobe wizard and crossdresser can tackle it with less fuss. I could demonstrate the method I've outlined, but I'm in a bit of a time crunch at present.

Played a bit with her and she's not bad. Better bendings than V4 but not at the level of Genesis. May be the poser version is better on that part
I don't like the base expressions . Base skin is ok and I don't really find her ugly or masculine

For a DS user I don't really see the point in using her yet as she's inferior to genesis but she's just been out and can only get better with time

    WIP... Bruno Face 01.

Got the chest in the right place too but since the textures are made for a female the Areola texture still looks like a womans so can't show that here.

PS. When I opened up Dawn in ZBrush I thought I had accidentally opened up Genesis 01. For all the complaining about the mesh, sorry the mesh is fabulous and very easy to work with, just like Genesis 01! I'm sure there are areas that need better bending but you know even Genesis had it's measure of fixes by other merchants, 3 come to mind including ZeVO. So just be patient and it will all come together in time.

I can do it in about 90 seconds in the fitting room.
Hm. I bought PP2012 on sale to see if I can even get into Poser, which I did. The more I see that 2014 can do that 2012 can't, I think I need to upgrade.

As a DAZ Studio user, I too feel Dawn is a Poser figure for the folk that won't or can't import G2F via DSON Importer. I'm trying my best to give her a fair crack of the whip, but V6 appeals to me more on every level when i try to compare them.

Dawn might be my back-up plan, but that wouldn't stop me from chatting her up at the office party

Here's Dawn wearing a DS dynamic dress for V4 and hair for G2F - scrubs up quite well for somebody that's being called a fugly munter :P

How did you feel about the facial morphs and expressions? That's the thing that got me. I could see using her for a lot of things, but expressive emotions wouldn't be one of them. I'm sure someone will make morphs that address that, if they haven't already.
Ah, the expressions... well, there's simply no comparison - Genesis is better and G2F/V6/Gia is even better than Genesis. So the problem is that I'm already familiar and comfortable with the capabilities of Genesis that have been developed and expanded over a couple of years... Dawn is a bit like a realistic figure that's been given toon expressions - don't dial them up to 100% or they'll look very pantomime - just small amounts, but even so still quite limiting.

And herein lies the problem; comparing Dawn to how good or bad other figures were when they were first released is perhaps academically interesting, but is actually relatively useless. This is because Dawn is not competing with the newly-released versions of the other figures, but is competing with evolved and updated versions of established figures.

So while I want to see Dawn do well and develop into an advanced figure with serious options, my support will not be fanatical, and Genesis & Genesis 2 will continue to remain as my go-to figures for the foreseeable future.

I have Dawn and the only thing I'll point out that was a big turn off- look closely at her nostrils. Near the front, on the inside (the nose holes, lol) they were making a pretty sharp V instead of being a rounded corner when you use some of the morphs. Genesis/Genesis 2 doesnt do that, and they shouldn't. Doing closeups was out of the question.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one looking up her nose. I tried to adjust them on my own using Poser's morph tool, but, err.. I need some practice with that thing. lol

...I'll need to wait until I have a steady income again to upgrade. So in the meantime, are there any tricks one can do in 2012 to help with clothing fits?

Hahaha, thanks so much. Just playing around for now trying to figure out where all the bulges and bits and pieces goes. The mesh seems similar to Genesis but its laid out slightly differently so just trying to get a feel for how it's all going to come together!

No genitalia? Even if I don't use it often I want the chance to do so if necesary, thats enough for me to go with v6. Just another thougth, we shouldn't compare dawn to v6 but to gen 2 females base.

There are no gens because they wanted to keep Dawn as PG as possible. There are already freebies on sharecg to compensate though.

Someday the world is going to collectively grow the hell up and people will no longer have this ridiculous fear and loathing of the human body. Sadly my continent will be the last hold out for the prudes. If only the Mayflower had sunk en route.

I just picture Helen Lovejoy participating in every production meeting involving the planing stages for every new model being designed by everyone not part of the MakeHuman project.

That was the nipple thread, where many a Daz user learned there's actually a sexual fetish for breasts without nipples and there are magazines and websites featuring photos of women with their nipples photoshopped out.

I actually recently found out there's even a full on Barbie Anatomy fetish where the sex organs are completely photoshopped out so the basic Genesis Male and Female figures are full on perverse sexual fetish material right out of the box.

Hmm, I'm on the edge if I want to invest on Dawn. It'll be nice to have some sort of autofit of V4/Genesis 1/G2F clothing to her or Dawn clothing to G1/G2F, but that probably won't happen.

It isn't hard to do yourself, on HW forums there is a full step by step tutorial with pictures about V4 clone and with Breasts Gone morph (Starter morphpack, I think? or is it in basic?) making Genesis clone is not that hard either.

I tried using that for G2F when that guide first came out, but I keep getting a weird space around the upper glute/lower back area. I'll keep trying.
