I am curious to know where this is stated, as I have never seen it so mentioned. And, further more, how is a non PC member is supposed to know what is being offered as a freebie to PC members? The reason for this is that having been registered with this store for 15 years, I have never seen it stated anywhere that I can recall.

Yeah, I´m a bit confused as well. Not too upset because I´d have no use for those markers... but I´d like to at least know these things?

The Daz newsletters feature them, or used to, as "free to PC+ members, free with purchase to nonmembers." If you click on the PC+ banner on the main shop page, it takes you to a page with PC+ benefits, which will include the current weekly and monthly PC+freebies if you haven't purchased them.

Well, I was liking the plants but some complaints got them bumped and now we have been getting these pastel colored material sets for 20 year old My Little Pony & Strawberry Shortcake lookalike themed models for something like 7 or the past 8 weeks. This week we were given magic markers so we could draw our own freebies. laugh

Apart from liking those pastel coloured materials (I do have those Unicorns ...) - it looks like I missed the Magic Markers! They probably were a very time-limited freebie, right?

    wink

They are this week's Platinum Club Freebies, and they're still up:

    https://www.daz3d.com/pro-marker-pens

(But only free for PC members)

For non-members it's free with purchase.

Err... It's been like that for years, so I'm not sure where I got it from initially. I think it used to be listed on PC+ page but I don't see it on current version of the page.

As for where to find them, again IIRC they used to be on PC+ page for non-members too. This category lists current PC+ weekly and monthly freebies: https://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-freebies

Nowadays I am going to this page: https://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-freebies once a week and add the item to my cart. In case I am buying something that week I don't forget to add it. If I don't buy something, it gets deleted from my cart and the new one is added.

That's every character on the page except the bars at the top & bottom that are present on every shop page. There is no mention of non-PC people able to get PC freebies with an additional purchase in that. So, I do hope you can understand why I was unaware of it. DAZ can decide what offers to target at which people, it's their marketing choice, but I do feel that tranparency would be nice. To avoid marketing transparency is also a marketing choice, and I know I can like it or lump it. Feeling as if I'm having to lump it does not engender a warm fuzzy feeling.

    Regards,

    Richard.

Err. Daily e-mail? I think they must be blocked by the Yahoo spam filter... For I've not seen a 'daily', 'weekly' or 'monthly' or any other sort of e-mail since 2005. Ho hum. I thought it was because DAZ was nice & didn't send unwanted e-mails out. laugh. I do get the invoice e-mails, but not marketing type of any sort.

    Regards,

    Richard.

I think I did agree to getting Daz3d emails once upon a time ... very hazy memory.

Just now I was getting the newest mail ... this weeks PC+ Freebie/Free for others when buying a new release:

    https://www.daz3d.com/the-greenwood-vol-1-sycamore-trees

Edited to add: people like you may be the reason for that annoying "Join the community" advertising ... not that you are at fault, just that they found that there are more customers who don't get their newsletter.

Man... are you guys telling me that PC+ freebies are always free with purchase for non members? crying

Well, at least I know now.

Also... where does one sign up for the newsletter? I´m looking for it and I can´t find it!

  • Well, I looked for an answer in DAZ's Thesaurus:

    "Weekly" - the same as "DAZ soon";

"Soon" - the same as "DAZ weekly".

It´s true that the few PC+ freebies I did get as a non-member (because it was explicitely advertised) are items I have little to no use for. Not too upset about it.

Um, technically everything you have ever bought was "free with purchase." It is an oxymoronic phrase. And just a moronic one. :)

It's an extra item, free when you purchase a non-free item.

In other words, a Bonus item (Not free)

Same, I've never been disappointed to receive a plant of some kind. My desire for 3D plants is art imitating life.

I keep my fingers crossed that @MartinJFrost will maybe bless us with some forest mushrooms, too! I would love an assortment of shelf fungi that I could place on trees of my choosing.

I would like cabbage palms in various stages of maturity (important it's like Florida's, GA's SC's, ...) and majestically huge and droppy live oak or is it pin oak, from the same area, draped heavily with spanish moss.

Yeah, people not from the south don't realize Florida has real trees too, it just that they're covered with droopy Spanish Moss and become just part of the Florida backdrop.  Live Oak trees get HUGE.  I lived in a house where one branch of the tree spread out horizontally over the whole length of the house (and it was a big, long ranch style house) and the branch was as big around as the base of the trunk of a lot of trees in the north.  And the other main branch covered the neighbor's house another long ranch style house.surprise  One drawback to them is their leaves.  Their leaves are little ovals and like to wander into house gutters and die there.  Their rotting bodies make quite a mess.frown  Nasty job cleaning them out.no

It's "ad-speak", which is defined as "the opposite of what the average person accepts as reality..."

I really wish somebody at DAZ would offer a model of them  They are beautiful and would be great for southern plantation renders.

"Bi-weekly Freebies Daz drops new items bi-weekly for members that are totally FREE"

I haven't had a Freebie for weeks now.  Even when they do change them, they are always old things that have been offered as freebies many times already.

  • ShelLuserShelLuser Posts: 749

It's ironic that this thread started in 2015 because in my opinion things were a lot better back then. You actually got freebies which were useful. Not just that: - on their own -. I still remeber getting an awesome iron gate / fence which was really nice, I believe you also got some huge chess pieces back then (but I could be mistaken!).

Anyway, fast forward to here and now and most you get is stuff which can only be used if you already own other stuff. Which I think is hardly as good as things were back then. I also stopped looking.

I don't think so ... because I am one of those strange persons that put everything in their cart (even textures for outfits I don't own) since years. And I am getting new ones every time when they change. So they are not always old things offered before.

It's more of a metaphorical quantum physics sorta "weekly", not necessarily a weekly, "weekly"... people read "weekly" and think that means every week, or every other week, or every other, other week... but you shouldn't think of it as the narrowly defined human concept of a week... time is just a construct of humanity's limited ability to experience time through a multidimensional experience... there are elementary particles that are not subject to the concept of time as we know it and to them a "week" or any unit of time is meaningless... DAZ is merely trying to get us to think on quantum level... to live like quantum particle where time is inconsequential and a infinity is but a week, yet nothing at all.

    Blew yer' mind... right?

Ok... admittedly... for that to have its full effect, you really have to be a little stoned...

But just keep that in mind for when you are and you'll be like "Wow... I can really taste the all colors of what he means".

Then general consensus for the topic at hand would be accepted in the form of weekly , meaning updated weekly.   Since that isn't the case as it seems it is more like monthly, so that is what the complaint is about and from a commercial point of view, it is misleading.

Well - this conversation is actually about two different forms of weekly freebies. Daz is good at confusing us.

One form of weekly freebies is (usually) bi-weekly and has obviously sometimes slipped from the mind of the people who are responsible to put them up. (Maybe they did smoke something? LOL)

    https://www.daz3d.com/free-3d-models

The other form is really weekly, but you have to buy something to get that item free.
