I see a trend developing: the early morning (eastern anyway) code is for an easter themed release.

Yep; so far it seems to be the same formulas as  yesterday but with different items and codes.

Except for (mostly) having Bunny in the name, there wasn't much Easter themed in this morning's early selection. But I got several outfits & a hair. And all the outfits had nice not-too-high heels. Extra cool for me - the https://www.daz3d.com/casual-kitty-set-for-genesis-8-females has a Cheshire cat cami & Cheshire is my maiden name. :D

What I meant was the first 6 hours were a free set from a limited a small set of items (or 50% off 1 wish list item plus a of items in the set free with a new release) and the second 6 ours were a free DO character. This is the same formulas as yesterday.

There's a fresh round up for Saturday morning, code name: BUNNIES

What's with all the carrots, what do they need such good eyesight for anyway?

Bunnies, bunnies it must be bunnies!

Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes.

They've got them hoppy legs and twitchy little noses....

I am perfectly happy with snagging a free Quick Grab/Outlet Store item every six or so hours.

  • New round is up! The secret word is FLOWERS.

Only nine items to choose from this early morning, but some interesting ones. Right now the code doesn't seem to be working.

Code worked for me. Note there are other items besides just plants. Interior & exterior sets, some very nice.

" A reminder that this thread was setup so that people could subscribe to email notifications for it without getting emails for non-announcements.

Every time a reply is made here, all the folks who signed up for emails get an email. Please be considerate of everyone’s time and resources.

If you want to reply-to, or comment on, the Limited Time Freebies announced here, please use the discussion thread."

Hopefully if there is a freebie link that isn't actually working, and someone has a solution, people will think to look here, rather than people commenting on it in the original thread! Apparently it's better for some people to miss out on limited time freebies than for others to get a notification that they don't want!

@Stargazey I personally don't like email notices from forums, so I don't sign up for them. I understand the desire to keep that other thread clean and I do check it to make sure I haven't missed anything; but the overall attitude there is way too stuffy for my taste. Sometimes it does take a little bit of correction to make sure no one misses anything, and sometimes people do respond. In the end, it's still a forum thread! And no, I don't think everyone will check here. Most of the conversation here is about biweekly freebies. The variety of discussions here the last couple days have been a change of pace.

Re: the other thread... I'd cast my vote in favor of necessary administrative stuff being allowed (like what was needed this morning to compensate for the FLOWERS issues).

I feel like there's an obvious difference between getting an email notification for that (useful) and getting email notifications for things like folk expressing their thanks or dissatisfaction over the selection (possibly interesting, not useful per se).

I apologize for coming on too strongly in the announcements thread. I let myself get too anal about “everything in its right place”.

As to addressing the less than optimal forum setup:

I realize it’s almost certainly not going to happen (given that the forum software feels decades old at this point), but I think if Daz updated the forum software functionality here it could help. Prime example: The lack of basic “reactions” on posts means that people resort to replying when they just want to express appreciation, rather than something like the “thumbs up” or “heart” reactions available on most other forum platforms.

I don’t know why the “Limited Time Freebies” announcements and discussion threads are in different forum channels. Maybe there was a reason for that? But it seems like it adds to the potential confusion.

Is anyone else having a problem with the current code being invalid?
A friend of mine got it to work, but for some reason, I can't.

Folks have sometimes run into problems with accidentally grabbing a space character when copying the EASTER-DAY code.

Also, the item can only be from the Daz Originals Quick Grab list:
    https://www.daz3d.com/quick-grab#&filter_vendor=Daz%20Originals&filtered=1

Yeah, that's the category I'm using (I'm trying to grab HS Fade with Spike Hair) and I've been very careful each time I try to copy the code... but I still get Coupon code is not valid when I try...
I might just have to miss this one sadly... I've even tried different browsers in case it was Chrome.
Heck I even just tried on my phone.

Sorry for the late reply. No worries! I believe we're lucky to have a fully fiunctional and active forum here! Not perfect, but what is? Changing it might mean introducing the sort of chaos that happens when the store gets redone, and no thank you! As for why the discussion thread is here and not in freebies, I can only speculate. It may be confusing, though I think it gets good visibility here.

I dunno, I would welcome being able to post a comment on mobile that is formatted properly, without having to force desktop mode. But yes, being thankful for what we do have that works is definitely good. :)

@FJM1977 Some people who have been active in the forum a lot longer than I have can tell you about the time the entire contents of the forum was deleted as part of an upgrade. I don't know how that happened the first time, and I would not like to see it happen again. And when the store has been redone, it has happened during major holiday sales and wreaked havoc on store operations. Being here is exciting! Truly, it's an adventure in itself!

My recollectiion is that the original forum, using phpbb, was retained in read-only form for some time but eventually went away. The switch from the system that followed to this preserved content, more-or-less..

As a random aside: I once read a book where someone was described as having 'A bad memory masquerading as a clear conscience'.  'A bad memory masquerading as...' is the sort of term that could be applicable in many fields.

I must admit I do appreciate the resource the forum provides. I'd prefer it was less necessary (better manual), but got to work with what we have. And the ability to let others know about freebies is so useful and appreciated that it's hard not to respond appreciatively in the thread where the heads-up is given.

    Regards,

    Richard

I love this turn of phrase. Thank you for sharing it.

Blacksmith3D PRO Version 8 is currently under 'no license check' for a limited time and is free to download. Texture Transformer is functional, but it only includes the V4 to Dawn conversion. A simple search will be enough to find it.

That is a good find and I've known about it for a while - Downloaded it already. I will also say, there is a less-known thread about free software that makes life easier. You may find it useful and interesting.  https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/6274/free-software-that-makes-life-easier

Thanks Elor for the update. This time, a rich and varied assortment, with many relatively recent items, mostly for G3 and some for G2, and only one texture. Thanks DAZ.:)

Does anyone even still use G2 and G3? Seems like they're trying to offload old junk.

I use G8. However, G3 assets are easily used on G8, and G3 characters convert to G8 well, G3 is effectively a G8 MK1 and interchangeable for use with G8. I also use G2 ( G2 Appreciation Thread), but quite a bit less often, and about as often as I use Victoria 3. I don't use G1, V1/2 or V4. Regards, Richard.

The clothing auto fits easily to most later generations. Hairs also work well, but it's best not to autofit those. Instead, manually position and then Parent in Place.
