Some point down the line I might go back and redo BA's hair. Two Apollo's and three Genesis. I used a variation of the Gia 6 skin shader setup on all of the figures so that they'd all render the same.

I also did a version of the render without the depth of field in case I ever had the free time to go back and try to do an illustration of it. A while back I figured out how to use a zdepth layer to apply dof to a drawing.

I like the depth of field look better, the added smoke looks great, it tells the story of him just transforming better. Over all this is awesome, I downloaded it for my desktop screen. GREAT JOB!!

I prefer the webshooters, I love the idea that Peter Parker, boy genius, can whip up in a few days a material beyond the reach of the material science of the time. There is also something slightly gross about the organic webshooters in his wrists, for one thing, he would have to have reservoirs of web material to spin as many webs as he does that would really bulge out his wrists. Hmm, Popeye as Spider-Man? :-)

I prefer the organic webbing myself. He has the powers of a spider for pete's sake (except Spider-Sense, I don't see Spiders having that). The Web Shooters never made sense to me.

I'm just glad the spinnerets weren't in the same region as a spider's. :)

hmmm Spider Sense.... Don't let the 8 eyes fool you, most spiders are nearly blind, they can detect light and dark and some motion and that is about it, jumping spiders are an exception, they have quite good vision up to 3 or 4 feet. Spiders have no sense of smell, hence why you quite often find them in outhouses and other places that most would not want to hang out. Spiders have no ears and there for no hearing. So spider sense so far is up to blind, deaf, and no smell. What they do have is over 10,000 tiny hairs each one direct wired to its brain, each hair is like the antenna on an insect, they feed the spider all sorts of info about its environment. So if Peter Parker has "Spider Sense" it probably means he has a really hairy back

"ooooo my spider sense is tingling"

Somehow "my back hair is tingling" doesn't have the same ring to it.

In many tarantulas the hairs on the rump are actually barbed like a porcupine and each tipped with a little drop of venom, thier first line of defense against a predator is not to bite but to kick a big cloud of these poison tipped darts into the face of the attacker.

Who wants to see Spiderman shoot poison darts out his butt?

Better than if he has to get close and rub his butt in the enemy's face.

I'm just glad the original designers of the Spider Man character took some artistic license with the placement of his spinnerets.

An actual spider-man would probably be the most disgusting/repulsive superhero.

Plus yeah, that webbing would not be coming from the wrists :S

In a terribly bad movie I saw (can't remember it's name. It was aweful), this man was bitten by a spider. He started gaining the abilities of one. Crawling up walls and ceilings, things of that nature. His "webbing" though came from an odd place. His chest.

This isn't THAT movie, but in this one a guy is bitten by a giant spider and becomes half man, half spider. So bad, MST3K did an episode with it.
