Spent the summer away from DAZ shopping and rendering only to return to a failing computer. I'm in the process of migrating to a new computer with all the headaches that seems to have in store, like not being able to locate a single one of my installed plugins... However, I did go crazy shopping the PA sale, to make up for summer I guess...
Tried some new things last night. Here is BJ's Akki in SY's rags sitting at this cute little rustic well vignette I picked up yesterday.
Akki at the Well
IT Level 1 - Phone Support
I used bluejaunte's new Akki character.
The goal was to create something that looked as much like a real-life casual snapshot at work as I could.
Bravo. I 1020% wore that exact expression multiple times a day when I was doing the phone support part of my last job.
Lovely render, SapphireBlue! And nice one too, Olo_Ordinaire!
.
Seriously nice atmosphere here, a pleasure to look at! Did you use any special lighting set that you would care to share? - The rustic well vignette made me all nostalgic, it was one of the very first sets I bought a few years ago when returning to 3d. It's really holding up well I think, and you're showcasing its potential to great effect.
Thanks joanna and SilverGirl!
Thank you joanna! Thank you acb, I appreciate it! Yes, thankfully I remember enough, though I do have to scratch my head about where to find some things...
Thanks so much, tsroemi! Yes, that rustic well vignette is a lovely cozy set.
So I used one of Dimension Theory's skies of twilight HDRI for a low/darker fill light. The bulk of the lighting comes from The Philosopher's Godrays, the dispersive array option, with one of the dust options. Unfortunately, I didn't pay that close attention since this was meant to be quick, and I didn't adjust it enough, so you can see some of the planes cutting through the objects in the scene...
A narrower DOF ads more magic to the rays and lighting. Then it's easier to finetune the scene some more using the Rendering tab's Editor>Tone Mapping section. I tweak colors by increasing saturation a bit, reducing gamma, changing the white point to get a warmer color, and adding a tiny vignette. I don't find the bloom filter easy to fine tune within DAZ, so I added a bit of bloom and grain in post, as well as a light touch of Ron's bokeh.
"Wear and Tear"
Using a few of the items I just picked up in the last few days (and a bunch of grunge, dirt and aging stuff that I've had for awhile).

Also, a cruel abuse of parts of the skin from https://www.daz3d.com/ems3d-brixim-tinkerbit-hd-for-genesis-9 that I'm sure the PA didn't intend.
"Where Is Everyone?"
I love this new DS Grace Yacht, even though you can barely see it in this version of the scene.

Wow, very impressive!
acb Omg, I LOVE it!! Hahaha. Just hysterical. The render is fantastic, but oh, the idea and its execution!!
I love everything about this. Everything.
Awesome in every way! Posing, expressions, colors, composition, and the fun concept behind it all. :)
The Hunter
I could not not get CC Talan, so here it is. Other, non-new items in the gallery.
Gorgeous work joanna!
Just love your incredible postwork in this and renders from the past year.
Thank you for your kind words! I've learned a lot in the past year, and it feels like I made a lot of progress. I also love postwork, especially when the image allows to go overboard with it. xD

I realize that I have more elves:
HLMND Arken and NDFP Anael
and CC Talan
Karmen's Jewels
Recent Purchases: BW Chains Headwear for G9 G8F and G8.1F (bought in the PA Sale), Exquisite Pearl Chokers and Earrings for G9 (bought in the Premier Sale)
Just started using Daz, this is my first render other than the default scene. Still have a lot to learn about posing and how to optimize scenes, ended up taking almost an hour to render on a 4070 ti super.
I love the ambiance of the https://www.daz3d.com/bar-interior scene. Other Items:
The human form of CC Talan with https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-ak-warrior-hair-for-genesis-9-8-and-81 and https://www.daz3d.com/pro-studio-hdr-lighting-system :
The new STF Duskbound set - sort of, anyway.

Been too grumpy and/or busy to post anything here for a bit, but here's a panel from the current story featuring Phx Henry, who arrived at exactly the right moment to get cast as this character.
This entire story is done in a visual style with a lot of grunge on the lens, for various reasons, and I really liked that the grunge, when combined with the fluorescent light fixture over his head, gave him that sort of halo effect in this panel. His right shoulder is clipping through his shirt but it doesn't matter because I knew I was going to crop to use only the right-hand half of the image in the story anyway.
And in case someone asks "How's the grunge done?"

You don't need it often but when you do, it's basically the only thing in the store that does what it does. (And it's on sale right this minute!)

Matt_Castle Oooh, Jade looks absolutely gorgeous in this!
Fantastic render down to those fine hairs in shadow and light. I think she looks ready to take on an army solo.
