This song and video were a quick week-end project for a music challenge. After a few months of not rendering much, it was nice to throw a few more recent buys together for some simple scenes (just 6 renders for this project). I was going for a soft introspective feel to add to the mood of the song. Fabiana's Umbrelli Girls poses and prop set doing some of that work as well.
New Buys:
Luanne - She's very lovely. The promos are missing a no-makeup render, which really would help showcase characters like her better.
Ophelia Outfit - Great outfit. It's so soft and dreamy, and easy to use with dForce.
(Or the corresponding "name_aliases" line in the male or G8.1 files with an appropriately edited list of aliases).
This will tell DS that the G8F base is able to accept Hierarchical Materials and Pose presets from G8.1, G9 and G3M (it normally only accepts G8M and G3F), and therefore will negate the error. Although how well the presets actually work if you force them to load can be another matter. (G9 poses mostly won't work, G3 poses will need the arms and legs adjusted, and textures for the figure itself will rely on having a valid UV).
The one thing to be careful about though is that this only fixes the problem on your install, so people who do content creation should be aware that other users probably have not used this trick and will need to be careful that their H.Mats are saved in a way that works correctly for others.

I mentioned Tiana in the new releases appreciation thread as she caught my eye, but I also mused at the slightly mismatched description of the character that suggested "youthful" and "playful" while those sunken eyes made her anything but. I got her anyway, and I joyfully made her into an old lady: all it took was Minerva's skin, a bit of a nudge of an aging morph for the face, and a little bit more to adjust the body to be elderly as well.
She's perfect and expressions seem to work quite well on her too. And since I was playing around already, I made a quick render. The other not-exactly-new-anymore item (bought later November last year) is the Southern Gothic Dress which simulated nicely, but got some weird triangles in front. Not sure if it's from the simulation or lighting, and since it was a quickie, I didn't investigate.
Just a question, do women working for the government have to wear tie? (only example I have in mind are from TV shows, so, hu, not exactly the best source).
And if I may, I think I would go for a bit more contrast between the tie and the shirt (maybe a darker hue of blue like the one from her suit. A worse, I'm sure they are websites explaning what colors are best for a tie on top of a pale blue shirt) because it feel a bit too close.

Your render is great and I especially like the way the mist / smoke seems to be obeying Tiana's hands.
Regarding the problem you're speaking about: are you speaking about the triangle shape slightly visible in front of the pelvis area? It's likely a result of auto-follow and it's sadly a pretty common result with dress or skirt. An example with the dress used on MSO Lacey in my last render (I fixed the problem before doing the simulation, using Blender):
They are a couple of possible solutions to fix it:
A Daz-only solution is to use a 45 frames simulation because AFAIK, auto-follow is not activated during a simulation:
frame 0: Genesis 9 in the base pose and base shape.
frame 15: Genesis 9 in base pose and with Tiana's head and body dialed at 100%.
frame 30: Genesis 9 in the final pose and with Tiana's head and body dialed at 100%.
The last 15 frames are to let the simulation stabilize (the same principle can be applied to use a dForce piece of clothing on a figure for which it was not made for, the setting is a just more complex). If there is a big difference in size between Genesis 9 Base and Tiana, you could maybe play with the scale at frame 0 to make Genesis 9 starts with a size closer to Tiana's size (don't forget to remove the scaling at frame 15 though), otherwise, the dress will be either a shorter or longer, which may or may not be a problem.
Otherwise, Sickleyield has a product to help solving the problem (I don't have it), maybe Fit Control has something too but I never checked.
Another solution is to create a CBS with an external modeler like Hexagon, Blender, Zbrush, etc, and fixing the problem among other while creating that CBS. A CBS can be created either on top of what auto-follow did where you're fixing the worse problems and accept the least perceptible ones. Or you can start from the base shape or from an officially supported shape close enough of your character shape: it'll provide better results but its harder and longer because you're have to adjust the piece of clothing everywhere and not just fix the shortcomings of auto-follow.
Matt_Castle spoke about creating templates in an exchange with Newguy while they were speaking about how long creating CBS could take but I have no idea how to create such template (I'm currently able to create CBS from the base shape of the piece of clothing with some clothes).
To get back to the dress on Lacey, here the result of creating the CBS from the base shape of the dress (dresses are usually something within the reach of my current Blender skill level ). With a dress, solving the triangle's shape is very easy when starting from the base shape: it's fixing everything else from the base shape that'll take a lot of time (I think I spent something like half an hour using the proportional editing tool in Blender to get everything close enough of Lacey's shape but the result was worth the hassle, at least after I switch auto-follow to off for all the morphs from the Natural Bend product that were messing with the dress ).
@elor I actually don't know lol, I just wanted to make a secret agent character that wasn't dressed like she's at a nightclub lol
The look is actually based off of the one in this music video at 2:28-2:48:
Regarding Federal Government Clothing Standards it used to be pretty conservative when I was a high school student and worked half days for the Air Force, so I did a quick search and here is an AI summation.
Federal government dress codes are not centrally mandated, but vary by agency, location, and position, generally requiring business casual to formal attire. "Dress for your day" policies are common, where staff wear suits for official meetings and business casual for office work. Professionalism is required, while partisan political clothing is prohibited.
OPM.gov +4
Key Aspects of Federal Attire:
"Dress for Your Day": A popular policy allowing employees to choose attire based on their schedule.
Prohibited Items: Generally banned items include shorts, ripped jeans, flip-flops, workout clothes, and clothing with offensive or, due to the Hatch Act, political messaging.
Uniforms: Specific agencies, such as the U.S. Marshals or those working in the field, have strict uniform or safety-related appearance guidelines.
OPM.gov +6
Agency Variability: Guidelines differ significantly between agencies (e.g., Department of Justice vs. a research lab).
Business Casual vs. Formal: Many offices are business casual (slacks, collared shirts, blouses). High-profile, client-facing, or official meetings usually require formal suits
.
Guidelines for New Employees:
If you are starting a new position, it is best to check with your supervisor or HR department to confirm the specific dress code for your team.

[So this seems to be pretty much what is expected in the international business I worked in after my retirement from military service. As management I had to deal with complaints on this issue when it was violated.]

Thank you! I was looking for VDBs that would convey exactly that effect.

It's likely a result of auto-follow and it's sadly a pretty common result with dress or skirt. An example with the dress used on MSO Lacey in my last render (I fixed the problem before doing the simulation, using Blender):
I know of the pelvis area issue and I do have Sickleyield's Detriangulator (though I appreciate other solutions and will save them for the future, though I'm not versed enough in Blender to use it that way), but in this case, it actually looked natural because of her belly being round and sticking out, so I wasn't bothered with it. What I was pointing out is the three tiny black triangle shapes to the right (looking at the picture, to the left anatomically) of where her navel would be. If you're viewing it on a phone, it might not be visible, but on a PC monitor, they're quite clear and standing out, and they look like texture/lighting issue.

I used that outfit when I was on a Wicked kick and decided ro dress one of my chracters up as Elphaba... I remember having to do a couple careful camera angles to hide some weirdness after simulation that I didn't want to take a lot of time to figure out/fix. So I would be inclined to suggest that the issues are with the dress itself.
I already have a Jeep in my collection, but AcharyaPolina's AP Archaeologist 'Truck' is pretty neat, and a nice value at the moment.
Very nice render! I was tempted to get it but I've stopped buying LHD vehicles, they languish in my library while all the RHDs roar around my NZ roads.

Sorry, I watched the picture on my computer but didn't open in a new window and I didn't see the triangles you were speaking about
Looking at the shadows around Tiana's left breast, they are a bit blocky: maybe raising the SubD render level on the dress could make the triangle shadows a bit less sharp too? At least if the dress responds well to SubD (I don't have it). An example:
While they were walking back to their home after a nice dinner out, once they stepped on the bridge, Olympia thought absently that the buildings on the opposite riverbank would likely provide a nice bokeh.
And she was certain that tonight, as always, wherever they went, a camera went along.
She didn’t say anything but could hear the wheels spinning in the mind of her SO and after a minute or so, she heard, in a whisper, ‘The bokeh will be fabulous.’
‘Yep,’ she thought before saying innocently, ‘We do have some time, but don’t forget we hired a babysitter.’
That render was sitting on my computer for a couple of months but when I saw the recent Artissane set by fabiana, it felt like the missing piece, especially because it has bracelets.
One great thing about the various jewelry products she released is that pendants are easy to use with necklaces from other sets as long as they have a pendant connector. In this render, I simply removed the pendant I used, keeping the necklace already simulated around Olympia's neck, before loading the pendant and seeing it appear exactly where it should (note that Artissane doesn't have any necklace included but everything else is usuable without it).
I forget to mention it on the gallery, but I think I tried to add a bit of noise with Affinity. I'll have to check later because the effect is minor and I'll try to add the raw render later if I did shared the postworked version.
And while I was playing with the Artissane set, I found a couple of minor problems with the Genesis 8 version, so why not make a render with them, worn by a Genesis 8 character to see if there was another problem (I think the answer is no and the two problems is really minor), in this case, Clara 8.1. No story because I simply repurposed a scene I created to have a nice icon for a persona preset loading Clara 8.1 wearing the dress and the shoes shown on the render, which I suppose will be upgraded by a version with the scarf and the jewelry
A couple of products I like a lot that I had for a longer time in my library:
The bridge is not very visible on Olympia's render, but still more than on my render with MSO Lacey and Victoria 8.1 last month: https://www.daz3d.com/fn-bridge
Everyone should have the Secret Garden Shaded Haven used on Clara 8.1 render, and while it's not new, I think the automatted iray converted worked nicely on this one. I thought about changing the floor textures, but it would likely require more work that I was willing to do to create a texture keeping the two tones used here.
It's a nice selections of white or white adjacent colours. Almost the opposite of my render with Clara 8.1, almost because I added a bit of colours with the scarf after trying to use a black and gray motif.
I wanted to see the main street usa product so I did some just load it and render renders (though I tweaked DOF on a few of them). There are 23 cameras in the set so there's a lot of overlap I didn't bother to render. Oh, and I added clouds to the sky.
I wanted to see how Finger focus looked (I included a second render in the gallery, which is the same render except Finger focus is not enabled) and I also wanted to test the expressions. On top of that, I'm hitting a wall trying to do a render with Hanako 9 wearing the same clothes (only 18k iterations for the other render… and I want to try to see if they are ways to reduce that number, instead of brute forcing with a full night render) so it was easy to load that personna and apply the pose
About Finger Focus, I may remember wrongly, but I think @Silvergirl was not sure about it: if you have yet to buy it, once the dial is activated (I set it at 100%), everything is automatically done. A nice idea is having a script to open the Parameters tab where it needed to have a easy access to the dial in question.
It's available cheap, and like all of Merlin Studio's work, really well-made!
Speed vs reach, a classic. The shield may tilt the chances in favor of your next creature though or maybe I'm biased as a fan of shield bearer fighter (there is something very satisfying about crushing an opponend face with a shield bash , in a video game at least).
The product by Merlin looks nice, and the way you framed the render, give a 'Fight happening in the Colosseum' vibe.
@jmucchiello > It looks nice, as expected from a Stonemason's product. Did you check the VRAM consumption? Usually Stonemason's products are great on that front.
@nemesis10 > When he was released, I was tempted to see how he looked, because the description showed his creation took a lot of care and work, and I'm intrigged by Omniskin. Did you use it on this render?

Thank you :)
You're both welcome
It's a great product and your video showcases it wonderfully.
There is another easier and more permanent trick.
Replace line 33309 in -\data\DAZ 3D\Genesis 8\Female\Genesis8Female.dsf with:
"name_aliases" : [ "Genesis8Male", "Genesis3Female", "Genesis8_1Female", "Genesis8_1Male", "Genesis3Male", "Genesis9" ]
Thank you and many blessings on your house and all the houses of your friends and relations :)
Thanks Elor!
Oh that's fantastic! Thanks for sharing Matt!
What a fabulous thank you. Put a smile on my face reading it.
A bunch of well stacked discounts today for the March sales, I did very well.
Here is a try of Olivia (those arms are goals for me!)
The Hair, wing and poses are from the Tara HD add on bundle. Cute sunset dress (pants I borrowed from another outfit) and Deco environment.
The makeup script stuffed up as it always does for those products, but I kinda liked the effect.
sid great render and product presentation!

It's a beautiful render :)
And another one, with https://www.daz3d.com/medieval-fortifications-2
It's available cheap, and like all of Merlin Studio's work, really well-made!
I finally picked up SE Car Fantom after having it on my wishlist for ages. Also picked up Z Smoke Break from Zeddicus recently.
I wanted to see the main street usa product so I did some just load it and render renders (though I tweaked DOF on a few of them). There are 23 cameras in the set so there's a lot of overlap I didn't bother to render. Oh, and I added clouds to the sky.
Since no one has included Holden:
A portrait of 'Hanako 9' (yup, it's the most creative title ever
):
New products used, all bought at the end of last month:
Speed vs reach, a classic. The shield may tilt the chances in favor of your next creature though or maybe I'm biased as a fan of shield bearer fighter (there is something very satisfying about crushing an opponend face with a shield bash
, in a video game at least).
