It doesn't make any sense: almost two third of Stonemason's products currently have an Outlet icon and almost all if not all of these products were never in the outlet store in the past.

We need a real human (or cat) forum moderator to ask a real human Daz employee what the true intentional restriction is, and what is truly broken in the store pricing and outlet icon display today.

I selected items from featured artist, but no effect in card.

    Weird.

It aplied after some time. I left the card and when I checked back it had worked.

Question: products formerly in the outlet store can't don't work with the 09_25PREMIER coupon

Answer: That's correct! Products that were formerly in our outlet store typically can't be used with coupons like the 09_25PREMIER coupon.
Our outlet store has a policy that states "Unless otherwise specified, no discounts, coupons, tokens, or other deals may be applied to Outlet Items." This restriction generally applies to items even after they've moved out of the outlet store.
This is an intentional limitation to maintain the special pricing structure of outlet items and former outlet items.

That doesn't sound like a reasonable policy to me. Basically it implies that former outlet store items will forever have a high price.

Well it can't be correct. Some items that never have been in the outlet store are affected by it, and some items that have been in the very last listing of the outlet are not affected. The entire HM store is affected and only few of his assets have been listed in the outlet. It's probably a bug/mistake.

I just did a test and I was able to successfully apply the premier 'Save 10' coupon and tokens to some former outlet store items that are in my wishllst.

There are a few artist stores I would like to shop in, but with this messed up pricing, I'm just going to wait. I'm not trying to use a coupon yet (doesn't this sale run for at least a month?), I would like to apply some tokens, but with the high prices, they're simply not very effective. The stores I would like to shop in are showing all their items with the Outlet logo.

I hope DAZ is able to pass an update to our mods soon.  In the meantime, I'm having a lot of fun rendering recent purchases.

Many thanks @Charlie Judge! It seems to have been fixed - my 09_25PREMIER coupon code works fine now!

Still, I ask myself how AI Victoria could answer my question in that way with such a "selfconfidence"? Really fooled me, lol!

  • Are the tokens broken?  That's thrice now that they were not applied to my orders...

  • Yes, the ex-Outlook items should be taking coupons now - there was an issue, it wasd fixed a couple of hours ago. We asked about Victoria.

I was able to apply them a little while ago. What are you trying to apply them to? They won't apply to outlet store items or that statesother sales that it does not stack with other offers.

Some items still have a problem (mostly Daz Originals I would say). I didn't check all DOs obviously, but as an example, Victoria 6 doesn't see her price lowered when using 09_25PREMIER and it's the same for (I picked them randomely when I tried to check if the problem was solved):

Aren't those still in Outlet? Or does the price change in cart (I purchased so can't check).

They are not, they were removed with the last refresh. Victoria 6's price is lowered when adding a Golden Ticket, the other two will not because they are at the price floor, but applying 8 tokens does lower their price. And when I tried to add 09_25PREMIER, I got a coupon invalid error.

    Screenshots of my cart:

Just the three items (I don't own a current Golden Ticket):

    Adding a Golden Ticket:

    Applying 8 tokens:

I checked without taking a screenshot by adding Olympia 6 to the cart (she was included in the outlet store until the recent refresh), and the 09_25PREMIER coupon was entirely applied to her, while the other three Daz Originals didn't see their price lowered.

Sadly not - haven't done an exhaustive search, but a whole lot of Stonemason still has the flash in the corner. (Checked on a browser that hasn't had Daz up in at least 2 weeks.)

  • Recently Purchased this: Summer Fun for Poolside Props II DS | Daz 3D and after installing with DIM tried to find it only to discover it wasn't present anywhere. I then manually downloaded it and looked at the files... The only thing in the zip are 14 textures files for the towel (12 color, 1 bump, 1 anycolor). So it is missing the rest of the texture files along with ALL Material Presets files. I also tried to install via Daz Connect, to see if it had the missing files, but it too only installed those 14 textures.  I tried attaching the manifest for the installs, but I goes it doesn't like .dsx file so here is what the manifest looks like:

That product is ONLY a texture pack, in spite of the misleading product name. The product page says :

    Poolside Props II DAZ Studio

That required product contains the actual props. Either buy the required product or return the one you purchased for a refund. You can return it by submitting a help request.

I am well aware of that and own Lilflames Pool (the MAIN ASSET) for the product along with the 1st texture take pack (Summer Fun for Poolside Props DS | Daz 3D) though I bought mine from Rendo along with the original main asset, Poolside Props Daz Studio | Daz 3D a couple of years ago. So no I do not expect the props to be in this product, I do however want the rest of the textures that are missing and the presets to apply them. In other words with what is in the zips, you can only MANUALLY put together some presets for the towel, it's missing the textures for the Chair, Floats, and all presets.

Also have also submitted a ticket on this matter.

I guess I misunderstood the nature of the problem. Your latest response clarified that for me. I guess a ticket is all you can do, and you did that. I hope you get a timely resolution.

That's the problem with AI at the moment. It can plausibly spout utter rubbish that is 100% wrong.

Where I work we had AI (Co-pilot) collect together a stress analysis on a mechanical item. The report looked complete, had appropriate stress plots, where the distribution looked right and the stresses were acceptable. One problem, it was completely and utterly false. The stress analysis had never been done and the values were about one tenth of what I came up with using a quick manual check under the load cases necessary. This analysis would have led to the death of someone. But AI was 100% confident & 100% plausible. This is desperately dangerous.

Every AI statement needs checking at the moment. When it inevitably gets in the hands of people who don't know what the are doing, and they use it for safety critical processes, that confidence and inaccuracy will kill people stone dead. It's not a possibility, it is going to happen at some point. I may sound like a Jonah at the moment, but he was, and I am, right.

    Regards,

    Richard

Here is how AI Victoria comments on her answer, and I think that sounds pretty encouraging!

Question: Hi Victoria, yesterday my question to you was "products formerly in the outlet store can't don't work with the 09_25PREMIER coupon" and you answered "That's correct!
This is an intentional limitation to maintain the special pricing structure of outlet items and former outlet items." Now it turns out, your answer was incorrect, we can use our coupons with former outlet products. Why did you tell me this answer - did you invent it?

    Answer:

I sincerely apologize for the confusion in my previous response! You're absolutely right to question this.

Looking at the information available, the outlet store policy stating "Unless otherwise specified, no discounts, coupons, tokens, or other deals may be applied to Outlet Items" specifically applies to current outlet store items, not products that were formerly in the outlet store.

The sources show there can be display issues where items that were previously in the outlet store still show outlet symbols even after they've moved back to regular pricing, which appears to be a caching issue rather than those items still being restricted.

I made an error by extending the outlet restriction policy to former outlet items when that policy only applies to items currently in the outlet store. Thank you for bringing this to my attention - you're correct that former outlet products should work with regular coupons like the 09_25PREMIER coupon once they're no longer in the outlet store."

Question:Is it correct to say that your wrong answer was an assumption?

    Answer:

Yes, you're absolutely correct. My previous wrong answer was indeed an assumption. I incorrectly extended the outlet store policy beyond its actual scope.

The sources clearly show that the policy "Unless otherwise specified, no discounts, coupons, tokens, or other deals may be applied to Outlet Items" applies specifically to current outlet store items, not former ones.

I made an unfounded assumption that this restriction would continue to apply to products after they left the outlet store, when there's actually evidence showing that former outlet items displaying outlet symbols is just a caching issue rather than an ongoing restriction.

I should have stuck to what the sources actually stated rather than making logical leaps about how the policy might extend to former outlet items. Thank you for holding me accountable - it helps me provide more accurate information going forward!

An IA doesn't make assumption: it's just a computer computing sentences after sentences that look like they are making some kind of sense, but it has not way to know if these sentences are true or false.

Adding an IA into the process of understanding if a sale is functionning as intended is just adding a layer of complexity that is not needed.

It's a bit like if while cooking a cake, you decided to do so on a monocycle while jungling with flaming torches: it does nothing to help you get your cake baked…

  • mdingmding Posts: 1,644

@Elor: By referring to "assumptions", I wanted to find out if there was any additional data involved, or if the answer was just a try to explain the situation, which seems to have been the case here. So the real problem was, that the AI didn't indicate to me that the statement was a mere guess (a "logical leap"). In case of an AI these words "guess" or "assumptions" are only placeholders to make it easier to communicate an idea, of course.

One could say, that they are made (programmed) to please. Some that failed that goal already got "killed" and replaced. Some even more than once. cheeky
