...oy weh, new thread,
...oh geez, been some time. Usually it always happens in the dead of night or early morning hours out here on the west coast when I'm asleep.
...the link in the email was still to the previous one

...guess it's good I didn't decide to rename it The New Year Arrived While I Was Opening Up The Jar Of Gefilte Fish Complaint Thread. ;-)
Sleepy but woke up to drink water to stop coughing
Quote: You get a soldier to help you with electronics projects? Army Corps of Engineers? LOL

I have a soldier but he's Field Artillery and loves blowing up things.
Congrats, KK, on finally getting the thread. It's way past time.
used to have a studio in the same warehouse as the rocketeers club, they blew up a lot of stuff trying to get it to fly
Raising this son was a real blast. :-P
I've always said that if the first son had been like the second, there never would have been a second.
...was in physics and electronics in HS. Learned on the old school stuff. Used to experiment a lot with all sots of fun stuff including Tesla coils.
Interestingly, at the time I was also in a rocketry club. Yeah, we pretty much blew a lot of stuff up on the lunch pad as well as made everyone scatter when a launch went awry and a rocket decided to start looping around in the sky or fly parallel rather than perpendicular to the ground.
About the only "safe and sane" hobby I had back then was RC powered model aircraft and sailplanes.
Used to play a lot with all that stuff too. I recall when I was about 13 years old we tried to make nitroglycerine. We knew what ingredients to use but couldn't find any info about the proportions so it was trial and error. After having mixed the ingredients the first time and waiting for some time, we didn't know if it had worked or not, and got nervous and poured the mixture carefully onto the ground to get rid of it. We gave up trying anymore as we realized it was too dangerous to play with. Many years later I found out that you need to cool it in a bath of icewater when you make it, otherwise the nitration will cause the temperature to rise so much that it will blow up. So I guess we didn't manage to hit the right proportions back then, luckily...
...back then science was fun. Sometimes dangerous, but fun.
I made a version of video phone thingy from Flash Gordon that Ming the Magnificent is always using to call home to Mungo, thought I might share it to see in the the new year. Is a Poser prop, a poser material set for it and the original geometry as an .obj file with MAT zones. The shader for the brass should be easy in Studio, I'll post the Poser network to help get started.
I put the zip (437K) on Dropbox for anyone who wants to download. Phew Dropbox sure has changed! But it seems to work OK despite all the ads.

Can't share the picture of Ming but there is a UV Template for the circular screen to help get started. HNY :)
Yes. Today there's a lot of common chemicals like sulfuric and nitric acid, 35% hydrogene peroxide, etc. which you can't even buy anymore here in Denmark, without a license, because terrorists can use it to make bombs. Don't know how it is in other countries but I imagine it's much the same.
Sorry if I asked before but what is the difference between a cold and a flu?
Symptoms of a cold include:
runny nose – beginning with clear mucus that develops into thicker, green mucus as the cold progresses
blocked nose
sore throat
sneezing
cough
People with a cold may also suffer with a mild fever, earache, tiredness and headache. Symptoms develop over one or two days and gradually get better after a few days. Some colds can last for up to two weeks.
Flu
Flu usually comes on much more quickly than a cold, and symptoms include:
sudden fever of 38-40C (100-104F)
muscle aches and pains
sweating
feeling exhausted and needing to lie down
a dry, chesty cough
headache
A person with flu may also have a runny nose and be prone to sneezing, but these are not usually the defining symptoms of flu.
Flu symptoms appear one to three days after infection and most people recover within a week, although you may feel tired for longer.
Dang, that's pretty cool! :bug:

Complaint: it appears my debug hardware has died, and I'm having a miserable time finding one. Ok, and that means work is now dead in the wate.
Non-complaint: chicken noodle soup! :)
