    LPs were better in some ways.  The cover art, and things they did with the covers, are not possible with CD cases.  For instance, Jethro Tull: Stand Up...when you open the cover,artwork of the band pops up like a pop up greeting card.  Three Dog Night: Seven Seperate Fools had giant playing cards with each of the band members on them.  Led Zeppelin: III had a wheel in the cover and several cutouts on the front.  When you moved the wheel, different images showed through the cutouts.  You miss all those things with CDs.

    ..when I was in radio I appreciated we still had LPs instead of CDs (those came into vogue about a year after I left).  One could actually read information about the composer, performer(s), performance, and works from the liner notes to give more background to the listeners without needing high powered magnification.

    And lyrics.  Don't forget lyrics.  A lot (not all) of albums had the lyrics to the songs on the liner notes!

    ...ugh first 100° day of the year forecast for tomorrow.  Weather app says today is supposed to be "much cooler" (?) even though the high is expected to reach 93° (was 92° yesterday).

    Croatia vs. France in the World Cup finals tomorrow.  Early wake up as match starts at 08:00 local time here. Does the surprising underdog Croatian club have one more upset in them after taking both host Russia and powerhouse England down?

    ...22.15 and still in the 80s here. Heat advisory issued for tomorrow.

    Just had some ice creme and it mostly melted before I could finish it.  No wind so no air circulation at all. Need to find air conditioned place tomorrow but that will mean spending money.

    ...not looking good this morning, France up 4 -1 at the 67 min mark.  Would be 3 - 1 were it not for a defencive goal early in the first half.  Croatia's incredible run appears to have come to an end.

    ...sitting at an air conditioned pub sipping a fine Kolsch (a very light crisp German brew) 98 Fs right now with the hottest part of the day yet to come. High clouds look to move in later which will trap the heat in and make for another sleepless night. Not even a breeze by the river today.

    Complaint:  I spent all afternoon moving my best video card from my spare computer to my primary computer.  I thought that I had put the new best video card into the secondary computer because its old video card had completely died and I need a video card in it ASAP.

    Good thoughts but it wasn't true.    I now remember many months ago I bought the new video card with the intention of permitting me to move the less sophisticated card from my primary to my secondary computer but when I tried the new card in the primary computer it didn't work.  So, after trying several options and not getting it to work, it ended up in my secondary computer, leaving my primary computer with its original old undercapable video card. indecision

    But since I just now spent another whole afternoon trying to do something that I had completely forgotten that I had tried before, I guess its just another symptom of creeping senility. sad The silver lining of this cloud is that after 4 hours of futzing around failing to invent the wheel, again, I did finally remember having done this once (I hope it was only once) before. yes

    Query:  Why would the MSI N730-2GD3V3 (GeForce GS-730) video card not work in my primary machine that is actually much newer than my secondary machine?  Is it because the primary machine is an AMD based CPU and the secondary machine has an Intel CPU?   By not working I mean, upon power applied I get an initial HP burst screen but nothing else.  Oh, one other fact, the primary machine's motherboard has no onboard graphics chip and it came with its current video card already installed so there's no way I can boot via a working video card and run the driver installer for the newer card  I tried.  indecision  Perhaps there's something in the BIOS that could be tweaked but I can't even get the system to boot to the BIOS with the new card.

    Years ago I would have dived into this problem, wallowed in the mud for a few days and rooted out an answer myself but I've slipped too far behind the tech wave and I'm too old for swimming in crap anymore. sad
