...so far I've purchased more from items the Outlet Store (as I mentioned even found 3 items on my wishlist there) than I ever did from LD. Then again, even though I am retired, I can't baby-sit the store every three hours as I have other things to do.
While I did get some really good deals from LD, they were by far the exception. The "curated" items in my LD selections were rarely relevant to anything I ever purchase. I too have purchased more in the short time Outlet Store has been running than in the past several months on LD.
I'm enjoying the OS quite a bit. Hopefully they'll keep a nice selection of items.
There is nothing new, as I see it. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) The number of items didn't change, and there are the same number of items on my wishlist.
Outlet Store started the 15th. Today is the 19th. Let's see what happens on the 22nd.
+7 or + 14 or 1st of every Month, etc... Time will tell.
Agreed!
I'm just thinking it would probably make most sense from the store's POV if the outlet renewed monthly, so that people got their subscription renewed as well, to make stuff cheaper.
Huh, this guessing game is actually kind of fun.
Imagine how fun it would be if it never updated :D
There could well be a fair bit of work in identifying the products as 'Outlet', the tag to go over the image, the identification of old or recent and the injection of a new image into the text to indicate it's an outlet part. Well, this is more work than is normal for a sale, even if not a huge amount. As a result, I don't think there will be a lot of churn - as one person could easily end up working full time on it if DAZ don't look out.
Regards,
Richard
well if it stays up unchanged long enough, I will eventually pick it clean but won't be spending much monthly
It's probably as much as setting up Featured Artist Stores for a single sale. So it's probably pretty easy, or I should say it should be pretty easy.
Or, on the other hand, why wouldn't the Outlet store get the same treatment as Bryce, Carrara, Daz NFT, Daz AI, etc.? Just another old Christmas toy.
Outlet gets more of a plug
see what I did there
This is my second best guess, actually
. Or more specifically, like this: It will not update for ages and ages and ages, until everyone has bought everything they might possibly ever want, and then some; and then it gets updated once with reaaaaally old stuff; and then it lingers on for a while, until it finally disappears.
I know this sounds crazy, but if this is an ongoing project, should be possible to automate all that. After all, the price calculation is far simpler than for the average day sale and the price point can work off of product id - Up to a certain number it's $1.99/$0.99; over that it's $3.99/$1.99. They could possibly even automate the selections. Setup might be a bit of work, but ongoing should be easy. And wouldn't they have done all that before launching it?
Very clever, Wendy!
This! ^
I think it needs to change at least twice a month (weekly would be better) or it will start to feel very stale! It doesn't even have to be a 100% change - just have some fresh products going in, some stale products going out.
Weekly seems reasonable, but indicating the changes would be EVEN MORE reasonable.
Agreed!
Shockingly great pun
ps: We should have gotten store1 and store2 with the $3.99 and the $1.99, not all in a single store. (Outlet Legacy and Outlet)
I'd say "you'd think" but... you'd think they'd proofread/test/SOMETHING their other stuff before go-live, too, so...
I keep thinking of that scene in "Hear No Evil, See No Evil" where they're in the car and Gene Wilder yells "keep your eyes on the road!" and Richard Prior goes "...if it'll make you feel better..."
I believe they called that... Fast Grab!
Seeing as we are all speculating. How's this for an off the wall speculation. Daz has negotiated with the PAs and those that agreed offered products for the outlet store on a slow rotation that also includes an ever moving date. If I am not mistaken the newest product is 2017. Daz may have it set up for each month for new items to be added. For example. If the newset item is 8 years old. That may be the triger, when the next batch get to 8 years old, they will be added and the same moving date for recent to vintage. Effectively newer items being added and slow rotation of existing items.
Yes, though the outlet store has much more attractive pricing. Anyway, FG proves they could do it. Now, they're not doing it, at least not yet. FG had far fewer items and each item in FG item rotated through in a few days.
@druc Could be, time will tell!
The newest legacy is from the beginning of June in 2017.
The newest "recent" is from the end of July in 2022.
ps: We should have gotten store1 and store2 with the $3.99 and the $1.99, not all in a single store. (Outlet Legacy and Outlet)
I know but you have to use your Care Bear powers to send those Wish Bear feelings of positivity that maybe the marketing manager's heart will be moved to see a new paradigm.
