This is Luna wearing the G3 Mall Girl vest and shorts - I like her round face. I used the free Spotlight script by Winterbrose (one of the Holiday freebies) to light this image. The lights are above the girl's head and I have lowered the intensity to about 50% and pointed two of them at her feet. I think these lights are really useful and hope they are made available again.

Great article - was fun reading your take on things and seeing some of your art. Thank you for your comments on my dForce thread, glad to hear it attracts people's attention! And I agree with your comments on Novica's thread, first one I check out whenever I come online.

OT: Every year I put up a holiday light show synchronized to music. I posted a video of this year's show if you'd like to see it. Best to view it full screen.

That is amazing!  I laughed out loud when your figure spoke. I don't think I've ever seen something spelled out, either. It's also amazing that arches' lights can go different directions. How long did it take you to set that up?????!!!!

Setup time varies by year. I usually add a new feature or new song each year and that takes more time to work out. The physical setup is about 20-25 hours and 10 hours to take down. The central tree is new this year (replaced a simpler one I had) and it became a bear as I had to build the display which took a couple days then figure out how to program the lights, redo all the song sequences to use it, and then it overwhelmed my data network so I had to set up a second one in parallel. So I ended up pulling a number of 12+ hour days sorting it all out. It will be easier next year (which I say every year, and then I add something new, and oops, it takes more time than I thought). It's a lot of fun to do and local people always ask if I have it up and running yet.

Well, that's frustrating! It reminded me when three years ago, Best Buy had their Black Friday sales, THEN told people the shipping would be delayed and delayed. It was a mess and they lost a lot of confidence from consumers. Some people didn't get their items for CHRISTMAS!  Did you order this from a company or one like Amazon?

Meanwhile, those of you who got Sakura, what do you think of her and her products? (other than the eye issue, that is.)

She's adorable. I just completed a render of her this evening. Tomorrow, after work, I will render her in the bunny suit. As for her eyes, I bought @3DOutlaw Sakura eye product and I really like it.

Local retailer - they're generally pretty good, and I'll be able to find out why it's slow. I just hope they can work something out on the Assassin's Creed: Origins coupon, since that extra only runs till the 31st.

@stormlyght  That outfit is adorable for her, and her skin looks touchable. Nice balance of sheen.  That hair looks awesome too. Is it the hair that is light, or is it backlit / rim?  That eye product looks perfect with her.

@nath  Hope it works out for you. I stay away from video games because I'd be addicted LOL. The graphics in video games has evolved to a "wow!" factor. I still remember Pong on our huge tv, with the bulky joystick console.

    Hi,

Thank you for the kind words! I really like Sakura. She is easy to pose and light.

Her hair texture isn't naturally light colored on the ends. I added Phil's Hair Lustre Shaders to the hair and added some rim lighting to get the effect I wanted. To further emphasize the light on her hair, I used the dodge tool and levels in photoshop.

Back in the saddle to render some products- I mentioned the Cowl Neck Mini Dress (Gen3F)  for a swimsuit cover? Well, I started in that direction... but got sidetracked. I wanted to see if that dress was really as sexy as the promos, and oh my goodness. It's definitely something I'll never use as a dress, or without putting a top under it. But here it is, with the different kitbashing.

I pu the Linley Outfit (Gen3F) jacket over it. You'll need to expand the jacket a bit.  Note, that jacket has good material zones- pockets, sleeve hems, sleeves, buttons, etc. Very easy to customize. This jacket is very casual and doesn't really "match" the luxury of the draping cowl midriff, but will give you an idea of what a jacket will look like over the dress.

Vintage Bikini   is a nice one to have in your library. Why? Because it's got many material zones. The piece between the cups is a zone, the cups are one zone, the piece on the bottom is another zone. (So you can slim down the top by hiding that bottom part.) Using Surface pane, use the opacity and take out the straps so they don't poke through at the neck.  I used Destiny Garden's DG Iray Tropical Fabrics Shaders for the bikini top. I suggest tiling of 40 for patterns, you really don't want large patterns IF you're trying to get the sections to blend. That small piece inbetween the cups looks a bit funky with bigger tiling, and looks "off" if you have it different than the cups (IMO.)  A darker color seems to blend better too.

TIP: Make that center piece between the cups about 10 numbers LIGHTER than the cups and underneath, and it will look the same color.

You can stop there and have a very short mini, sexy outfit,  or add a form fitting  Abigail Outfit (Gen3F)  pants. I didn't have to do anything to them, so keep those in mind underneath really tight dresses.

Nydo Hair (Gen3F) is being worn by FW Ana-Sofia HD (V7)

Here is a test render of Sakura.  I did make her nose and chin slightly less sharp, but her morphs are untouched in the second render which compares her high and low skin translucency options (rendered to less than 50% so grainy). As @stormlyght mentioned, the character is very easy to pose.  Also seems quick to render.  I used her original eyes, so if you look close, you will see the gap issue that's been discussed in the Sakura thread in the Commons area.  The Suteki expressions seem to work really well on the figure.  She's wearing Long Pigtail Anime Hair  (which I shaded using Sketchy Toon Edge) and Goth Outfit.  While long hair is sometimes difficult for me (I get it poking into the figure etc), this was very easy to just move around and fix.  I tried several outfits (gen 8 and gen 3), everything fit nicely on the character with no problem.

Another Sakura with Sakura hair, all default. Outfit is 3 in 1 Dungarees, really nice outfit except that nearly all the shirt textures are plastered with skulls, owls and other stuff, so I used a 3rd party texture. The shoulder holes on the top shirt (not shown here) should also be optional IMO. Shoes are JooJoo Sneakers which are really nice and well done.

Looks great @Taoz.  Now I'm going to have to get the shoes if they weren't in the bundle!

  • NovicaNovica Posts: 23,859

@worldsedge  The hair looks good with that shader, and glad it's easy to pose because there's a lot of it LOL!   Thanks for showing the translucency differences.

@taoz   I like those shoes, they're not clunky, but look more relaxed than a streamlined fit. They look like they have some "give" to them when posed.

The only thing I don't really like is the extremely pointy chin, I'd have to relax/ broaden that a bit. Depending on the light, it really looks pointed to the extent it distracts me.

She looks good in the face and the combination of hair and clothing really makes a statement. The face shows the aging well. BUT....One thing I'm not liking about aging products though- IMO the  hands and arms just don't match so far as the aging process, and the neck needs a lot more folds to match the aging of the face. There's o flab/ loss of gravity on the arms. . They're too toned for the back of the arm, the section from the shoulder through the elbow (underneath the bicep )

I haven't tried any of them yet, but there were some body morph products recently released which addressed the arms and having more of a poofy sotmach(midlife gravity.) . Not sure about the neck. I'll go look and be back in a few (and anyone finding products that help with aging saggies, feel free to jump in.
