English is my native language and I have problem understanding the sales terms quite often, and many of us,so you are all good
Gift cards have worked in some previous punch card offers but not in others; so no telling whether they work this time.
HU: Also the terms say "Purchase 2 days in a row to get ..."; so it looks like if you miss a day you will lose all your punches
yeah, kind of regret not tossing more in my cart to use those 4 tokens too
but will be another punch tomorrow and more off at least
so might go bigger then and get more tokens in the process
If it's not meant to work with a gift card, it really ought to be disclosed in some fine print. (Which Daz doesn't always do, I realize, but...)
I'll report back tomorrow on if I have a punch or not.
It has previously! $1.01 GCs were how I and others stayed in the punch game in previous promos. Then I'd spend the GC funds when there was something I wanted to buy. Charlie Judge is saying it didn't always work that way in previous promos - Only sometimes. Maybe it's not working this time. IDK.
It seems to be disclosed already. This time the terms seem really clear . . .
miss a punch and the punch clock resets to zero
purchases of gift cards do not trigger a punch discount.
Memberships Gift Cards and Licenses will not be diiscounted by Holiday rewards. But . . . DAZ has been known to surprise us when we least expect it. Yeah! Christmas in July! Why did I take down the Christmas tree last month?
That definitely wasn't there this morning. Ah, well. I'll just be grateful for whatever comes up in the PA gifts (and maybe if a HoliDaz deal strikes my fancy) and call it good.
Mine's still up from Yule of 2021. =P
The kids and I enjoy looking at it year-round... and also it does a good job of blocking the railing that separates the upper floor from the drop-off of the stairs, so Little Dude can't crawl up and over. Because I know he'd try it if he could get to it.
logged in at 9 pm daz time
Saw a couple items in the two or three stunner sale
so I went an renewed sub (did't like the card I've been using so had to go in to delete it reentered it to get the same card to work, huh?
hit the link to the sale items and the coupon codes don't work
and it's now only 10:20 daz time Monday night
or perhaps this was a weekend sale that ended last night?
So why did it come up when I logged in?
The number of pages to lookatdrope from 122 to 88 when i officially logged in
Daz that's 4760 items at120 apage
and still I can't filter those 88 pages for wish list.
because if I look at all of them I might buy something?
Well not if "I say not going to look at all which I just did".. because even if I did the coupon is not working
Purchases of Gift Cards do not trigger punch card discount.
They lost me there in this promotion. GC doesn't work.
I can confirm this. Both has been true in previous punch-card style promotions.
This time it appears that gift cards do count, at least for now.
Can the items in the outlet store trigger punch card?
I somehow missed the esha's free item yesterday and it hurts me (mentally) more than I thought :(.
Yes, as long as your purchase is at least $1
Hopefully there will be a catchup at some point
Thanks. I really hope for a catchup on freebie but as I recalled there weren't in previous sales. There were catchups on Daz+ for a day or other but I don't recall there has ever a catchup on freebie, especially now the item isn't available for purchase. I'd even pay for it but sadly can't now ...
I don't know if esha will do it, but some PAs will share their freebies later on their website or other stores.
I missed some snazzy socks during the real Christmas sale, felt similar. Daz recycled the free items later in the sale to give folks a second chance, so keep an eye out!
I didn't see the fine print yesterday, glad they clarified. Also I bought a $1.23 gift card yesterday and didn't get a punch, as confirmation!
I was analyzing the buy-ins for this sale to help with my budgeting.
Monthly buy in:
Daily buy in:
Assuming a 3 week (21 day) sale, that makes the buy-in for this sale 21 x $2 + $20 = $62 in the best case, plus tax, unless using gift cards or only charging up the punch cards sometimes. $62 just to play. Also, the sale pricing / floor pricing will surely take into account that many people will have gc + tokens + punch cards + Premier.
I might sit this one out and consolidate my shopping for a later sale, since I currently have what I need for my projects! :/
There might be a biweekly or something like that recap with the free items. Sometimes there is, sometimes it's with a buy-in price. Sometimes there is nothing no one could tell with DAZ.
So close ...
I think Daz not allowing for giftcard purchases to count toward punches is a shot in the foot. Not only the store credit is something people can spend only in Daz, but also having it along with the punches encourages people to spend (and usually spend more).
If I could do punches via giftcard, I would probably keep buying giftcards daily just in case I want something, and I wouldn't be upset if that something never comes, because I didn't feel forced to buy anything I didn't really want for the punches and I still have the store credit to use. But since I can't stock up punches via giftcards, when that something I want comes around, I'll likely be punchless and decide to just wait for another sale, because I'm not buying things I really don't need that much for to maintain punches.
On top of that, it discourages buying things in general, because the incentive of punches is actually gone. For example, today I could get VYK's figure. I don't need her, but she's nice and only $2.99. But when I remember that tomorrow there might not be anything for me to buy and keep my punches, instead of going "it's only $2.99" I lean toward, "no, I don't really need her." Which again is less sales for Daz. I know $2.99 or a $1.5 giftcard is not crazy money, but when you multiply it by many users who will also not go on a shopping spree with their punches (because they have none), then, well, I think it becomes a bigger chunk of change.
Agreed, @joanna -- especially with a lot of people needing to tighten budget belts these days, I think this is really going to disincentivize many shoppers.
I am going to do a minor splurge on the Ettoo character, purely for the textures because I actually have a use for them. (That cloak is pretty spiffy, too.) I'm looking at the punches much like I do the tokens, though... I'll have them if they're naturally occurring, and they're neat if they come in handy, but most likely to expire before I can use it.
I believe the thinking is that you could get punch credit twice. For example you could buy a $1 one day and get a punch then spend the gift card the next day and get another punch.
Sure. But while it makes sense for tokens that just have an expiry date and can be used whenever, I feel it disincentivizes promotion where you have to keep spending to maintain your discount. And if you want people to be in the spending mood, making it easier for them to maintain punches seems more logical than making it harder. Because when they have punches, they're more likely to spend more money. When they don't... there's always another sale, meaning Daz gets nothing until it happens. :)
The daily deals are discounted by the punch card, so after three punches, it'll have an additionnal 40% discount.
Regarding the outlet store, getting two $0.99 is one cent cheaper than getting one $1.99.
About Gift Cards, I suppose as they want us to spend one dollar or more per day, spending it on a gift card lower the threshold: we could buy Gift card for $1, then hypothetically find a $1 product the next day and so on, lowering what we're spending to keep the card punched to $0.5.
A way to solve that while keeping the gift card as a solution for a day when we're not finding something to buy could be to allow gift card as long as they are over $2, but I don't know neither if the store is capable of that, nor if Daz feels inclined to provide that solution.
Cool. I was on the fence, because yes, textures are nice, but for now I decided against Ettoo. Nothing against VYK and the price is great, but well, Daz's approach to punches did not put me in the spending mood. And since there's a sale on audiobooks I'm considering getting... I might just shop somewhere else, because Daz made me feel it's better to do so at the moment.
Good info, I overlooked the daily deals receiving the punch card discount. Also, a single legacy outlet store item at $0.99 will cost just over $1 after tax is applied, so maybe that would count toward the punches too. Either could maybe lower the buy-in price I calculated. It's possible I might even want some of the items, which would soften the impact, but for the sake of the buy-in calculation I tend to assume I'll be buying old/unwanted stuff I wouldn't consider otherwise.
I would assume tax is not going to count toward the $1 threshold based on the fact that it's never counted for things like extra discounts at minimum price, coupons (like Daz+ coupon), and tokens.
I would probably buy a lot more if the buy-in of the debut new release was something I wanted or needed. I've noticed a ton of new PAs, which is cool to get some diversity of product, but that really isn;t happening. Instead its rehash of products we've seen, or close versions of, for generation of figures. I have a ton of swimwear, how many more bikinis can I use?all of it. I'm in the market for more enfironments. XI is giving us a lot, but the street products are pretty much all the same other than the architecture of a given city.
Oh well, I'm digging the punch card thing, at least I can keep it active for $1.79. That premier 40% will be great once I can buy something. The other downfall are the prices of the new releases. Usuall $12 for textures and the clothing set now at $17.50. So many bundles at $35 and up, usually for 3 products. Yeah...here I am complaining again. It does bug me...but the old saying goes, if you can;t stand the heat get out of the kitchen.
If I buy now gift cards I lose 10-20% vs a sale... I don't buy now every day at 100% a GC but will buy later at 80% and use that credit on a later sale.
Thanks for the reports on the giftcards
Is a pity but as a few have put, you can buy "something not particularly wanted" for ~ $1 to keep the thing ticking. Not a problem today as I had coupon and tokens and now I have the filatoon "shader kit" for a decent deal
Will see how it goes over the next few days.
Made the big mistake of thinking a DO Bundle would be similar price two days running... Had a cart I was very happy with yesterday....Hoping for the extra punch today and getting meh!
Playing Russian roulette with my membership and last $10 coupon... I should be OK tomorrow but... fool me twice and all that with premature member malarkey.
