It's frustrating trying to find a OEM replacement battery for a laptop that is no longer supported by the manufacturer.

    Try batteries.com!

Agreed, I have a miniature Super-VHS camera and recorder sold in the '90s (a JVC SC-F007) that had a special battery, can't find a replacement battery now for love nor money.   Yeah, there are lots of cheaper better camera units available now but this was one of the first really mobile sports cameras.  It came in a slimline aluminum James Bond type attache case with all the attachments.  You could mount the camera part (about 2.5" by 5") on a helmet and a cord ran down to the small recorder (4.5" x 5") on your belt.  I still have lots of images of my other half and I on small Super-VHS-C tapes from that unit.  And being Super-VHS it had good quality image for the time.  That was back when people at Disney World were still hoisting 8 pound cannons on their shoulder to video their family fun and we zipped around with this little cracker jack box in our hand.  laugh

A few years ago I thought I was in luck and had found the exact battery number in a catalog at a specialty battery internet store and paid an arm and a leg for it.  But when it arrived it wasn't the same dimensions.  Not even close.   And yes, it had the same battery numbers but it was a totally different battery.  Bummer!   However, I did return it and get my money back.  I wrote a very detailed letter and a photo of the old battery to help them find the proper replacement, but they were unable to find any references to the specific battery I needed.

But time marches on and the last time I tested the unit with its power cord, the flip up (2"x2.5") display screen didn't work anymore.  However it had standard video outputs too and the camera and recorder still worked. Not bad for a 25 year old precision machine. Shame about the display screen though.

Didn't sleep at all last night. Got maybe five hours or so of sleep during the following day.  Got in bed tonight at 11pm.  It's 3am and I still can't sleep.  Figured I'd get up to draw a little bit. No luck.  Just frustrated af with this piece, can't bring myself to work on much else, and I'm getting a splitting headache from the lack of sleep and am yawning a ton BUT STILL CAN NOT SLEEP.  Sigh.

...I've had nights like that. Not fun, especially when I was still holding down a full time plus job.

    Did somebody say batteries??

Tricky story behind this pic.  The dragon there is basically a thunder wyvern so makes zappities all over and such, especially in its wings. This one in particular is a character of my friends, and has the interesting trait in that he likes to eat batteries for some reason. I drew this as a gift for him of his character offering up a pack of batteries to someone ^v^

...indeed, temps more "seasonable" here and I can finally see the sky again.

Finally got the last of my stuff out of the old place, now comes the unpacking, but for now a break and a bike ride in the new 'hood to do some much needed marketing as I finally have all my cooking implements  (first things I unboxed).  Hmm what to do...Fishy? Pasta? Teriyaki and rice, my special Mac with Many Cheeses?  Decisions decisions.

Already have a bottle of my favourite Potato Wodka (there happens to be a Boozateria right across the street, and a really nice one at that).

...well bought s slab of fishy for tomorrow, going to use my special herb rub on it (no longer can do blackened Cajun as that might set the entire building's alarm off sad) with buttered baby carrots and my special Garlic/Tarragon/Black Pepper roasted red potatoes.

For tonight it was a big fat bratwurst with baked beans tonight, washed it down with a Medio Litro bottle of "real" Coke (the kind from south of the border).

Feels so good to be able to really cook again, instead of just warming up convenience foods in the nuker

On the ride home I noticed water beginning to fall from the sky, felt absolutly refreshing.  Been mostly light, but it makes the air smell so nice and clean again after all that smoke we've been enduring.

Think I'm going to sleep very well tonight

have to learn how to make rumballsheart

        Rum Balls

1 12-ounce package (2 cups) semisweet chocolate chips
    1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup light corn syrup
    2/3 cup rum
5 cups finely crushed vanilla wafers (2 12oz boxes)
    powdered sugar

In a heavy medium saucepan, heat chocolate pieces over low heat until melted, stirring constantly.  Remove from the heat.  Stir in sugar and corn syrup.  Stir in rum till well mixed.
Grind about 10 wafers at a time in blender (any more than that and the process takes far longer to do becuase the larger pieces quickly lodge in the wafer powder out of reach of the blades instead of bouncing around in the blender getting ground up).  Sift through a strainer; anything that won't go through the strainer will make noticeable unpleasant chunks in the rum balls.
Add vanilla wafers to chocolate mixture and mix well.  Let stand about 30 minutes.  Shape into 1-inch balls.  Roll in powdered sugar.
