How do you make two cats of drastically different sizes hug each other? It's kind of hard.

I remember, when relatively young, picking up one of our cats and her hugging me, wrapping he foreleg around the back of my neck, so if a little fluffy cat can hug a human it sdhould be logistically possible.

Anyway, you made it work,  really sweet scene.

Thanks, cosmosm. I'm happy to hear my posing work paid off and the render pleased you.

Well, we are off in the weeds on numerous tangents again. Yes, as always I am part of the problem. blush I have asked Richard to trim the thread back to conversation more relevant to the thread title topic, the renders, and the stories. When people see that there is a new post in the thread, I want them to come and see renders and comments about stories, not unrelated chit chat - even my own.

I don't want anyone to feel unwelcome here. I treasure the story-related comments. Let's keep it story-related and family friendly, please. The leopard spelling error was divine! I can hardly wait for December to see those police Christmas cards! And thank goodness nobody was a snack - this time anyway. We'll have to leave all possibilities open.wink

    Jack's on the Phone

Lola: Richard, hop up here. Jack's on the phone. He wants to talk to you.
    Richard: Hello, Jack?
Jack: Yes. I spotted a cute new cafe downtown. Let's have our tea there this week. Heidi would just as soon get me out of the house while her book club meets.
Richard: Good idea. Lola is kind of miffed at me, for charging $30,000 on her credit card and shipping a leopard to our our house. She still loves me, of course, but a couple hours out of the house would probably be good for our relationship.
    Jack: WHAT?! $30,000! A leopard!!
Richard: I'd rather not talk about that right now... I can tell you about it at the cafe.

She definitely does look miffed, which is not surprising really cause that's a lot of cash!
That said, she still looks beautiful even when miffed!

PS:  Just a technical observation that her eyes look almost completely black in that one, as if the whites of her eyes have been accidentally dialled down to zero or something.

That does look strange. Mostly we see her eyelashes there, but I don't see whites of eyes either.

Could be render settings I suppose.  Perhaps you need an extra reflection bounce or two for that scene.

She's very trusting letting me on her bare legs, claws sometimes have a will of their own.

I should have retracted them. I always forget about that claw control. You are a polite cat. You would not want those unruly claws to do harm to Lola. She obviously trusts you. I think the credit card is off limits now, though.

    Philip Harmonica Calling...

Lola: Richard, come back. You've got another call.
    Richard: Hello?
Phil: Hello, am I speaking to Richard Haseltine?
    Richard: Yes.
Phil: I'm Phil Harmonica, president of the Catalympics Committee. One of our benefactors, King Charles of the United Kingdom, has suggested that you would be a good addition to the committee. We've recently been in touch with Cat Supply Company, and they told us quite a colorful story about you. We think that you would be excellent at scouting locations for Catalympics competitions. It would involve world-wide travel and exciting opportunities. What do you think? Can we count on you?
Richard: Wow, I am honored to be asked! King Charles and I struck up a friendship when he invited me for tea, to learn about forum posting, when I became famous for 100,000 posts. I am unable to travel on my own, though. Lola won't let me drive the car anymore, and she won't let me use her credit card anymore. Airlines won't let me fly alone. Last time I had to pretend to be my friend Jack's emotional support animal.
Phil: Oh, don't worry. The King was quite generous with his donation. We can afford to send you and an entourage of 3 to help with location evaluation. Do you think you can convince your friend Jack to go along again?
Richard: I'll be seeing Jack this week for tea. We'll discuss it then. I'm sure I can find a couple other friends to go along, too.
Phil: I encourage you to select male friends for this trip. Some destinations may be a little dicey.
Richard: Understood. I have lots of male friends.
Phil: OK, we'll talk again next week. Ta ta for now.
    Richard: Bye!
Lola: Did I overhear that  right? Is the Catalympics a real thing?
Richard: Did you think I was delusional? I am not AI. I don't hallucinate, you know. (I guess it IS real!) Wow!

    Tea at the Cafe

Richard: Jack, this is a great cafe! They have catnip tea and cat bowls. They even have a cat statue by the entrance.
Jack: I thought you would be pleased. Now tell me about this $30,000 and the leopard!
Richard: Oh, that's old news. I have new exciting news, and it involves you, I hope. I have been invited to join the Catalympics Committee and travel world-wide with an entourage to scout for competition locations. You know I can't fly alone. Can you be part of my entourage and let me pass as your emotional support animal again? It would be even more fabulous than our last road trip.
Jack: Our last road trip! Ouch, you mean when we got arrested and thrown into jail and had to break out and sneak home.
Richard: Yes, that is where Lola and I met. It was a great adventure!
Jack: I thought you made up that whole Catalympics thing. Are you sure this is real?
Richard: Why does everyone think I'm delusional? When have I ever been delusional?
Jack: Well, there was the time...
Richard (cutting Jack off): Look! There's Other-Richard! Other-Richard, over here, over here! Come join us. I have big news!

    Never Heard Of It

Richard: Other-Richard, I have big news! I'm joining the Catalympics Committee to scout competition locations with my entourage. We'll travel all around. Do you want to come along? This will be a boys trip of a lifetime. I think I've convinced Jack to come. Are you in?
Other-Richard: Catalympics?? I've never heard of it. Is it like the Olympics for humans? My human, Tracy, watches that on TV. She likes the gymnastics.
Richard: Yes, I guess so. I haven't received any official documentation yet. I have a stock of leotards ready to go, but they are too small for you. And way too small for Jack.
Jack: Hey! No way am I going to wear a stupid leotard!
Other-Richard: Sure, I'm always up for adventure. Sign me up, as long as I don't have to wear leotards. I don't wear clothes - ever.
Richard: We'll have to fill out the entourage with another human man, so he can get you onboard aircraft. I bet I can convince my friend, Ron, to come. He said his own cat is away for the summer visiting family in Dodge City. This will be a great entourage.
Other-Richard to Jack: Is this for real? Or is Richard delu...
Richard (cutting off Other-Richard): I am not delusional!

I'm not sure yet where this is going - or not going. I wonder how long Richard would have to be treated for delusion, if in fact that turns out to be the case. However, maybe we need to have more faith in Richard. There are too many skeptics in the world some times.

This all looks very promising. I'm not sure what it is promising, though. (Also too hot here.)

I'm guessing that the whole thing is a scam and Richard will get messages to send a hefty contribution towards the trip to the scammer.

[We just had our hottest ever June day today (36.1°C quite near where I live - that's almost 97° F - the normal June average is about 21°C  or 70°F) and expecting even higher tomorrow, so my brain is fried and I may just be hallucinating! ]

Whatever direction your story takes though I will be watching with bated breath!

I doubt if Richard has money to contribute, now that he has been cut off from Lola's credit card (for good reason). I've never seen him carry a wallet. wink Only time will tell whether it is a scam or or not. We'll see which way the wind blows. I suppose it could take some time to really find out the truth.

I guess promises can go both ways. This is a mystery still.

Edit: I censored myself and moved my off topic weather comments to the discursion thread.

I love the scattered leaves in these two renders, also the careful attention to selecting props (ex. tea bags, cat food bowls).

Saw some flags hanging over my window..... Hmm.

Thanks for your attention to my attention to detail. smiley I can't take credit for the scattered leaves. They are part of Stonemason's Le Cafe, which I used (only slightly modified) for the environment. One of the cat bowls is a freebie created by richardandtracy (Other-Richard in my story). The tea bags are from esha's Take a Break Props Set in the Daz Store.

I told you that you might be back! We have a new thread for off topic discussion now, in case you want to discuss your building remodel in more detail, or something else unrelated to the story or renders. You can find the "discursion" thread here
