Does it not? I'm on Windows and it works here.

Download button doesn't work on my computer, can't even find it in the Download Manager.

That's odd. I would file a support ticket. Whether it works on your modern Mac or not, it should still download.

Just as a bit of troubleshooting - try opening DIM and check the Installed tab and do a search for Carrara.

Still doesn't explain not allowing you to download directly from your account. I assume you're logged into the right account or you wouldn't even see it in your account library.

I just checked and both Windows and Mac versions are available for download in my account library - using Chrome - selecting Carrara 8.5 Pro - also must download and install Carrara 8.5 (not Pro) as that contains the main program.

With the Content, you'll need the Carrara 8 Native Content for sure. That contains the browser, wizards, and all that stuff. The 8.5 content downloads are only the 8.5 updates.

I sure hope you get this figured out. Not being able to even download them... I'm not computer guru, but that sounds like the problem is with your browser. But DIM also? Maybe the new Mac blocks you from something? Clueless = me!

one of our many Mac users hopefully will pipe in, I know there are issues

Dart, you and I on Windows better not get too smug, we are only ever one Microsoft Update away from us being screwed too as DAZ no longer does maintenance updates on Carrara devil

I'm seriously considering getting a new, older-gen PC just to use for Carrara and DS/VWD, as VWD development seems to have been abandoned as well. Maybe a refurbished HP Z840?

Well, I figured out how to download it, but it won't open the install package.

Well, I figured out how to download it, but it won't open the install package.

I have a new MacStudio with the M2 Ultra ARM chip. Carrara doesn't really run on it. It will open, but the screen is completely white and the icons at the top of the page don't show up. I didn't have to download Carrara though. I transferred it from my old machine. I think the installer is still 32-bit and won't run on a new Mab, but I'm not sure. I am using Carrara on my new machine by Virtualizing Windows on it. I created a thread to document what I've been doing.

    I hope it helps.

So does Carrara 8.5 Pro not work on new Macs?

Not really. See this thread https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/660771/carrara-and-mac-with-m2#latest

Has anyone tried Carrara on Linux with Wine?

I have and it worked - I think. I couldn't figure out what to do because the fonts were all wrong so everything was blank.

I wonder if we look at the default font in Carrara Preferences on Windows, then installed the correct font on Linux if it would solve that. I'm fairly certain it should.

I don't know for sure because I am not used to Linux at all, so I have no idea how things should be.

I think it should be Helvetica or Helvetica New, but also Georgia should work but a bit unreadable

Forgive me, but searching this forum seems limited. I know this is an old thread. Is there a concise list for 8.5 Pro features? I saw a lot of figure improvements over 7 and 64 bit, not sure about much else. Does it support GPU processing? Also the beta seems the most current? What did this address? Thanks. OK..... Well I did find more information on features, so I see only CPU support. Seems it works in W11 OK. Guess that leaves questions about the beta. Thanks again.

Probably the closest "Concise Explanation" you can find (that I know of off hand) is on This Promo Page

Under the "Details" heading, they explain the short of it.

Below that in "What's Included and Features", the very top section is New for 8.5 Pro

That said, I'll give you some insight from my end - though I'm not an active user currently, I'll never stop loving Carrara as one of my favorite reasons to fire up a computer!

Carrara 8.5 Pro was ridiculed by many because on the face of it, the whole thing was all about adding support for Genesis - which was later partially updated for Genesis 2.

I was one who really wanted that support - and it really pays off. Not only does it load Genesis figures and their gear straight from the browser, but this also gave it the ability to load DUF files, so nearly any of the models sold at Daz 3D will work - but just know that not everything does work - especially if it is specifically made to utilize features found only in Daz Studio. But this community usually has ways of getting the assets into Carrara.

With the new working-mode avatars for lights, I could never go back after installing Carrara 8.5 Pro beta, back before it was officially released. It just makes everything in Carrara such a smooth working experience, and finally got me to start using more of the different lighting options.

It DOES NOT have GPU support for the native render engine, though there is an Octane plugin through Otoy, and Luxus for Carrara for Luxerender, and Luxuscore is a beta version whose development was dropped and the time limitation withdrawn, so it's free forever.

8.5 has some handy new animation features - namely in the graph editor. There are also some in the menu bar but I never really used those much. The one that I really loved is that when we drag a selection around any key frames, the graph editor shows a light bounding box around them and we can drag that box to scale or move the selection and what they contain - like dragging the top downward will decrease the height of the value, for example. Really handy!

There's actually been a Ton of development. I was in the public beta, and they answered the call for everything they could. They were a diehard team devoted to doing their best to improve this amazing software!

I have a whole bunch of Carrara info available on my site if you care to poke around for anything Carrara: Dartanbeck.com

Thanks very much. Yes, I found your site. I thought there was a lux plugin that was in beta. Lux works pretty well on blender. I find real world users to be a good source of information. So it sounds like the beta is the one to use? Don't really need 2 installs of C8.5 pro. Thanks again.

Looks like the general release is same as beta? .19 or is there another. Just downloaded the installer for no good reason then. Do we need the PostgreSQL CMS?

You would need Postgre if you want your Smart Content to work.

    ha ha

    I read this somewhere

copying or replicating someone else's intelectual Property is also theft but many Artists against Ai have no issues doing just that

calling it FAN ART doesn't legally excuse them

the number of anti Ai artist posting YouTube videos where they nonchalantly draw their interpretation of a well known Anime or game character while preaching their blog is astounding

oh but we drew it ourselves

and realised my avatar was the phantom, so this is one of my three d prints with a halo ;)
