First day my freebie wasn't on my WL... although I would have grabbed it if it showed up in Outlet at 99-cents, so no complaints. Paid item was.

Looks like I spend some time fluffing up my WL today...

...I retract that. Apparently it WAS in my wishlist, and I just didn't recognize it all. I still think I'm going to fluff things up anyway, just to be safe, and then I can know going forward that I actually, truly do have all the non-D+ DO's I'm vaguely interested in on there.

Sorry, I don't have any of them (I just posted to fix the link to the second one for other people).

I purchased both but don't recall rendering either of them devil

I added a baby expression set yesterday to the wishlist and four other baby-related items. And the expression set showed up today. I'm slowly assembling a free baby. Thanks, Daz. Also, Santa should make an infant model even if it's G9. I'd buy it.

A baby showed up as my freebie too ... maybe it's (advent) formula baby day?!  laugh

I am very much enjoying a relaxing, small-time sale - A 2.99 item which has been 88% off minimum and one or two freebies... Just the one splurge and today I __almost__ bought a couple of the few Stonemason I have left on my WL (but even with a coupon, 82% wasn't bargain enough)

Thanks for fixing it. I should know to check these things.

I'm probably going to skip both, and just get one or both Dealz.

  • I have the coal stove and used it. I think there's another stove on DAZ but this seems the best.

well the free one is free and doesn't require another product so why not grab it?

  • freebie is a $20.95 61xxx and cheapie is a $19.99 89xxx

    Freebie SKU:62xxx cheapie SKU:87xxx.

The quality of the products offered in the calendar does not seem to change with the number of purchases, yesterday I did not purchase anything, because there was nothing that particularly attracted me and today's choice were two excellent items, all from my wl, (where I have more than 100 DO items), especially the paid one, which was one of my favorites in the WL (and which I bought immediately).

Still steadily getting wishlist items for both of my free and paid items in the range of SKU 91000 and below (freebies seem under 85k). I'll report if anything changes.

Today, for the second time in a row, both items were not on my wishlist. I have a wishlist from here to Vladivostok, with many DOs that are not overly expensive.

Either the 60+ estimated is just too low o we may need to add more items every couple of days just to improve the chances because the electable pool of items feels like being reduced by more than free + paid offer each day.

I had over 100 WL itemsG3/8 bellow $20 and eventually was given ancient usless (for me) on the freebie while the paid was from the WL. I decided to add more to the WL (even if i don't need them) and things got better for a couple days even without punches. I was offered two days in a row items that i recently added.

Today that i do have an actual puch i got an older one G3 (still from my wish list at least). Will see tomorrow with 2 punches. If it does not improve i will start adding a couple new items every day even if they are less priority.

Please note that there are more requirements than just "DOs that aren't overly expensive": those items have to be under certain SKU (it seems that under 90k for paid and 85k for free is a good bet), and they have to not be Daz+ items. On top of that, the size of your wishlist as a whole doesn't seem to matter. It's the amount of qualifying items that matters, and I recommend having about 100 of them (possibly less now, 1/3 into the month, but I wouldn't make that bet).

As far as I've seen, there's no correlation between the amount of punches and the perceived "quality" of the items offered (which is already subjective), and "better choices" is just poor wording, referring to the second sentence (get free choice with punches). Wishlist, SKU, and price seem to be only thing that matter.

While I've seen "60 items" floating around, I personally recommend having closer to 100, so that algorithm can actually "choose" from the pool rahter than cycle through it, especially that despite our findings, some items might not be elligible for whatever unknown reasons.

Thanks, Wolfwood and Joanna. I will put more DO items on the list that match the criteria.

I eliminated maybe 100 items from my wishlist last night.

I had previously set up my wishlist to each individual part of a bundle that I wanted.

The Advent feature offered me items that were useless unless I had the right parts to go with them.

An example would be a character based on Holt. I didn't have Holt. Couldn't use the character.

So it was a choice between trying to manipulate the "system," or getting what I really want.

So I restocked my WL 2 days ago.  I've never had anywhere near 60 what we think are qualifying items on it - and yet for first 7 days straight got a WL item as the paid-for. Yesterday, got another (restocked) WL item as paid for. Today - no WL item in either slot. Was same 3 days ago. I wonder if there's been a "slight tweak" to the formula?

I'd struggle (well, okay, spend a long time) to find too many more qualifying items that I do want... So going to keep buying punches and see what happens over the next couple of days.

I did get two items I did want from the QG and so saved myself $1!

I doubt it as nothing confirms it. It's more likely that you've dropped between the critical number of minimum WL items and your calendar is now substitituing with non-WL items. My guess is that unless you pad your WL, you'll see more and more non-WL items in it.

I'd struggle (well, okay, spend a long time) to find too many more qualifying items that I do want... So going to keep buying punches and see what happens over the next couple of days.

I get that when you already have a lot of older DOs, it might be find to hard something you really want. I'd recommend adding items you wouldn't mind getting for free rather than looking for items that you really want. It's just my perspective, but I'd consider getting something I consider "nice enough" for free rather than some textures for an ancient 2003 item or something. My wishlist is full of things I'm unlikely to buy, but as freebies? Sure, I'll be happy with them.

Of course, if you like the risk of getting non-WL items, I'll be all for you coming and reporting in to see how often you get a WL item, and how often you don't. :)

After following the advice given at the beginning of the Christmas giveaway season and restocking my wishlist every few days, I have scored a freebie everyday. On a couple of days I was offered an item not in my wishlist as a buy for 2.99. I stuffed some more items in my WL after those days. I have 108 Daz Originals in it at the mo. My thanks to Joanna for her sterling advice, much appreciated :)

You're welcome, and I'm passing the thanks to all other users who contributed their knowledge. I just started the thread ;)

Yeah, and even if I don't really care for the item, even if I would never use it.... if it gets me back over the threshold of it picking from my WL, it's worth the risk.

Assuming the coding works the way we think it does, where:

"X or greater on WL = random eligible DO from WL"
    and
"less than X on WL = random eligible DO from entire inventory in the store"

...at least the pool of items I want vs. items I don't is stacked in my favor with the first scenario.

I had already put a bunch of DOs in my WL because I, also, remember the amazing advent calendar gifts we've had before.  However, I had not known (or at least forgotten) many of the specifications mentioned in this thread.  I made sure my WL was ready several days before the advent calendar began, just in case it needed a "head start" XD  I am thrilled to report that every single free item has so far been from my WL (I think the paid have been as well, but I really don't even check those, I just jump on the freebies).  Thank you very much to everyone who has contributed to the info in this thread, I really appreciate it! ^_^

(Just for the record, if it helps, I am Daz+, and I do purchase around $1 every day to keep up the punches.)

  • Today both are from my WL. https://www.daz3d.com/olive-grove-ancient-olive-trees (free) & https://www.daz3d.com/english-style-tack-for-daz-horse-3. Which do I pick? I could get both, the trees are under $6.

Which will you use the most? Which would cost you the most if you had to pay for it? What will bring you joy?

At least you have free items you have on your wishlist. Mine are all items I would never buy nor even look at. But I am getting now the ones on the purchase side from my wishlist.

This is exactly my thinking. Thank you for putting it in words so well.
