I think Alan Ladd did it (well, insisted his co-stars did it), or maybe he stood on a box - searching is giving mixed results.
Why do people think Ron needs to try to look taller than he is? Did I miss something?
Ron, you are still taller than I am (by half and inch).
He was commenting that he had shrunk, rather than saying he was too short in general.
I'm feeling inferior because I shrunk down to 5 ft 8 1/2 inches.
But I'm still taller than Tom Holland who plays Spider-Man!
But he's rich, and has a hot wife!
Former French President and prison inmate Nicolas Sarkozy is around 1,65m tall (around 5 feet and 5 inches I think), his wife is 10 cm taller and you barely see it on photos.
There is also a photo of him taken with George Bush where Sarkozy is possibly standing on some sort of box:

Seeing Barbult's latest image reminded me of an occasion at home with our last but one cat 'Rooster', a ginger & white Maine Coon with one non-Maine Coon grandparent. Rooster was totally uninterested in most birds, but had a deep and abiding hatred of Magpies.
One summer afternoon he appeared to be asleep in our open conservatory doorway. There were Pigeons, Blue Tits, Blackbirds, Thrushes & Sparrows on the grass in front of him, all within 25ft, and he was lying there, eyes closed, front paws tucked under his chest, apparently asleep. A Magpie landed on the grass 45ft away, and Rooster exploded into motion. He went from 0 to flat out in an eyeblink. He raced through the flock near him, knocking a Ring Collar Dove off its feet as he raced towards the Magpie, The Magpie made a mad scramble to get back in the air and lost a single tail feather as Rooster launched himself into the air to get it.
Thoroughly annoyed and loudly muttering/grumbling to himself, Rooster plodded back to his sleeping spot through the charnage left of the bird feeding area. There were feathers everywhere and the flock of Sparrows and a Robin all shouted their disgust at him from the bushes next to the lawn. Once he settled back down to 'sleep', all the acceptable birds came back to feed.
Basically, cats are weird.

cats are also dumber than birds. The current one tried sneaking up on a crow that was strutting across the lawn. When she got a little too close the crow turned, looked at her until she sat up, and hopped off a few feet. The cat then started to try to sneak up on the crow again. This repeated three or four times.
The cat before the cat before this also tried sneaking up on a little bird foraging in the grass. When she got too close the bird took off, hovered briefly over her head, and then landed at an acceptable distance behind her. The cat turned round and resume sneaking. Again, this repeated seveal times before the bird flew off.
I'm pretty sure that in a mammal vs. dinosaur contest the dinosaurs would win.
some fancy pedigree cats are just clueless and wouldn't survive without humans
I seem to always get the basic moggie kind that find something to kill no matter how hard I try to prevent it
even my strictly indoor one managed to find, kill and bring me a mouse who dared to broach my house
when I had ones that went outdoors I was constantly finding half eaten kills under my bed of all varieties
avian, rodent, reptillian
usually feathers and feet, or headless if the latter
I've seen parakeets in a park in the London area some years ago. So far none nearer to me (South coast near Southampton) but maybe the seagulls keep them away

Cats. CATS!
I spent the weekend under the paw, and spent a bit more time than I wanted in a pose not too dis-similar to the one I modelled below:
OK, I'm not quite remotely as shapely as the model, but the cat.. I suspect the cat pose is correctly inferred from the pressure points and claw punctures on my back even though I couldn't see him. I did get head butted a number of times as fleabag moved around on my back. And he also trod on my skull. Didn't sit only on my head, but did drape up/down, down/up and across my back too. At one stage I had paws draped on either side of my neck and his chin on my neck & head.
It seems my tag line should be 'Seriously under the paw'.

barbult, I very much appreciate being included in your story.
However it is time for me to fade away, Perhaps you can find a spectacular way for me to perish. Or maybe you can have me fall in love and fade away.
I don't care, because I will be a carcass of sorts.
It has been evident in recent months that no one cares about My Artistic Misadventures.
At the same time I've shown my work to my friends, in printed form and they love it all.
If you know my history, I was popular for a year or two around 1999-2000. Then I blew it.
I was an outcast for around 20 years. Then the moderators gave me a break.
I appreciate that opportunity.
In the future I will only visit the forums if I need help understanding a product, etc.
Thanks again for including me in your excellent story.
You have miles to travel yet in my story. You shall not perish. Love? Perhaps that could happen. Who knows?
Your comments will be missed, but you must do what feels right for you. You are always welcome to drop in to my story comments from time to time, if you feel inspired to do so.
Ron I hope you're not going away so completely. You will be missed. If other people are like me, they often read threads but rarely reply or make comments. That doesn't mean we aren't watching or following along with your life. However, as Barbult said, you need to do what is best for you. Best wishes to you on your recovery.

At times I've talked about my experiences within your story. You asked me not to distract from your story. Fine.
I've tried expressing my creativity in my own threads, but felt unheard.
I am not starved for attention. But I have often felt lost on these forums.
I have shared my creative work with friends here. The experience has been very rewarding.
However that sharing must be in the form of the printed page.
For now, go ahead with your plans for your story.
In time I will appreciate quietly, occassionally, from a distance.
Please don't feel singled out, Ron, The story thread was getting way off track by everyone, including me. That's why we started this Discursion thread for general discussion. Richard did a great job of moving unrelated conversations over here. Drop by when you feel up to it. You are welcome here.
Hey you've got to stay in the current story, Ron - Jack would be so lonely with only Richard for company (knowing how often Richard goes off on his own).
I'm really enjoying the travels story barbult - can't wait to see the boys in Venice.
