I still think so in fact, and for this reason alone, I will not buy into Premier, come hell or high water. I would of course be fine with buying the Sculptor on its own, but DAZ never gave us the chance.

And the laughable conversion "deal" they gave to trade in remaining D+ months for Premier did not put me in a favorable mood towards it, either.

At this point my plan is just to ride out my D+ membership (now goes through Jan 2027), with the hope that before it ends I can knock off the stuff from my WL that's on there because I for sure want it (as opposed to being on there because it's pretty and I want to be able to find it again if it turns out I do have a use for it). By then I'll have three years of shopping -- and learning the software -- under my belt, and theoretically there won't be a lot of gaps left in what I need for assets. I'll probably keep checking to see if something shows up that absolutely wows my socks off, but I really don't want this to turn into an ongoing, long-term expenditure.

And hey, maybe at that point I'll put the shopping energy into learning to make stuff. There are a couple of local settings I want that I'm just going to have to craft myself. One of them would probably be pretty easy (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prospect_Park_Water_Tower) but I need to just brace myself to be frustrated and suck at the whole process until I figure it out.

(I also want to do some of the buildings from the local Renaissance Faire, but that's going to be a bit more ambitious. So I'm starting with the giant tube with windows first LOL)

    wrong quote, cloudflare didn't help

on the other side of the coin, maybe, just maybe if we had access to Dforce simulation of our strandbased hairs, even if it couldn't be saved to redistribute and use by others

    I might have joined

HDmorphs I care less about , I have workarounds for my own use

Sounds cool and doable, be sure to show us some pictures of your work in the forums or the gallery once you got round to starting on it (well, obviously only if you really feel like sharing ;-)).  I'd love to see some more historical buildings around here, so am crossing my fingers you'll eventually get to that part of the crafting as well.

today as example of savings. I have 3 DO bundles, What I usually do is add to my cart then go in and decide which product I actually would use the most, and delete the rest. The total as it stand right now is $42, so considering what is in the cart, not too bad. It also brings in 8 tokens, which replaces the 8 I'm using on this order. 3 items are from my WL. I really like Damira and her bends, they are very nice. That she is G9 I am assuming she could be used as a base to introduce other characters or morph her to look like different characters. We shall see.

Barnabus - I jumped on him from the beginning and now purchasing his products as they go on sale. I  have Lyna character bundle, so the add-on bundle @$7.70 is nice for sure. Lucas is a great price as well. The Orc bundle might get deleted as I don;t do many orc images. We shall see about that.

FREE always goes to me laugh I don;t pass them up. One never knows when they will come in handy.

I'm into strong male characters, and like I've said before, characters with character, and Frank for sure fits that bill.
The decayed room fits in with a lot of what I render, decayed, apocalyptic stuff.

As with most DAZ sales now, you need a buy-in of a new debut product, so I chose the strand based French Braid hair. 71% off isn;t really too bad for a new released item. Today there are two new releases that I would use, the school bus, and the hair.

There is one more product that is in the Outlet store for $1.99 from Code66 that I should put in cart, that's the Emission Profile Master | Daz 3D  I like the results from this for sure. Some added realism to emission lighting.

Anyway, sorry to bore you with my thought process, but I go through this nearly everyday, but so far I've only purchased the $2.99 item the last few days just to keep the punches going. Today. the punch 40% and 8 tokens

Naturally Bending Damira HD for Genesis 9 Feminine  $28.99  $3.65 87% Off
    Lucas 9 HD Character Bundle $99.99 $6.44 94% Off
    Z Magnetic Pose Set for Genesis 9 and 8 Female $9.99 $0.00 100% Off

    dForce Strand-Based FE French Braid Hair for G9 & G8.1 $24.99 $7.34 71% Off
    M3D Frank HD for Genesis 9 $21.99 $2.9 687% Off
The Leprechaun for Barnabus Ragwort $19.99 $3.36 83% Off

Barnabus Ragwort Body Hair Collection $17.99 $3.02 83% Off
    Lyna 9 HD Add-On Bundle $89.99 $7.72 91% Off
    Orcs 9 HD Add-On Bundle $89.99 $2.65 97% Off
    M3D Decayed Room $21.99 $2.96 87% Off

    Order Summary

    Subtotal$425.90
    Discounts$-385.80
    Sales Tax$2.19
    Total $42.29

The fun bit is I have Premium and I have never even used Sculptor or any of the "Premium features" ..

I have only bought it for discounts as I still buy quite a lot overall.

I have tried the Premium Render queue and it is causing annoyances I don't wan't to be dealing  with, so went back to RQ3.

Not gonna be moving to DAZ5 any time soon unless that changes.

For me, learning a new program requires brain cells, time, and focus. I don't often have all three at once. (And I admit that while I like technology once I figure it out, I tend to be very daunted when I'm starting out.)

But yeah, I'm totally going to let shaders do the heavy lifting for textures. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Oh, absolutely, and I imagine I'll put the geometry up as freebies once I get them cobbled together.

First step is probably researching which of the available programs is least likely to cause a self-inflicted concussion by beating my head against my desk. Which, realistically speaking, will probably be whichever one has the best video tutorials.

Smartest move would probably be to try and start working in Blender. But it's really rather daunting I think, personally ... There's just something about the interface that doesn't sit right with me I guess, even with the newest iteration. Or its many possibilities are just too overwhelming. But maybe you'll manage to get a grip on it?

By the way, really helpful thing against overspending: Have a dear friend or loved one watch you play around with your current cart or WL over your shoulder and tell you what they think of the stuff you're planning on getting - works best if it's someone with a good eye and from outside CG! Very sobering. Example: that newish pair of jeans by Sue Yee, with the red belt. I thought it was so realistic and cool and wanted to get it. All the SU stuff just has this kind of ultra-realistic vibe and appeal to me. here's the gist of the dialogue:
Me: Oooh, the jeans are so lovely, amazing how real the folds look, and that belt!

She: Sorry, but how did those folds (back of thighs) even get there at all? And why do they look like the fabric has been pinched? And she's standing right now, why do the folds stay in the cloth and don't straighten out?

Me: Ah well, the normals are a bit strong mebbe. ... But just see how realistic the back pockets look in that closeup!

She: And how often are you gonna render them like that?

Me: Yeah, well, not that often probably, but - but the belt! It's so real too! And it's red!

She: (just looks at me with a pitying kind of smile, then goes): Don't you have all these tons of shaders? No red in there?

    Me: (makes gasping-fish-face)

Don't get me wrong, Sue Yee does great work, but ... the girl was spot on really.

I know it's late in the day, but for those still shopping, I wanted to point out that "Pick Wands and Hats" section (up to 5 with any HoliDaz item) is applicable multiple times. So you can keep buying the same HoliDaz item and get 5 items for $3.99 (or less with punches) each time. Not sure if it was intended, though.

Heh... that examle you gave is pretty much my internal monologue anyway. Probably explains why I go months without buying anything, sometimes.

And the interface issues are a big chunk of why I've been putting off starting Blender. I've heard several people make similar comments, and... well... that's stuff never comes easily to me in the first place. I'm still peeved off from when MS Office switched to that cursed ribbon interface. Threw off my groove entirely.

Yes yes++ that is the thorn that pricks Premier as an option for me and made me quit DAZ+. It stung big time. I did buy back in 3 weeks ago as DAZ+ but only for a month. First time ever in almost a decade that I only rejoined DAZ+ for a month. The sting is still strong.

I have been vocal in the past when a sale has not been stellar, or simply not worked, but this weeks sale has been great, put a decent dent in my neverending wishlist (my wishlist feels like the flaggon of ale Thor has in Stranges house in Ragnarok) and I got some nice freebies. +1

the "free " item today requires a product I dont have, so not free. Too bad. The other appears to be an umbrella with plant textures. Who knows.
    That is all.

  • FYI. If you've been looking for a police uniform with a shirt that buttons all the way up, so it doesn't look like a Sexy Policewoman costume on females, there's a Genesis1 in the freebie selection. Yes, it's old but it's free and should be fine especially for far & mid distance. (That main promo is so cringey sexist however).

I hope so. Can you get Daz to add an Irony tag to the thumbnail?

And FTR, I still got it, because I don't have one and I must be prepared for when I am inspired to do urban fantasy or donut shop art. ;)

Just FYI, don't quite know where else to put this: I've just started a thread on historical clothing in the DAZ store, or outfits which can be adapted to historical settings. If you're interested in this sort of thing, it's here: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/737091/the-romance-of-certain-old-clothes-historical-outfits-collection#latest

I'm basically making one long post per time period and filling them with links and short comments to all the stuff I've collected so far for historical uses. Am also hoping to add renders in the nearer future.

And still no gift card sale! Except for a small gift card I bought at full price I have been out of credit for quite awhile and really need a good gift card sale. Has DAZ given up on having discounted gift cards.???

Me too ... I did exactly the same thing, bought a small gift card at full price so I could buy daily small purchases from store credit. I've wishlisted a few things and might have bought more but am trying to stretch this gift card to the next gift card sale.

I'm really hoping they haven't given up! I'm down to under ten dolllars so I've not bought anything for several days - please please please give us a GC sale!

Been picking up a few gift cards here and there to keep my Punches going (not from the GC purchase but I only pay for items with gift cards -- ah, except for the gift card itself of course).  I'm afraid they're trying to avoid stacking a discounted gift card purchase with the punch discounts.  But they really should have had move GC sales recently.  People have to stock up!

Monthly 10/15/20% off sale for everyone!

Monthly single use coupon for same for DAZ+ Members!

Monthly double use coupon for Premier  Members!!

A Gift Card in every Cart!

pretty quiet here, but I suppose its becasue the current sale is ongong and not changing much day to day. Overall I think its actually one of the better sales in awhile, considering the $2.99 and free products. OK, yeah not always usefull or whatever, but there have been a few pretty decent ones. The opening salvo products, 50-70% off are actually overall decent and with the punch 40% off and the discounting with tokens, if you have any, are pretty good as well.
Again, I'm grabbing my WL items for a great price/discount. I have 3  in the cart now with discount range of 85-94% off. There is 20% off for DO items as well, so I've picked up a couple add-on bundles for pretty good price. Full add-on bundle for Ashley 9, for example is $5.40, 94% off in my cart.  With the new DAZ decducting the items in a bndle that you already own, I have 3 add-on bundles for $2.++ in my cart as well.

Anyway, I guess I'm being a DAZ promoter, but if they're giving me products for that price, I'm grabbing them when I can. Only wish I had more money.

Have to laugh... I clicked on the freebie of that gold... accessory? I hadn't had my coffee yet and thought it was a free character not a free wearable.

Anyway, under the "other products you may be interested in" section was a bikini... and a santa suit. Like, a regular, full-coverage one, not a sexy one.

I guess that section is as targeted as the LD used to be...
