When is the search function of the store going to be fixed? For example, let's say you wanted to search for all products you could use for a certain setting or time period, in this example Egyptian, you'd search the word "Egypt". You used to get all items with this word not only in the product name but also any other item that would be related that either had the word in the description or somewhere else in the ad (were there tags too in the previous store version?). Now you search Egypt and even the most recent products that are obviously Egypt themed don't come up in the results, only the products with your search term in the PRODUCT TITLE show. eg: dforce Menhet, dforce Queen of the Nile which are obviousy Egyptian theme don't come up in these search results but they would have in the older store version. That's many, many products that most buyers will never find unless they search for the exact word that's in the product title only. Try this yourself for any time period or any theme, (Roman, Steampunk, Tropical, Space, Arabian, Viking, Barbarian, Wizard, Modern city, etc)you'll see what I mean about the greatly diminished results on the Daz store then the many extra results you can get through google and image search.
I've started using google search and image search to find products that the Daz store search itself won't find, but this leads to another problem, some of the links that come up lead to pirate sites. Now I stay away from them for many reasons but I'm sure there are many that will take the risk or may not even realise they are pirate sites and download form there anyway. This can only hurt PA's from the extra sales they could have had and hurt buyers if they download one of these products (not realizing its a pirate site) and get a computer breaking virus. However, if they're aware its a pirate site then they deserve what they get lol. But even pirate sites aside, I hope you see the point I'm making, the search function has taken a massive step backwards and it can only be hurting Daz, its content creators and its customers in its current limited state. How can customers buy what they can't find?
I already submitted the list in a help request. I didn't verify every one, but I did spot check and found no false positives.
Edit: I removed memberships and gift cards from the list before I submitted it.
Did you notice if they were associated with particular orders? All the failed items I found were from two orders, and neither order was accessible from the Orders page. Since the Show Order link in DIM can't access them either, I had to get their number and date, and zero in on each on the Orders page. I had to confirm the contents of the orders from the Order Confirmation e-mail, and all items on the two orders were not accessible in the Product Library. What I find disturbing is that at least one of those orders was accessible a few weeks ago. I hope this doesn't turn into a game of Whack-a-Mole, with random Orders dropping out, then coming back, only to lose others later.
OK, here's an update with a manual double check solution, it's actually pretty fast and easy to use:
https://3dcontentmanagers.com/software/freeware/pls-daz/updates/pls-daz-1001.zip
If you already have it installed, overwrite the existing files with the updated files. You need to have scanned your library and have the resulting "product_errors_csv.txt" in the Data folder, before using the checker.
1. when you run the program you'll see a new Check Results Manually button on the login page, click that to open the Check Results window.
2. when the product library has loaded, select a product on the Product Library list (left pane / browser) that loads correctly. Now copy the SKU from that product into the Control Page SKU field.
3. click on the product on top of the list on the right pane, where all the bad product pages from the library scan are listed.
Now you can use the Arrow Down key (or Arrow Up if needed) to scroll down/up through the products, checking them one by one to see if they load or not. When you see the yellow OK at the bottom of the list after selecting a product it means that page load has completed, and if it still swirls it can be considered a bad page (though you might want to stay a couple of seconds more on each page to be sure).
The Left Arrow key will load the control page, you can use that at any time to ensure that the library/server is still "alive and well", while checking the pages. I'll see if I can make an update that makes it easy to remove any pages that should be wrongly list as bad, from the report.
Another update:
https://3dcontentmanagers.com/software/freeware/pls-daz/updates/pls-daz-1002.zip
You can see the actual URL of the library page loaded on the Check Results page now.
Well, I did check all of my 48 nonloading products manually by filtering for the name in the product library before submitting them.
But I want to thank you very, very much for your helpful scripts (and free too!).
By the way, I started going through my orders and clicking on each product in that order to go to the product library page.
Up to now I only found one product without downloads (Space Relic) and reported it and it is fixed today ... so yay! Sometimes tickets get resolved fast.
No answer on my 48 swirlies ...
66 items with an error - not too bad... Now chase up the order numbers.
My antivirus blocked it.
My antivirus (Bitdefender) threw a "Stop! Are you sure?" thingie, but I told it that I am sure, I know the danger, it is OK ... and was able to use it.
I don't want to look like a paranoid... But it's safe to use it? I mean, it's a bit uncomfortable put my account in there.
I don't know what Space Relic did before, but the section with the download links ends up below the product list in an area that is not refreshed when you select another product. It stays and stacks up one more set if you go back and select it again. There was another product that did the same (can't remember which, didn't take note), so there are still some formatting errors either in the database or the page template.
Yes, sorry for the confusion. I meant your LIST was unique to you. I'd already submitted a ticket for an entire cluster of Ron's brushes. And it does seem the black swirlies in the Product Library are in clusters, at least for me. Mine were Ron's Flames, Suds, Atmospheric Bundle, Bokehs, Steam and Smoke, Condensation, Hydro Explosion, Magical Snow, Particles, Rain, Concrete and Texture Brushes, Digital Engery, and Waves. The rest of Ron's were there.
You can always update your ticket if you want, but if you still have the CSV report you can doublecheck it very easily in the latest version first, I'd guess it's OK..
I ran the whole check again with version 2 and got the same result, so I think the list is accurate.
It's based on IE (Internet Explorer), it uses a clone of the IE on your system to log in and collect data, and it has the same security settings and safety as the IE version on your system. So technically and security wise it's no different than browsing your account using IE. So your login is safe and encrypted by the IE clone, there's no way for the program to capture it (at least not one that I know of). The data it collects from your account can theoretically be captured, but that will always be the case with programs like this, any program with online access can theoretically steal data from you in one context or another.
As for viruses I scan my apps at virustotal.com whenever I find it necessary, before releasing them, and include a link with the results with the download link, first the "raw" compiled version, and then after obfuscation (which protects the code from being stolen). Microsoft has made it a piece of cake to steal the code from NET apps, so obfuscation (encryption) is the only way to protect it somewhat. Unfortunately some virus scanners cry wolf whenever they encounter an obfuscated app, to be on the safe side (viruses are usually obfuscated too), which is an annoying problem for software developers in general. The obfuscator I use is an expensive professional tool from a well reputated company, so it's very unlikely that it will mess with the apps or infect the apps with anything.
I've just scanned the latest version 1.002 at virustotal.com, you can see the results here (with only 3 detections or less a program is generally considered safe because they most likely are false positives):
Before obfuscation: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/f7d97d916eb1106e76d4ec4642edc7e4a6c68822ba4506ebb1fd65abc7653158/detection
After obfuscation: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/36d6470d4877e84a08ded8cb2c4d81efa35f4c13f5c2793727ef1ec5dcdc2674/detection
(you can upload the .exe file to virustotal.com to confirm the scan, it will show you the same page because the file already has been scanned)
OK, sounds good. I the only one I'm aware of that who has got an unusual result is @namffuak, but he hasn't said anything since he reported that.
Yes, looks like the clusters represent products from different orders. Haven't has time to check that for my own 411 bad pages yet though.
Can't add anything to my wishlist, it keeps saying I need to be logged in even though I am logged in and have logged in and out again, reset browser, connections, pretty much every "turn it off, turn it back on again" trick in the book. Anyone else with this issue or just me?
Adding to wishlist is one of the buggy things, like logging in. The current workaround is to add the item to your cart, and then move it to your wishlist.
Most probably this has been mentioned before. In the library the image of the product leads to the Oops page, the "View Product Page" link works. Or is the image link a link for a downloader, I don't use?
Is the free item for today using code "DAZ-CHRISTMAS" not working if we already got a free item yesterday?
Yes, that is correct. It is one use only; so, if you used it yesterday it is not useable again today.
Thank you for the response, Charlie. I couldn't remember if the code was the same as yesterday or not.
...interesting so what date did the "Open-Gift" coupon come out as that is the last coupon code I used.
December 25 ... it was below the Free holiday item

Be fast, before the shop changes ...
Edited to add: looks like it is still on today for those that didn't use it before.
...tried the "Daz-Christmas" code and it was rejected.
The only free item on my order list for the 25th was Iray GraffitWorx with the "Open-Gift" coupon, so I don't understand why the new one doesn't work (didn't pick up the daily freebie because it is an animation file). The item I just tried to get is the Rough Stone Shader Presets which is on the list of available products, but when I paste the code in and click "Apply" I get the "Coupon code is not valid" error. I made sure there are no leading or trailing spaces when I pasted the code in. Even manually entering it didn't work.
You did copy/paste? Because you wrote "Daz-Christmas" - and the code is all in capitals ...
...I cut and pasted directly from your post. I just have a long running habit of not using all caps when composing emails or on messager boards, forums, and social media (save for acronyms and technical/scientific/medical terms that use all upper case).
I typed it and that worked OK.
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With Daz a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.
