Look, people, this is going off the mark. An update has gone awry. These things happen. I will apologise to Bluejaunte if they think that anything I wrote here is inadvertently offensive to them. I just hope that anybody who can help acts to find a quick solution so that everybody can go back to using this great plugin.
If anybody wants to discuss the philosophy of software distribution, they can start a new thread and invite me. This is not the place. Thank you; sorry; see you all around.
It seems to be a Daz fault, which we hope they will speedily fix. If you did have backups it would have let you recover from the effect of the error while waiting for an actual fix - but I certainly don't hae room to preach as I don't back up my multiple terrabytes of content installers..
Even though we know what the issue is, should all who were affected file a ticket? Would that raise the visibility of the issue and perhaps get a solution out faster? Or would that have no affect? (I'm assuming someone has already filed a ticket, of course.)
All good to be annoyed. Certainly no hard feelings from me :)
I'd hope it gets fixed Monday. If urgent hit me up with some kind of proof of ownership, screenshot or something, and I'll hook you up with the zips. Or subscribe to my Patreon (still free), get on the Discord and message me there.
No, the PA is aware and on the case and the update should be available to all users without needing any furthe action.
Slightly off topic, but @barbult , how do you get on with the Synology? I'm in the market for a NAS and I see mixed reviews on them.
Darn came here to solve this problem and saw the warning too late.
For those preaching backups, did you just reinstall the previous install package for shelf?
Or are you talking a full reinstall of a backup of Daz Studio?
I do backup all my stuff on Synology NAS, but I don't want to make things worse by installing the wrong thing.
I can wait if I need to and deal with the annoyance for a short time if it's required to do a full install.
Just extract the .dll file from the zip file and place it in DS4 plugins folder. If you are not backing up the DIM files but backing up your Daz Studio folder, extract restore that bjshelf DLL file only back to the Daz plugin folder.
I just got a notification that it went live in the store. Can you guys try again if that fixed anything?
@tugpsx, thank you, i'll give that a go.
Thank you very much. Copying it over worked and all my saved items in the shelf are there.
Keep in mind to get your shelf items into DS6 you can export shelf data in DS4 (right-click empty space in tab area) and then import them in DS6 (right-click same area).
Ok there's various miscommunications going on, I'm not sure how long this will take now so if you need DS4 version just message me.
Read this thread , thought it was safe to update now - lost BJShelf. :-(
DIM says the file date is July 10 for all four of your plugins that I own. Is that correct?
We did have a NAS a few years ago, but it relied on a connection to the maker and that became unreliable (this seemed to be a common issue with the model). Not that its maximum disc size would have been much help anyway. I do keep planning to replace it with a new one, but the connection issue has left me wary.
I have a pretty old Synology NAS at this point. Still works great. Recently they got pretty bad press though because they would only allow their own brand harddrives, which is unneccessary and pissed everyone off. I think there's probably better options now.
Ah ok yeah maybe that's over with.
