Just in time for the Mercosur agreement (but not because of it), my vote and my money yesterday went to Argentina: Fabiana's new work of art, “FK Sibilant Grace Jewellery Volume 1”, is simply the most seductive snake jewellery I have ever seen. I am already waiting for Volume 2...
Since I can't afford both Fabiana's jewellery and Stonemason's magnificent “Lakehaven” (my poor husband partially wrecked the car in the snow on Tuesday...), I'll fall back on Enterables' very nice 'Medieval Millhouses 1' for now. And hope that there will be a good wishlist promotion for the March Madness sale.
Thanks for mentioning those. Totally missed them!
+1 Me too, but in the last days there were several great new products imo, unfortunately I have to put them on my wishlist as I am broke atm
Thank you so much, for all the mentions! My pleasure to know you like the set!
a Temu seller might see the pics like they do
If I am brutally honest, it was a big mistake on Daz's part to have the difference between Strand Based Hair and "dForce Hair" be more anything more than that it added simulation.
As is, a lot of vendors end up using "dForce Hair" for its other features (dForce hair can be configured with more surface/generation options, and can be made by importing curves from other applications, etc), even though the PA absolutely does not want the hair to simulate and has set it not to. And that now means that, despite "dForce" being established as Daz's physics engine, products are being sold with the dForce name which have no simulation, diluting the meaning of "dForce".
Daz should have had Strand Based Hair as the base, and dHair as their PA version, and then could have had "dForce dHair" for the ones that actually simulated.
I didn't realize that 'dForce' didn't mean 'dForce'. I thought it was hard enough to be sure I'm not looking at strand-based, which I have no use for. when the description frequently doesn't clearly state it.
That's it. I will not purchase any more hair from Daz, unless it's obviously antique.
It's worthless if I can't have any idea in advance what it is.
That last paragraph is bit extreme - dForce hair has dForce in its name, older sets listed dForce Hair in Compatible Software while the newer has strand-based in the title. Many PAs do give an idea of just how simulatable the hair is.
I have a hair for G9 called dynamic, that isn't, in my library
its just a cutout opacity mapped geometry strip hair with morphs
I do use it a lot though
because it is
https://www.daz3d.com/fe-cute-dynamic-short-hair-for-genesis-9
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-nirv-ghost-dress-set-for-genesis-9 - it seems not even in death are women now allowed clothes in which they can actually walk. This poor ghostie can't even pick up anything to rattle it. But all's good as long as it has a plunging back line I guess ... People do seem to have weird shrouds in some places (like their heads ;-)).
Maybe I am totally mistaken, but if I remember correctly, 'dForce' for clothing and hair came out before 'strand' hair, like a few years before and was for clothing, transmapped and cloth hair.
When strand hair was introduced it was a new style of 'hair' from transmapped or cloth based hair. The Omni shaders were developed for strand hair. Strand hair can be used for a hair that is intended to NOT be simulated as it an updo that would be essentially damaged by the process, and still would give the appearance of real hair. It also can be simulated.
I am no wizard of dForce and some of my attempts have been crazy explosions, but the ones I have done successfully for clothing and hair have brought me pleasure in my efforts. I buy hair of all types still today, I never know what I may need for what purpose. And I reinstall hair from Generation 4, G1, G2, G3, G8, even if I am mostly using G9 now.
I'm pretty sure this is some kind of internet meme, popular among illustrators and cosplayers in China, Japan, and other Asian countries.
Might explain the restless spirit thing, though. I know if anyone buried me in that, I'd be haunting their backside for all eternity.
Put me to rest in comfy pajamas with a good coffee mug at my side, or face consequences, I'm just sayin'.
Your loved ones can buy that out fit on Temu or Amazon. Seriously.... Well, not so much Amazon because it is unavailable but Temu...it is yours for$23.30 USD suggested retail price 119.33. Oh, wait only 5 left and they've marked it down to a little under $6. So, sadly or luckily you can purchase this for less than it would cost to outfit your 3d genesis 9 characters. Oh, snap! You can dress just like your 3d character...you know work those poses out. LOL
Edit: The PA might have changed to bottom a little...the 3D outfit maybe a little more of a mermaid tail at bottom and lowered the material at lower back. Still, yeah....very recognizable
Seriously, this outfit is on Temu. I know you think I am joking...but I am not.
A lot of TikTok videos out there of women wearing it too. LOL
I always thought the real restless spirits died naked and are restless hiding from spotters or because they cannot find their clothes. At least that is what I wrote about in Afterlife Matric (formerly known as I'm Not Dead . . . Crashing Life).
Speaking of the clothes hangers, how do I make sense of what it shows me in the content browser? Why are there 4 duplicates of each step? I suspect sub-folders but those do not show in Smart Content nor in the Content Browser. So I can't see what the differences are
According to the readme there should indeed be sub-categories:

You guys, I had NO idea! This is hilarious. Well, terrible, but also hilarious. People are such nut jobs today.
Even sadder is that this is not the only case where 3D clothing is more than the real life equivalent... In fact, I have several upcoming projects where I've run the numbers and it's cheaper to stage the thing against a greenscreen with live models than it is to use DAZ/Rendo equivalents, and that's including studio rental and a makeup artist. And seriously, what is going on with DAZ "regular " pricing? The' new outfit from Ignis Serpent today has a "regular" price of 95.99 while both versions of the "Military Dress Uniform" from MalImagery are 39.99 and don't even include a jacket. Granted, they both currently have a 30% discount and in three months we'll likelybe able to get either for at least 80% off, but I have to wonder how many people are actually buying new items these days given the rapid inflation and accelerated discounting structure.
Sometimes digital is more expensive than physical, so some movies choose to use props instead of computer animation. For example, the Ghost Dress was simply made by cutting two holes in a bed sheet, which is obviously much simpler than creating it using 3D modeling. As for the price, I think every artist has different ideas. Perhaps some people will raise prices because of the platform's high commission, but in my personal shopping experience, the original price of the same product is the same on DAZ and another store, but the discount on the other store will never be as low as the price on DAZ. Of course, I haven't bought from that other store in a long time, but Ignisserpentus has indeed increased in price by almost 100%. In any case, when I shop, I don't just look at the discount, but whether the product is worth it. For example, expensive G1 era items.
I'm going to be brutally frank and say that https://www.daz3d.com/vasquez-rocks-for-daz-studio honestly looks like it's graphics from an early 00s game console.
I have a few of VanishingPoint's other products which I'm happy enough with, but I think that accepting and putting out this latest set as a product in 2026 reflects extremely poorly on Daz.
I agree, Vanishing Point usually does good work, but I'm shocked at how bad this product is.
A clarification: dForce is one thing, dForce Hair is another. dForce Hair technology includes, apart from the possibility of being simulated, the possibility of generating more hair strands inside DS for vastly superior performance that we would not have if we imported all that amount of hair from our 3d modeling software of choice.
Because of that, some vendors (including me) use dForce Hair tech even when we don't mean to have the hair simulate. Some hairstyles need to not react to simulations to keep their shape. This is much more true to tight curls, textured hair and braids - hair features that require a lot of mesh density and detail that would be very heavy on computer resources without the generated hair, but often don't react much or at all to gravity.
While that is true, vendors doing that should ALWAYS state in the product description that the hair uses dForce technology but doesn't simulate. That way, customers can make educated purchase decisions :) check those descriptions, folks!
I would say that most of their stuff feels like old Poser stuff... and as with old Poser stuff, some of it can actually hold up reasonably well (or polish up with a bit of effort)*, other stuff I just look at and know it would be more work to get to a standard I would want to use than it would be worth.
*Indeed, a number of my relatively recent renders have used older Poser assets, and I don't think it's necessarily obvious where I have.
But this? If I'd been shown this out of context and been told it was a screenshot from some obscure PlayStation 2 game, I would have believed that.
*sigh*
if only the new Jepe hunk were also available for G8...
I have to agree with Matt Castle. Some of VP's products are staggering in their detail & quality. I think the Fortified Manor House in the attached image was a Poser item converted to DS (but I'm often wrong..) I grinned from ear to ear when I saw the render, it exceeded expectations by miles.
When I first saw the Vasques Rocks I thought for a moment or two that someone had revived a VERY old thread talking about old poser items. Then I realised it was a sale item that can't be revived by a comment.. Oh dear.

Richard
'Business Attire': https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-eg-ehjb-business-attire-for-genesis-9
And what business might this be, pray ...
Seriously, I can't figure out what's going on with outfits like this here (and elsewhere) being sold as 'business', 'casual', 'home office' and such. It just doesn't seem possible to me that the PAs really think that this is what women wear in offices. So is AI already creating all the descriptions and titles, and it just goes by what it sees online? Would make sense, but I can't quite believe that either. Only other possibility I can come up with is, they know people will mostly use this for sexy times renders, and so they name stuff in accordance with the standards for this kind of thing.
But even then, this outfit - not just inappropriately sexy but also kinda futuristic AND ruffled as if one's slept in it twice ... Like, again, WHAT BUSINESS might this actually be ...???
I too own a lot of VP, some from Content Paradise, Poser Direct etc, as well as DAZ
it does vary a lot in quality but mostly pretty good
that one doesn't look tempting at all
