Do you think anyone from DAZ actually reads this? I feel like in spite of this thread everything on fast grab is female now and all new releases are female. I agree with RAMwolff...why didnt they just increase the lifespan of genesis 2? I feel like we had only just recieved it! I mean Scott just came out for gen 2. I was hesitant to pick it up because there wasnt much male content but then after a few months i bought it because of the amount of clothing and morphs that were created.
Also is there any chance the next gen 3 men (when its released) could come with the face and body morphs in it? I feel like it is so cheap to expect us to pay more money for what should already be part of it.
1. It's been two years since Genesis 2 came out...and we were promissed, with the release of Genesis that the dev cycle would be about that (it was about 2 yrs between Genesis and Genesis 2, too.). So far, they seem to be holding to the quicker release cycle.
2. It has always been that the majority of the morphs were paid add-ons.
has it really been 2 years! wow. time goes crazy quick then lol
As for showing off renders of male specific items in the Galleries by more male oriented artists, I would love to see that. I get tired of visiting the Gallery and seeing all of the morphed boobs and barely clad females. I would love to visit and see a nice buff chest with just a smattering of hair who is looking at me with dreamy eyes and a come hither stare.....( I have a few of those I'm working on myself.) Unfortunately, I think some of the commenters are correct in that, unless they are extremely good, these types of renders don't get the big numbers when it comes to 'likes'. There are a few, like Mavrosh for example, who consistently get the higher numbers in the galleries when it comes to male renders. I have serious doubts that things will change. For now, I just do a happy dance when I do see anything for the males in the shop and, if I can afford it, I buy it. I am slowly learning to make my own clothing, as well, so someday, I won't have to rely on the sporadic offererings of male clothing. I can just make it.
Cool! I can't wait to see your gallery Knittingmommy and those men's clothing! =-)
Just thought I'd show off my latest work. I started this the day @jepegraphics posted the new Iray presets for all of his fellows in this thread. I had to do a quick render of my favorite guy Leo after downloading the presets.
I thought he turned out pretty well for just a quick render. Anyway, I spent the last couple of weeks fleshing out the render and tweaking things here and there. I just posted my final render in my gallery. I think I'm finally getting a handle on Iray. Anyway, I thought you guys might appreciate the render as we need some renders in this thread.
There are a whole bunch of male things in fastgrab today. Maybe someone is reading
I may have been frustrated and a bit rude when I started this thread, but I'm on a mission to get things done. Been in contact with people from DAZ and they've passed it on to marketing. Would still love to hear from the marketing department, but glad to see that things are starting to change, and will hopefully stay that way.

That's awesome to hear. I really wanted to grab the morphing tuxedo and suit, but unfortunately I have zero dollars until next week :( Hopefully someone else can pick up some stuff to boost sales.
Aside from clothing I get from pro bundles which is my default way of buying new characters, and pc+ items, I almost never buy clothing. Almost all of it is far too specific. It'd look weird to have your background or everyday characters in something so flashy, but then if I used one outfit once for one character, I could never use it again without it being forever associated as being that character's outfit, if that makes sense. It'd be like all of your heroes in different stories wearing Batman's costume, only perhaps changing the colour of it occasionally. Most of the outfits I see make me feel like that regardless of gender (obviously there are exceptions.)
Of course, as soon as I go to look in the shop for some new release examples there are numerous outfits for G3F that are actually useful >.>
I get like that with hair. Clothes are a bit different for me. I tend not to buy characters and props, as most of those things I can make myself. Clothing is a lot harder to get right.
Oh yeah! Thank you for the Radioactive outfit. WOOT WOOT WOOT!!!!!
Yes, I immediately put that into my cart then saw the bundle. While I'm not crazy about the female outfit, I do like the Wasteland Environment so took out the outfit and put the bundle in my cart. Kind of hard to pass up bundles at that price. Just waiting to see if any other deals pop up throughout the day before cashing out. I think Sarsa and 3DLust did an outstanding job. I can't wait to play around with it.
I do have to wonder if there would be more demand for male content if the Daz marketing machine put more effort into creating a demand for it. Instead of a bikini-clad female at the top of and throughout every marketing email, why not a male character? Instead of the ads with V7 just standing there in her white bra, how about Daz ads with Scott 6 looking like he's just about to kick some ass?
Are there perhaps potential users that are turned off by the stigma that Daz/Poser is just for pinups and porn based on the marketing they see? If Daz/Rendo/RDNA markets its men doing manly things, perhaps they can better tap into a market that will demand and purchase more male content. Target and go after a different audience that's looking to tell stories with the software. Gamers? Roleplayers?
Just my thought that's been festering on this topic for some time now. I do know two male Studio users who gave up on the hobby because they couldn't find the content they needed to tell their stories of their male characters and a couple more who didn't even start because the content wasn't there. If I know a few, and I don't know many people in this hobby, then there's got to be a lot more out there who feel the same way they did.
I'm certain this has considerably more than a small effect. When the advertising is geared strictly toward one demographic -- well, what do you expect to get as a customer?
I'm sure, however, that people like Ron Mendell (quoted on the front page of Daz as using DS for some work for Ironman, Captain America etc.) sometimes must despair at the imbalance in content. Like most movies, the ones he's employed to work on have far fewer female characters. (So all this talk of most men wanting to *look* at women, not other men, somehow doesn't apply to movies, it seems.) Comic books, same thing. And in classical and fine art, in professional fantasy and sci-fi art, and in game art, male to female ratio seems very balanced. It's only the cheesecake category where just-out-of-their-teens (skimpily dressed) girls outweigh every other demographic.
Just because the current customers overwhelmingly demand one type of content doesn't mean that loads of new customers wouldn't demand something else -- if only Daz reached out to them.... And didn't turn them off within 3 seconds by having a store catalog that on some days looks like a cross between Fredericks of Hollywood and a BDSM cosplay boutique.
Edit: There's some great looking male clothing on the front page today, though!

First, your name is awesome.
Secondly, I had to google cheesecake category to figure out if it was an actual term of just randomly picked words, and I have learned many things:
"Category is" is a phrase popularized by the movie Paris is Burning. Used during "balls" or competitive gatherings to denote what category the contestants are competing in. Like if this was the Olympics and I said "category is: figure skating". But this is more dramatic and about drag fashion. "Category is: executive realness".
Cheesecake, also from Paris is Burning, is used to describe someone with "body" and who is "sexy". Body being having a lot of body or substance or physicality (size). Contrast with people who are only big but not sexy. Cheesecake is big AND sexy, like Latrice.
Thirdly, I agree with everything you said but mostly I wanted to say that I was sitting here going 'omg velvet goblin that is so cool and I don't know why."

Haha. Thank you. I really can't remember how I thought of it. I know it wasn't random. It may have been something like... I wanted "plush goblin" (like a stuffed toy), but it didn't quite sound right to me. :D
Maybe his hips are feminine and it's not the outfit
Geneis 2 male has a number of feminine quantities, especially when you buff him up he develops pretty huge thighs and the pecs.. But the outfit emphasizes the hips and mid rift, with the bare belly and REALLY tight jacket. this is sort of more usual on female 3d characters, than male characters.
The jacket is pretty painted on, especially considering he has a turtleneck under there. (perhaps to accomodate the chest gear).
I do really like the set and texture. But I would've liked a bit more bulk in the top. This is just a quickie using M6
the push does a fair job of bulking the jacket but distorts the turtleneck and hoodie as it all is one piece. I give props to the pa who made this since there are many adjustment morphs in this set which are nice for fitting it to odd sized characters

Knittingmommy, your hunk looks very nice! thanks for sharing him. =-)
i need a drummer boy outfit for a baby jesus render. Prolly use Brodie as the drummer boy.

Radioactive outfit was an instant buy. But then, men's clothes tend not to have "decorative sexy" holes.

Yes, radiactive outfit was a must-buy! Love it to the bits, and the add-ons too. All the gods know I've been waiting for something like this for ages!
Haha. Thank you. I really can't remember how I thought of it. I know it wasn't random. It may have been something like... I wanted "plush goblin" (like a stuffed toy), but it didn't quite sound right to me. :D
The pants on radioactive suit make m6 look like he has rather feminine hips... I like the outfit but I'm not sure abut the cut of those pants.
I really like the whole wasteland/ruins thing. I keep thinking I want to do this post apocalyptic/superhero thing at some point...
Male posters on 2 of the 3 blink sales I saw currently up (-esha- and Raiya) and 3? items in fastgrab. Someone's listening, be happy.
I thought the same.
Maybe his hips are feminine and it's not the outfit?
wondering how that new tangled outfit would look on gianni? :D

Any morph to loosen the jacket? Maybe a push modifier. Hmm.

Eh, with just the provided morphs on a reasonable figure (I upped Weight a bit and a few other things), it looks reasonable to me.
Played a bit with fit control, extended length a bit.
I like that a lot! Especially with the biker helmet.
Helmet is from: http://www.daz3d.com/sci-fi-helmet-kit-for-genesis-2-male-s-and-genesis-2-female-s , for the curious. ;)
(I've found it handy to use to make various robots, space suits, and so on, complementing other stuff)
HALLELUJAH!
