I would like to know why this stupid site keeps signing me out. Everyday when I come to the site for the first time, it's "Hello, Please wait while we sign you out".  I never ask to be signed out.I end up fussing around with it for five mintues just trying to get on the site to sign back in.

I think that's a cookie issue. Does it to me too after a number of hours absense.

Thank you all for the comments on the panels I did, it has been a great help. :D I am slowly starting to work on the rest of the stuff I need for my first story. Been getting the crew for my 1st story together as well as a crew that needs no real introduction. Using Nvent3D's Trailblazer uniforms which have helped a great deal. Some of the pictures are from the story including the covers. (Thought I would at least do those before anything else) Even tried my luck trying to make a scene at a club. Two pics are of dancing or at least as it might look in the 23rd. (Used the Tango poses for the close up shot)

That is looking great, and i am glad those uniforms are working for you.

I need an opinion. Take a look at the renders below. Both of these models are supposed to be of the 1701-E bridge. Vanishing Point's does not have any 'Trek specific textures. Sketch-up's does. Vanishing Point's has the right command chairs. Sketch-up's does not- and in neither case do the chairs turn. Sketch-up has the right view screen, Vanishing Point  does not.

If I could lift VP's chairs out and use them in Sketch-up's model, I would- but I don't have the skills or the program to do that.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

Is VP's right for the First Contact version of the viewscreen? they did change it for Insurrection and Nemesis. As far as the chairs, can you just hide the parts of the set you don't want to use and keep the rest in Poser? It'd be the easiest way to do it without excising actual meshes I would think. It'd be a bit of a mess when you're trying to use it though with both loaded. If you want the chairs to turn though you're looking at editing mesh work.

If I remember right, I think Rudua did a model of the command chair from the "D". While it's not exact, with the right color texture, it could pass. I can take ths Sketch-up model into Sketch-up and delete those chairs. I could do the same with the Helm chairs in Sketch-up. VP's helm chairs are seperate pieces.

That would solve the chair problem, with those in the sketchup model you'd have the set the way you want it.

  • mdbruffymdbruffy Posts: 2,345

I'm starting to lean in that direction. I found the chair. It doesn't have the command control panels, but I can add those. I have to make new textures anyway, so I might as well make the panels, too.

Would be easier then having to retexture an entire bridge and ask Rduda to model a new viewscreen, I guess?  ;)

  • mdbruffymdbruffy Posts: 2,345

That's what I'm going to do. I've gone in and deleted the sketch-up chairs and I'm re-adjusting the texture settings. Sketch-up always imports with the highlights set to 100. everything has to be reset to 0.1 to look right. Then I'll start on the chairs.

I'm pretty sure you'll get there, mads.

The command chairs will work. But VP build's all their bridges as "Characters"-  the helm chairs won't seperate from the set. So I'm going to have to build them plus the command panels for the captain's chair.

Hi there's not much in the character work today. I got a couple of pictures working in the TMP era of my story  but I have been working more on the sets and everything. I wanted to share these and show what I have been doing and some shots of the Khambatta herself (still fleshing out the details there too)  Some of the pics are grainy I apologize for that. Again thanks goes out to Madison Bruffy for the TMP sets made available. Nvent 3d for the uniforms being used and Greywolf Starkiller for his Starship set.

sasuraibito it's all looking good. Glad the sets are working out for you.

  • nightwolf1982nightwolf1982 Posts: 1,239

Lookin' good, sasuraibito, but one thing:  The registries on the underside of the saucer on the Khambatta should follow the curve of the hull. as they are now, they look like last minute add-ons rather than official ship's markings.

The Khambatta is still a work in progress. I have been still working on the registry and adding some more detail to the ship itself. The bottom lettering was a test shot just to get an idea of how I want to put it. Still debating what lettering style they use with the registry something more along the lines of phase 2 and the original series or the motion picture era

Anyone have any suggestions short of taking a year off to learn a new modeling program? The yellow one is Ruda's from several years ago. The purple one is his with my add-ons and some scale adjustments.

The control panels I can make. It's the chair itself that's beyond me.

Not all that different from the one I made a few weeks back  ( http://www.sharecg.com/v/80360/view/5/3D-Model/Simple-command-chair )

You want me to take a stab at it, Mads?

  • mdbruffymdbruffy Posts: 2,345

If you want to try, I'd appreciate it. I'll give the other chairs a try. See what I can do with them.
