Very true.
I suspect the notch is the same as other models I have. If so, you can remove it by smoothing out the tip of the nose in the Normal Map. (Make a copy, of course. Even if you'll never use the original, it would be a pain if an update overwrote your changes.)
The DAZ team really is getting better and better at doing distinctive faces in their base figures. And there really does seem to be a pretty wide range of body types as well.
I'm coming to really detest the makeup designs, though. I can't think of anyone who paints that heavily for daylight viewing (over the age of about 16, that is). I'm also getting really fussy about eyebrows.
Yeah, trying to pull together a pro bundle every month (let alone two) is probably a real challenge, so I doubt that we're going to get anything designed with a specific figure in mind any more. Not that it was that solid a match before, either.
There's where something like the PC really used to shine. Particularly during their Anniversary month. I still remember with real fondness the year of the 1930s carnival, where for nearly a month the clothing releases were all tied to the theme, and by the end of it, we had a suitable dress and apron, a men's suit, some men's work clothing and a swarm of texture sets for all. My only regret now was that they were all for gen4. Later on they did a '50s series for Genesis 1. But it's been a while since they did a real series of related clothing items. And the main DAZ Originals releases I don't think ever has done that. (I.e., suggestion for a future March Madness? That's the main DO fest.)
For that matter. How long has it been since anyone posted a poll of just what general type of content people want? I know, myself, that if something really looks good, or has useful looking components, I'll probably consider it, regardless of the genre. But a lot of people really are looking for specific content.
I honestly don't think she's based on any existing person.
I would honestly say that I would use Genevieve more than the other base figures at this point. The face is amazing. Lilith 7 was pretty good too!
I'll probably purchase it when I have a moment to check out all the other promos today... perhaps get a render in tonight?
Are you kidding? I appreciated that some of the makeup looked like the kind of thing older women have tattooed on as 'permanent makeup'. And the same kind of women sometimes ditch natural eyebrows entirely for painted ones. This isn't an American aesthetic though. But I suspect Genevieve isn't American either.
Me too. I like ALL the PAs characters based on her! I have Nieve and BD River in my cart too. I love the avant-garde makeup too. I've just been googling Vogue/avant-garde/editorial fashion for inspiration! I saw a few Vogue model poses that look exactly like G3 promos LOL. When I first started with Poser ages ago, I loved doing high fashion renders, Genevieve is inspiring me to do that again!
When I said I was really happy about the slimline body, that doesn't mean "skinny people rule!" It means that it's a different shape (and I do actually mean different shape, not thinner shape, because we have shapes like Arabella too) from other figures. I've praised Bethany's shape too.
The whole point of buying these figures is to have a range of shapes that are different from one another, Genevieve fits that brief really well in a direction that happens to be the slender one.
She loses points for the notch-nose - that not being a separate morph really spoiled Arabella too. It's not a common enough feature to not stand out jarringly anytime the shape's face is used.
Having distinct features like the notched nose is exactly what can make someone a supermodel! And you can always remove it in post and I don't recall seeing it in the PA models based on her so it looks like it can be morphed out. To me, V7 as a whole is VERY distinctive, you can always tell it's her, but she's gorgeous. Most of the models are pretty distinctive actually, Eva is, Bethany obviously, the Girl. I think pretty much all the DOs except maybe Karen and Rune are pretty distinctive and recognizable...
I like distinct features, but if it's going to be something that really stands out on one specific body part, I'd rather it be a separate morph that you can turn on and off. And yes, you could make your own fix morph to cancel it, but I'm not really a big fan of the whole "pay us for this figure so you can work fixing stuff we should have done later" Cough, moustache Darius, one eye colour Leo. I think the nose is less distinct than with Arabella but it's a continuing issue in which the most expensive figures have the fewest options.
Interesting figure. I like the face shape, she has character.
But though its nice to see an older female for a change, she looks rather plastic and fake in nearly all the promos. That seems like a big step backward from the more photoreal looking skin that recent Daz Originals have had. And some of those make ups, YIKES! It looks like her lips are constructed of glass. They have more reflection than her eyes...uh, that seems a bit extreme, don't you think? I'm totally with JOdell on that one. Why does Daz like such ugly makeup??? Most of the females I have seen wear any makeup remotely like this were teenagers or college girls going clubbing, certainly not mature women like Genevieve. Look at the women's pictures that were posted in the previous pages, none have crazy makeup like that.
I prefer Gwennili. Or as I like to call her, Milli Gwennili. Girl you know its true!
Someone should use Gwennili's skin on Genevieve (Ok, these names are getting out of hand...) I bet she would look amazing. But then why buy Gene -lets call her Gene-, just for the morph?
I don't have anything against thinness by any means, I mean that it looked "strange" somehow (her skinny legs, that is). I can't put my finger on it. Maybe it's in conjunction with her long waist? I dunno... I like Arabella very much, who is rather thin and waifish. But this one just doesn't look right to me somehow. LOL By the same token I absolutely disliked Gia 7 when she came out and Rune I wasn't too fond of either, but I ended up getting them both eventually *shrug*

When I first got to try Genevieve, I didn't see Eva until I threw this Olympia 7 skin on...then she jumped out at me. :p
Having credit card problems, so can't buy anything this go-round. I liked the look of Genevieve and wishlisted her and the archer outfit (hate the top, but the "patiala pants" are a nice touch and would be useful for kitbashing.)
OH!!! Well I can see the Eva Green likeness now! Couldn't see it before,
Whoa.
That's really amazing, Saiyaness
I never pay attention to the blurb about figures - "strong woman" etc. I think it's just the theme of the releases for the day - every day has a different theme. I think of it as a 'marketing story' for a product - like how some vendors like to write a little 'story' about their characters. It doesn't mean anything, it's just an advertisement, rather than saying "it's New Figure Day!".
With the iconic bases, I'm more interested in the skin - whether it's high quality and looks realistic - and what the figure morph itself brings to the party. The "niche" of the figure - here's your new warrior woman!; here's your new fairy woman! etc - doesn't mean anything.
Below is an iray render of the mix of shapes: Genevieve 75%, Gia7 25%, Eva 7HD Details 100%
Skin is from V4.2 (Party Goer) treated with N.G.S. Anagenessis 2 - Revolution and applied to G3F with Cayman studios converter.
I really like htat Nydo hair! I just wish there was some way of getting rid of the few long "flyaways" at hte front and sides.
when saw her thought she reminded me of Allison Janney a bit
Loved the more mature look and thought Euro as well. Hadn't planned to buy, and then the pro bundle this time seemed to really fill a few holes I had... so there goes most of my store credit!
I sent this via PM, but if anyone else is curious too, I think these are probably the elements from that outfit:
These are the cords: http://www.daz3d.com/decostrings-for-genesis-3-female-s
I think these are the earrings: http://www.daz3d.com/boho-life-jewelry
The top MIGHT be from this: http://www.daz3d.com/luscious-lingerie-for-genesis-3-female-s
The skirt looks like it's this (with the feathers made invisible): http://www.daz3d.com/war-bird-outfit-and-poses-for-genesis-3-female-s
The gloves look like they're from this: http://www.daz3d.com/amethyst-outfit-for-genesis-3-female-s
Really like the pro bundle. The moto outfit is amazing. Those boots and the jacket are really nice.
V4 Party Goer? Was that the Paris Hilton lookalike that seems to have disappeared? I have that if it is, LOL., and it looks totally different with Anagenesis! Creative combo! But personally I'm not into shaved heads (on women or men! I like lotsa hair!!!) But it comes with the bundle so I can practice my hairpainting on it... Nice render. That would have taken me like 10 hours on CPU. Grrrr...
Geneviève looks a bit like Leo's sister to me. Unfortunately I'm not too fond of Leo… She's so skinny, and the long eyes and the long nose are a bit exaggerated. But as far as I can see she's interesting and well done. Mixed with other characters (e.g. Olympia 7 or Girl 7) it looks as if she could be an excellent addition to the G3F gene pool. But I have far too many G3F characters and bought a lot of stuff during the latest Daz sales, so I need a little break. The Huntress and the Moto outfits are definitely very tempting, though… Hmmmm... - NO! ;-)
Good hunting, divamakeup.

Ok, NP. :) I posted a link there to the comment.
The gloves where giving me trouble, as I couldn't remember seeing them. But then I thought they looked kind of gothic, so put "gothic" in the seach and got lucky. lol
Someone who has Genevieve - the 'age' lines on her face in the main promo....are they the texture, normal maps or morphed into her face?
