I am really in two minds over this one. I like the figure and everything in the pro bundle, but as others have already stated, she is very similar to Karyssa and not hugely different from Mika 7. Normally, the free extra pro bundles would tip the balance for me but this time with the 10 free items, though there are some nice things there, none of them shout out "must have" to me. Even with the extra 20% off offer, I'm not feeling like the overall price is a bargain this time.
I might just buy the Shaved Side Hair and Fairy Wings which I really do like, and then use them with Karyssa 8.
Time to leave everything in the cart, go and get dinner and think carefully about this one.
Mika 8 and Brisen. I didn't see any AE for them in my content library, but it is possible I missed it.
Well, I'll buy the Bundle but I just don't know if I should right now. If I remember right, options did get better with the recent bundles within the promo period.
And I have to say it again that this news Figure 7 for Figure 8 is a mess. I have Mika 7 but as I use Gen8 more often recently, I want to be able to have the older shape/texture available easily. Sure could go the manual morph transfer route but why the heck is DAZ not better discounting those products for the owner of the older Generation/Bundle. Heck, actually that product should be free if one owns both Figure 7 as well as Figure 8.

Some of the comments in this thread have not been well received... if you're not here to sing her praises and lavish her with flattery you might be better off elsewhere.
Have to say that she isn't anywhere near an elf for me, though I know she likely is so for others. For me she is just another child looking character with pointy ears. She is done well, just really not my type. IMO an elf is more of what is found in Lord of the Rings, several games and such. She's too small to be an elf, a fairy I can agree on though :)
Still, I would have loved seeing a male bundle this time, though at the same time I suppose I should be happy as my money don't arrive for another 2 weeks or so (once a month). Hopefully next release is a male, and a male I actually want too or has enough things in the bundle I want.

As someone who has neither Karyssa nor Mika 7, the 20% off pro bundle, etc. made her worthwhile to me. The hairs are very nice and I often have use for wings for characters I'm rendering; so even if Mika doesn't get a lot of use, still a worthwhile purchase in my book.
I for one, don't have salt for Mika 8. Actually I'm happy and give her all the sugar. Gives me a sigh of relief. There's a game I want this month, so it's a win for me
Actually after seeing some of the images posted, she looks good. I wish she would have come out before Karyssa 8. I think they are twin sisters. lol
Don't need none of those "I can't have a real nose, so I end up with this little upturned stump" pixies...I didn't even go through the possible 10 free packs, as I have utterly no need for a pixie...
Now pictsies.... that would be different.. but them ain't cute but nasty buggers, and them female pictsies aren't cute either, but more like the queen in an ant-hill... so they use to get a bit more volumen over the years, due to giving birth to a couple hundred young ones...

Your not, I love her and bought her. I see a resemblance to Karrysa but they don't look like twins to me by any stretch of the imagination. Of course, I do happen to be pretty fond of Thorne's girls anyway, again, for me, its classic fantasy at its best. She could go either way as far as elf or fairy, I have enough morphs that if I want to make her more typically elf (tall, slender more narrow etc) I certainly can.
I also don't have Karyssa 8, if I remember correctly (no guarantees on that one lol) there wass't enough stuff in the bundle to really entice me to buy and I already had most of the pro bundles they offered as incentive. And while I only 28 items to choose from, I cleared at least 6 off my wishlist. I got $400 worth of stuff I will use for $52 and some change.
I've already made 2 renders with her today and I haven't even finished downloading everything....
I just think fae characters, and assocated escapist fantasy, are fun and I can not understand the strength of the reaction against her. In my view, the worst criticism she could be accused of is being a mere pot boiler; but Daz need to boil their pots as much as anyone else. They took, in my opinion, quite a large risk with Ollie and Edie, and I really hope the sales figures justify that decision, but I expect the popularity of these figures on the forums might not be totally representative of the full DAZ market. So a more certain to sell, albeit unoriginal, release may have been planned as a follow-up just to be safe.
Anyway, I'm off the make another Mika render....
If we got some kind of sign or indication that Daz is receptive to salt and actually is learning from it, then perhaps they'd receive more sugar. Just saying.
I think that Mika 8 is a cute character as far as characters go, I'm just not personally seeing any 'fae' or 'elf' in her. Cosplayers slap on elf ears all the time, but that doesn't make them an actual Elf.
Mika 8 should stay in the rotation for a few days at least, so I have plenty of time to ponder that purchase.
BTW, I liked and paid for Mika 7, and was happy with that purchase.
I'm really impressed by the bundle and add-ons with Mika 8. I don't know if it was a top-down directive or just the PA leanings but there's so _much_ diversity there compared to the normal bundle releases, where you're lucky if you get a single dark-skinned variation. These pixies feel like they're from a lot of different regions of the planet.
(Though I too would like a second female African-derived realistic Featured model. I've hoped for a teenager but a granny would also be great. That's actually what I speculated Mika 7 might be.)
Well that's a cool thing about a Market. Not everyone is is going to buy everything. I know when I go to a store. I only get the stuff I want. If the whole store had everything I wanted. I would be broke. Oh wait, I am broke now! LOL!
I throw lot's of sugar to Daz, I really like Ollie and Edie, so their next product is not for me. thats good. I for one have spent too much money the last 10 months. I have yet to even use 1 percent of my entire library. I bet not one person in this entire Daz user base, has used 100 percent of their library. unless they are really tight and keep a small amount of content. Of course I have way too much being part of this world for 15 years.
I do look forward to seeing all Mika 8 images! You all always inspire me, which is why I been here so long over the decade and a half!

I like her as well; I also liked getting 9 free items (I had all but 9 of the featured items), and the items in the Pro bundle were good enough that even if she'd been another Edie (who I didn't like at all, but recognize the value of as a 10% dial-in character) I'd have gotten the bundle.
I love the Thorneworks style, and am happy to see more of it. Even if I don't render fairies and elves themselves very often, I like how mixing them in to other characters works out, and I like the extras PA's put out in association with them. And I liked Mika 8's look, specifically. It reminds me of someone I've known, who had 'elfin' features.
I also want to point out that Mika 8 (and some of the Pro bundles before her) gave folks the 'customizable bundle' that folks have been asking for, where you can pick any of the 'add ons' to create a personalized bundle that discounts the total price. So there's a fixed set of items you get (the Pro bundle) and then a set of customizable items beyond that. It's a really good compromise between a 100% customizable bundle (which doesn't work well for the company from a financial standpoint) and completely fixed bundles.
Still, if she's not your style, move on...another character will be out in 2-3 weeks.

I'm still undecided. I don't render fairies, but I'm always looking for good "cutiefiers" to mix with other characters. And Mika 8 seems to mix very well.
The clothing items are pleasantly versatile. Except Fantasy Adventure Outfit there is no pure fairy outfit. Eolande outfit goes well as an evening dress. And Dewdrop outfit looks like a normal girl's dress to me. Mischievous outfit may be borderline. But without the arm cuffs and socks, It could be a party dress.
Add Bronwyn Hair as a useful normal hair and Shaved Side Hair if I ever need to render a punk.
Hard to resist, although there is no real must have for me.

I'm once again dissapointed, that DAZ release another female character.. Sex sells obviously more also at DAZ.
It's not anti-fairie, it's "already got a whole lotta fairie" for many of us. I don't use Mika 7 and Karyssa 8 much, or the rest of them. Can't really justify picking up another one when my product library is over 200 pages long.

This is where I'm at too. Mika 8 is cute, but isn't clearly filling in any checkboxes for me. I haven't said no to her yet, and the bundle has some nice stuff in it, she just doesn't feel Elvish to me.
Waiting a few days can sometimes reap a few additional rewards r.e. sales... Even with Edie (that one day coupon that appeared out of the blue helped there.). So I wait.
I haven't pulled the trigger yet on a few other sales currently in the sales cue, but I'll need to decide on those soon... Unlike that other store, which even has a calendar for their sales with clickable links, that shows end dates for the various sales in an easy to read calendar grid format... Well here in the Daz store you rarely know for sure when a sale might end...
Exactly. I have 20 years of Thorne fairies. I'm "all fairied out" ;).

tbh, unless the OP clearly states "No Critique/Criticism", then people will voice all opinions: Positive and Negative.
Actually the OP started the thread as a disgruntled consumer. I like reading through the different views. It's what a forum is all about
The Pro bundle is #1 in the What's Hot section so it just goes to show that the opinions on the forum represent a minority of the actual consumers at the store.
Not the only one @dreamfarmer, I love her too. My allergies are killing me so basically just watching the forum and not saying much, mind too foggy
I took a look at Mika ProBundle and eliminate one by one each package item that came with it until I was left with just the hair from April. Then I took a look at Mika herself and while I think she looks cute and I could probably use her to change V8 up a bit, I was turned off purchasing her by the horrendous make up selection. Ok, have a few eyeshadows and lipsticks that are weird but put some nice *normal* colors in there as well. The makeup appeared to have been added to the material skin using a photoshop brush cutout just splotched on. The promot shot of Mika, there is no subtle highlights in the black or pink, just flat paint....why not make black eyeliner if going for the sultry look? Instead she looks like a raccoon or went a few rounds with Tyson. Pretty figure marred by bad make up...maybe DAZ ought to sell the figure plain and then have make up kits sold separately.
I wouldn't call them twins, sisters maybe when looking at just the shapes, once you add the skin texture they're all quite a bit different.
Can you do one of Teen Josie 7 next to Mika 8? I think Teen Josie 7 looks a lot like Mika 8.
