I did a simple test with it too (needed a thumbnail for the recent freebie by yomiuri on Renderosity) and like you, I ended with a sunset scene (I played a bit with various settings in Affinity):
Managed to get a bit closer to finishing my beach image.
Really pleased at the outcome. Thank you 'Those Things' for creating this for us to play with. The random bits in the sand with little water streaks from them along with the cross ripples are little things that add so much to the realism. Beautifully observed, giving a really great overall effect. Lovely.

Thank you so much, Richard! I'm loving all these images, too. I'd also like to add for everyone reading that if you look at Richard's lovely render here, you'll see that there is a very straight line in the reflection on the sand. This is because Iray has issues with rendering reflective layers across curving surfaces. If this ever happens to you when you're rendering this prop, you can fix it by subdividing the shore.
There was me thinking it was deliberate and was a realistic dividing line between the back wash from the previous wave coming up over the dryer backwash from the previous wave but one, and thought it was an effect from the water seeping down into the sand. Now that I know it's not deliberate, I'll follow the suggestion, will try it with a subdivided beach.

I tried raising the sub-d to 4, and adding a smoothing modifier, but as the shore model is distributed at base resolution, there's no curvature information to smooth out the surface as the sub-d increases, so it made almost no difference except to prolong the render time, as seen below.
I still reckon it's great. I'm sure it won't show up with a slightly different sun angle or the foam raised a bit - I had lowered it to make her legs a bit more visible.
Now, it's generally reckoned that blokes winge a lot more about cold water than women, so here's a fearsomely timid bloke dipping his toes in when he's being shown up. Despite being watched he can't stop a grimace and clenching his fingers in a very vincible way.
Same beach, same time of day, different view and a 35mm focal length, with rocks from Andre Pestryakov's Nature Ravine creating a low cliff on the landward side of the beach.

No, you had it right, those are the lines caused by the backwash, and they're supposed to be there. I'm talking about this one:
Just looking at this, all the props are freebies, from Censored, Wilmap (bag) and Llanarch for the towel. Unfortunately the latter two Wilmap is no longer seem to be offering their her freebies. (Corrected in light of Elor's comment below)

Thanks a lot for the comment, @FrankTheTank
I like both characters very much and they fit well to my many different scenes/projects.
It did, thank you very much

Finally got around to having a play with this environment. Just used a simple skydome for this one.
Managed to get a bit closer to finishing my beach image.

Wait...unless we're talking about the same line? I need more coffee!
I hesistate to add these very basic renders, but I finally got to try out Sandy Shore and must say I love it.
These just use simple sun-sky lighting and some LowPi figures (I was also testing out LowPi Formations acquired recently too)
I keep forgetting to post my National Bikini Day image that uses this shore asset.
I like those LowPis wading in the surf.
Thanks @barbult
Really like this. it's more common to have a crowd on a beach than a single person. Well, during warm weather, at least.

Richard.
Oh dear, oh dear...

Nice cozy beach scene
The towel is still available here:

You're right, thanks. I was convinced it was from Rendo.

Great scene!
Well, great environment making the basis for a nice scene.

Richard
I posted this in another forum thread, but I'll add it here, too.
