    Cowboy Fairies Won't You Come Out Tonight?

    "Hey you guys! Watch me bean that leaping.. leper.. lepord-doctorist right in the haid!", said Dixie, while the somewhat less drunk Callahan Boys watched with a mix of shock and awe. Lepidopterists and faires just don't mix.

    My pull was:

    Faery Fae Poses

    Deco Club Exterior

    Olympia 6

    Steam Cowboy

    And I used the Leather and Fur Iray Shader on Dixie's coat, her outfit being the Piratess for Genesis 2 females. The wings are from the Cicada. The jug is from Shanty Town prop set. I customized the signage on the Deco Club Exterior. I only modified the hand postures on the fairies, otherwise each one has a Faery Fae pose. Rendered in Iray.

    Any critique is more than welcome. I'm getting a handle on how to use the software, now I just have to remember my placement and color theory and stuff.

    Ooooh, that is helpful. I didn't remember that Buffalo Bill took the show to London.( I Googled this and it toured all over Europe.) This makes me think of the 1976 movie Buffalo Bill and the Indians, or Sitting Bull's History Lesson. It was sad and funny and all kinds of stupid.

    How could you not want cats. Cats that show up and do anything at all other than sleep, fight, skulk away is a win and a draw :) Nice character interactions and posing.

    I'm not going to pretend to know what this means, but you've got awesome composition and character expressions going on.

     

    @Sasje - Great framing and render. Looks very natural, or at least as natural as magic can :)

    Got around to doing a second draw, but have to admit I have little idea of what I'm going to do now :) The last draw basically assembled and rendered itself.

    Still lurking and avoiding actually doing anything, so thought I'd check out the competition so far:

    @ Jim #1 - love your poseur pose (for the man in the hat) it's so incongruous - nice render too. (And welcome to the mayhem)
    @ luci45 #1 - another great start - so much going on there.
    @ Joe Webb #1 - cowboy fairies? That's a new one! Nice idea (and welcome to you, too) PS I loved your brains-on-legs render too.
    @ Sasje #1 - oh that's pretty - really nicely done.

    Yay!  Most excellent theme!  Put me down for my usual $20 GC.  I need to update my database before I can pull. 

    Not sure how much I'll get done this month -- my weding is on 10/2.  At least I have a good excuse to not finish renders this time!

    Yes -- on both counts!  I'm a lady caribou (doe, a deer, a female deer?) and I will NOT let my fiance near Totte before the wedding.  Because if I visualize such an event, I can hear "Hold my beer and watch this" echoing in my head.  Repeatedly.

    Thanks Jim, those brains are getting fired up. And with my googling powers I looked up butterfly collector; lepidopterist (and I totally did not have to check three times to make sure I spelled that right). Kyoto Kid, you go with what the cards (or random number generator) gives ya.

    I like this idea.  This has really been a very stupid summer.  On the verge of being super-stupid, even.

    So I am reviewing, updating, and cleaning up my spreadsheet and I have a question.  Currenlty, I have any product with "pose" or "poses" in the title excluded from selection.  But I noticed one or two entries above with poses.  Is there a generally accepted feeling that poses products should be eligible for selection, or is that "up to the artist"?  Thanks!
