I wasn't expecting Mika 8 to be released at all. Nice surprise. Into the cart she goes. I thought The Girl 8 was gonna be released. I'm starting to wonder if they'll skip her entirely this time around.
First impression from the email promo: Meh.
After looking closely at the character, the bundle, and the surrounding sale options: Meh.
I am clearly not the target audience for this one.
I have some projects on my list that will require a host of assorted fae characters, and there was enough diversity, expressions and costumes in this set for me to grab it. This will mix and match with other sets, so I can make whatever I need.
However, I need male elves, etc. too...hint hint. : )
Sure =)
Wow. Really not much difference in those shapes. I can’t believe a new figure base is marketed as a different character when the differences look really minor.
It is for my little sister, though she spells it "Bobbie".

Anyone use their PC coupon on Mika pro bundle with the free items in the art? I have the pro bundle, 3 add ons and the 10 free items and the PC coupon is only taking 3.00 off instead of 6.00
Thanks a bunch. Just as i suspected. Teen Josie 7 and Mika 8 as basically the same with small morph differences.
That's a known issue. Free items take a portion of the coupon. Contact customer support and tell them the problem. They'll usually convert the excess payment as store credits.
I am really tempted. I don't have many fairies or fae figures and I love the 10 free environment items you get for getting the pro bundle, much better for me that free previous generation bundles. Hmmmm decisions, decisions
I guess this makes a Teen Josie 7 for Teen Josie 8 product kinda pointless... not entirely, but...
Teen Josie 7 looks more elf-like though in body shape than Mika 8.
I was cooking this up when Fisty beat me to it. But thought I'd post the render anyway. :)
Mika 8 and Teen Josie 7 "out of the box" (but with Mika's "Low Translucency" setting):
While they are quite similar, I like Mika's looks more. I think she's cuter and I definitely like her nose.
.
Lol I'll have have a huge wee dram of the special sheep liniment. Na Laird, no king, we willna be fooled again! Ya scunner!
Just curious do you know how many Gen 8 Pro Bundles you need to qualify for the extra 20% off. I have 3 I think and no sign of the offer under my account.
And speaking of curious am I the only one waiting (endlessly it seems) for Lilith 8 ? I see lots of mentions of the girl and Mei Lin for obvious reasons (adding a new ethnicity) but I always found Lilith had a different feel than the standard supermodel asset. She also usually came with Goth/Sorceress type outfits etc which fits my render style/needs. If I am alone in my wanting her maybe she sold so badly as Gen 7 she is not on the radar.

@Kharma, If you make the purchase using the coupon, you can ask support for a refund of the difference and they will do that. However, they have asked us to avoid using the coupon on carts with free items, if possible. With so many recent offers including free items, refunds due to this issue are swamping the Customer Service folks.
Just passing on the information.
Just goes to show, people have different tastes. I love her make up.
I'm sorry but they don't look that alike to me. The face shape is different, the thighs are different, the waist hips and breasts are different.
I'd love a Lilith 8! If for some crazy reason they don't make one, I'll keep using Lilith 7 (and occasionally 6.) Great figure!
Those add-on morphs extras add a lot of value to mika. After looking at them I'm considering her...
I like her a lot. I guess I'm not bored of pixies yet.
Thanks y3kman and L'Adair for the info, I ll just keep it for another order this month, too bad they can't find a way to make it work.
Well, she's everything that one can expect of a Thorne doll. And that's saying quite a bit (like something on the order of 2/3 of the reason that A3 was so popular for so long. People were using the Thorne characters that were made for her).
There's a reason why Thorne dolls are popular. And they are overwhelmingly recognizable. And that's all without the culture of scarcity which seemed to produce some of the drive behind the Alice cult. (No one is ever going to mistake Alice for some other model either.)
Well, after that pose pack for Ollie and Mika hit the store about a month ago (the reference to Mika was removed from the store page but it was the pack with the fairy and the Giant), there wasn't going to be a lot of shock and awe when Mika herself showed up. That was too much of a hint to ignore. The only surprise was that it took as long as it did.
.
I just tried using my monthly coupon and only taking off 2.00 instead of 6.00
Yeah, I don't think any of them really look the same.. similar style, for sure, they're all ovbiously Thorne dollies, but not so similar that I wouldn't use them for a group shot and be worried about them looking like identical twins.
@Geminii23, This is a known bug. As I told Kharma, Customer Support will refund the difference, however, they are asking us to avoid using the coupon when the cart has free items. Daz has been using so many "free with purchase" promos, CS is getting swamped with refund requests for coupons that didn't apply correctly. We can help them out by using the coupons on carts that do not have free items, whenever possible.
Just passing on the information.
Still, immediately their faces look quite different to me. I've been morphing faces a lot and noticed that it doesn't take much face morphing, like just making the face a little bit longer, to make a character look like a completely different person (which is why it often can be very difficult to make a convincing look-alike). I guess that's why artists can continue to spew out apparently unique characters over and over again.
Likewise, different textures often look remarkably alike when applied to the same morph.
Same here. She has more personality, IMO, which is usually what I'm going for.
