Yes, you can convert to object if you don't own the full version (which stinks and is huge), or you can click Export to Fibermesh in the editor, which saves a huge amount of memory (but... it's still pretty absurdly large, so my approach is just delete it when saving the file and go through adding it again if I need to render again).

It's not hard, it's just time consuming. ;)

    ..thanks.

Note that, personally, I prefer to use LAMH in 3DL still, because I find the time needed to set up and manage it in Iray is annoying. And it looks BEAUTIFUL in 3DL, one of my favorite things that still gets me to pick up and poke at 3Dl stuff nowadays (the other being NPR)

Playing with my fembot, which is probably something I should keep to myself around here, eh?

Iray really shined while working on her mats and rendering her in this environment.

    Very cool! Love this!

...true, but if it saves on memory for me it's worth it.  Just not satisfied with some transmapped hairs in Iray.

If you can apply or make decent head hair, the benefit there is that you can save it as a prop and reuse it (so the save files aren't huge), and since hair doesn't typically need to be autofit or follow closely expressions and whatnot, you don't have to do much with it once you've converted it once.

What I would do is generate the hair, get it how you like it, convert to Iray, unparent the object and save it is an asset/prop. Then delete it and reload it as that prop and do the usual tricks to place hair you can't autofit (parent, collide, etc).

I'd test it with one of the Furrythings presets until you get the hang of it.

... come to think of it, I should try that.

If I may be so bold? Where is the model from? Your render is excellent but I haven't seen a good 911 in any of the "usual places".

Another day, another car render. Porsche 911. All is Iray except the background that was added through Photoshop.

@Ivy "I see Daz site is still F@c%ing up, and still not allowing me to upload anything. to the gallery or even the forums now GGRRRR!!."

I hear you. I can upload to the forum fine, but need to use Chrome to upload to the gallery. It's not like uploading images to the Net is a brand new thing.

What browser do you use, Ivy?

@fastbike1 I hear yeah just very frustrating thats all.

     @Tjohn

I use Firefox as my default browser. which I just get a continous uloading message. when I try to use IE . I get . "I am not allowed to upload this type file" message and with chrome. all I get is spinning dials , I have added Daz3d.com & cloudfare as a trusted sites. and Kaspersky is not showing it s blocking anything so there no more i can do on my end .

Daz site is the only site  I have issue with uploading pictures to. aand they are just in ,jpg formats   in fact i have been forced to use sharecg.com or devientart & google, in order to share my renders in the daz forums . which is pretty pathetic considering how frustrating it is for me to try to loadrenders here. .

here another  render I was not able to upload to the gallery or this forum thread again today. but no problem uploading to deviantart.com   piss ha !

@Ivy: Dumb question then - Is your FF the latest version?

I'm sorry you're having so much trouble. It makes me wonder if it has something to do with a security issue with your ISP provider.

  • nonesuch00nonesuch00 Posts: 18,762

When I have that problem it is because I am trying to upload a rendered 4K PNG as-is. I alsways have to convert to JPG if I want to keep the same resolution picture or scale the PNG to a smaller resolution to make the image small enough to upload.

They really should update their gallery to hand 4K PNGs as that is increasing the standard size to render in.

    HI Tjohn

    Yes the newest FF.

I thought maybe a security issue with my ISP provider router too. But if my ISP was blocking me from uploading at daz would they not also block me from uploading to youtube, google, deviantart.com   Renderosity.com ,sharecg.,com. vemio, cgsociety.org ,renderotica.com, etc etc.. I have not been able to up-load any renders either raw or with post work using Photoshop for about a mont here at daz... all my renders are in .jpg format and if I use "IE" to try to upload my pictures.  I get "I am not allowed to upload this file type". message,  when i use firefox it just keeps trying to upload  with 0 results after 5 minutes.and chrome gives me just a spinning dial.  I have not had any issues uploading my renders any where else on the internet. so I have nothing to compare this error message  too. This has been happening for a while intermitting.  but now I can't upload nothing at all not even to the forum threads . I was getting the same " Your not allowed to upload this file type" message. with IE .

I sent in tickets on it a while back and was told they were aware of a forum issue this was back in January.4 months later its worst than ever.  so I don't get it, there is nothing i can do on my end to correct the situation, any ideas what else can be done?

I'll jump in with everyone else to say outstanding work! Wow, everything is done so well, The water, and it's interaction with other objects in the scene. The ship, it's sails are perfect. The fog/haze giving the feeling of increasing distance, and of course the seagulls that make you feel as if something is where the camera is. Wow.......
