RRRR Stupid is as stupid does!

This time we run a themed contest, and the theme is Stupid is as stupid does, as Forest Gump's mother used to say. (Thanks Mr OBanion for the idea).

We all know the moment some one says "Hold my beer and watch this", that things will go terrible wrong, or after something did go terrible wrong and someone says "What the hell were you thinking!?".

For all who have no clue what the RRRR is, it stands for “Random Runtime Roulette Renders”.

Who can play?

Anyone can play!

How do you prepare yourself for play?

The rules are very simple, but first you need to have all your items in some kind of order in a text file, dumped from the itemized history into a text file or a spread sheet. Remove things like software, gift certs, and special plugins from the list.
Then you use a randomizer to randomly pick 4 items from your list (your Runtime/My Library). You can use items from any store.

Lucky Bastard Rule!
If you have sticky lucky bastards, you pull one extra item for each LB you have, simple as that.

Lucky Bastard standings
Luci45: 4 LB
Barbult: 3 LB
Dumor3D: 2 LB
Totte: 2 LB
MelanieL: 1 LB
zawarkal: 1 LB
Karibou: 1 LB
selias19: 1 LB

Randomizer that works well:random.org
Randomizer where you get all numbers in one draw:All at once

There are some situations where you allowed to redraw, these are:

- You picked something that doesn’t work, broken thing, only works in a version / software not used etc etc.

- You picked a software or add-on to a software or anything you should have filtered out from the list.

- You picked only huge environment props and will not be able to render a scene without crashing.

- You picked an item you already have been using in two RRRR renders in this content and that was picked randomly. Three is a curse - rule!

Bundles

If you pull a bundle, use two three complete items from it, or more if you like, but you do not need to use all, but only picking a hairpin from V4 Complete Bundle is “too little”. Clarification: A bundle still counts as only one pulled item.

Poses, Expressions and textures/colors
If you pull a pose pack, an expression pack or a texture/color pack, you only need to use one of them, not all. For example if you pull 500 expressions for V4, use one, if you pull 128 colors for Frappe Hair, use one.

The rules of madness!

Now you have successfully and randomly picked your items, make a scene, you can add other items as well but the one you picked should be prominent or cleverly used. Render it, post it and make us all laugh! Remember though that the renders must follow the TOS of the forum. As we have a theme on the contest, the render should in some way touch that theme.

The contest categories!

There are two categories, Funniest and Best, you get it. A fun render might maybe not be a super great render but will cause the viewer to fall of the chair laughing.

Contest duration!

It stats now at September 1, and will go on until Sunday October 4 at 23:59:59 local DAZ time.

Yes, we have prizes, thanks to our sponsors!
This months sponsors so far:

ART Collaborations has put in $20 in DAZ Store Credits
KenOBanion has put in $100 in DAZ Store Credits
zarcondeegrissom has put in $40 in DAZ Store Credits
Diomede64 has put in $10 in DAZ Store Credits
MelanieL has put in $20 in DAZ Store Credits.
Karibou has put in $20 in DAZ Store Credits.
Totte is sponsoring with one item for his store to each winner.
Dumor3D is sponsoring with an item from his store to each winner.
Karibou is sponsring with her KB-HDR Lights Vol 1 (for Iray) (sold elsewhere) to the top three in each category.

I hope we can attract some more sponsors.
Sponsors may of course participate in the contest, their own decision. As Ken O Bannion so elegantly put it, sponsors play for keeps.

If you want to sponsor this RRRR, send me a PM or post in the thread!

More to know?

I will edit this when new info on sponsors arrive.

Maximum number of entries?

Yes, this time we limit the number of entries per person to eight, eight is the holy number for this contest.

Are you ready to render in 3….2….1…..go!

Entries!
Post your entries here together with your pull and your comments, and feel free to comment on other peoples work as well.
We post images in the Entries only thread with tag and name. We also post the entries in this thread with a full list of the randomly picked items and also, which is a free choice, other used items.

Hooray! Another good theme. Gives me an excuse to revisit some Aggie joke books. Put me down for my usual sponsorship. I limited myself to my Daz content list this time. Ended up with seemingly incompatible sets and shaders, but that is RRRR at its best. Should be fun.

Saved by only one environment. Hmm, a bad guy, monk clothes, some storage weapons, this just can’t go well for poor PD Tom ;-)

Diomede (and all others), I'm working on a DAZ Studio script to randomize straight out of your smart content, hopefully finished before the next round starts.

Yea, RRRR is back! And I only have 8 LBs.

Thanks Ken and Totte for a wonderful, I mean appropriate, theme. Hehe, should be fun! laugh

Wow, Totte, great pull. I don't know who that Tom is, but I guess I'll find out.

Here is my first (very stupid with 4 stupid freebies) pull:

    Freak 3 Genesis
    Genesis 2 Female(s) Expressions & Face aniBlocks
    Space Stones
Magic for Carnival Tent and Interior
    Twister TT (LB)
    Valorous for Defiant (LB)
    Rolling On (LB)
DS Dynamic Skinny Jeans and Blouse for K4 (LB)

Luci - he has bandit in many pulls, I remember one with several environments where I had him sitting infront of the Police in the interview room being showed the pictures of his wrong doings caught in CCTV ;-)

  • Wouldn't you know -- a new RRRR is announced, and I brought the wrong damn computer to work!

This is my 'writing' machine, as opposed to my 'graphic and other arts' system, the one with my content library on it.  I have another system, my 'development' machine (or, as I like to call it, my 'Yeah, I'm compensating; what's your point?' system).  I do have a USB drive with a copy of my content libraries, that I have for the express purpose sharing my content among all three systems -- I have Poser and DAZ Studio installed on all of them; sadly, it's in the case with the 'graphic-et-cetera' machine (I had been meaning to sync the drive with my content library, but have not yet gotten around to it, and is seriously out of date).

There's also the fact that I have been on a bit of a 'buying binge' here at DAZ lately -- curse you, DAZ, with your damn-near-daily sales and promotions and new product releases! -- which means that my official RRRR content spreadsheet is also seriously out of date.

So, it's going to be a day or two before I can jump in, but I fully intend to be more engaged, and more involved, than I have been for the last couple of incarnations of the RRRR.

Because, as Montaigne so famously said, "I have to follow them; I'm their leader."

This ought to be fun!  Great idea Ken and Totte!  So I did my first pull, looked at my list and thought, "I don't remember buying any of this."  Seems like I'm starting out stupid!  lol cheeky

    First pull:

2273 - The Kings Chamber Expansion Pack 1

    2506 - M4 Hand Poses

      569 - Nybras

    1925 - Under Attack for V4M4

Oh, God, do I know that scenario!

I pull something, and the first question that pops into my mind is,'When did I buy this?'  And the second is, 'Why did I buy this!?'

(The first question can always be answered by checking the order history; the second....  All I can suggest is to ask your therapist for permission to browse her notes.)

Have never taken part in one of these contests, but have seen a few entries floating about deviantArt. The idea of throwing a bunch of random content together to creat a story is a cool idea, so I thought I'd give it a go. I didn't having anything pressing to do today so I sat down and did a piece end-to-end and had a blast. The rules seem pretty loose as long as you put the randomly selected content in a focal position, still I hope this one is safely within the spirit of the contest.

    My random goodies:

    13275 - Pin Up Poses for V5
    17492 - Logan
    8591 - Streets of Asia
    13827 - Road Roller

Pretty sweet, right? :D I did end up including a reasonable chunk of other content, but I felt I needed to add context. At first I had a render with just Logan (guy posing) and angry driver guy (along with the necesary content). That's when I realised the plot was too vague. So, I rendered off Blake (laughing girl). Then I realised there wasn't really any consequences for all this foolery, so then I rendered off Colin (falling guy). Anyway, this is what happens when you drink and prank. It all ends up on YouTube :D

Hey, Ken Obanion, I'm glad you will be around more. It's not the the same here without you. I love that quip - perfect! laugh

Yes, Totte, I will have to keep my "mug mug" close to my mouth for Tom's adventure as well. Haha. cheeky

Hi, Jim (aka Jim-Zombie.) Good to see you here! I can see by your first render that you you fit in here. (Is that a compliment? I think so.) wink

emsim, I know what you mean also about wondering what the heck something is that you bought. Mostly for me it is the freebies that plague me. I take everything that DAZ gives away and put them in my runtime.

  • This sounds like fun, and its a pretty good way to challenge a lazy brain into getting off its butt and flexing its muscels (I probably won't try rendering that image).

    130 Faery Fae Poses

    106 Deco Club Exterior

    275 Olympia 6

    338 Steam Cowboy

    I don't know if I'm that funny.

Technically, I'm not entirely ready for this, but I'll update the spreadsheet over the long Labor Day weekend (and download another three days' worth of "binge buying" as well).  I just don't want to wait any longer!

    So, here's my first pull:

1106 - Expressive Drama Hands to Head
1618 - If You Build It - Picket Fence
2243 - Multiplane Cyclorama (In the immortal words of John McEnroe, "You can NOT be serious!")
    419 - Caligo Fanum

Hmm....  Thank goodness I'm at the bar right now!  This looks like a three-olive cogitation!

Maybe four.  'Cause right now..., I got nothin'!

(EDIT: Corrected the misspelling of John McEnroe's name.  I hate it when people misspell my name, and I assume that everyone else feels pretty much the same.  And that guy has a temper that is downright legendary!)

Finally got my act together and did my first pull:

624 = Winter Kingdom: Castle Ruins
    2487 = Princess of Atlantis
2109 = Everyday Wardrobe for Genesis 2 Female(s) Jeans and Shirt
    2885 = LoREZ Donkey
    (LB) 1544 = Yamaki GTX-R Textures

I had to make a replacement to one of the items I pulled - DS Dynamic Skinny Jeans and Blouse for K4 (LB). It is at least half broken - when I load a subset it is in my screen goes black and it takes a very long time to load. It will only get worse when I save it in the large scene. Also it should work on Genesis but doesn't unless default pose is used. It has been booted from my runtime. Its replacement is Leather and Fur Iray Shaders.
