Is that not what I said? Gift cards are counted when they are purchased instead of when the credit is used? I included the second part intentionally.

I think the point so many people are trying to make is they took Daz up on the offer to stock up on credit the day before the sale started, specifically to use during the PA Festival, but that purchase isn't being counted as supporting the PA Festival when in fact it very much was/is in support of the PAs and this event sale. Because Daz marketed the discounted cards specifically to stock up on credit for the PA sale, imo, it really should have been counted when determining thank you coupon discounts. And I think it's very easy to see why those people are upset at being excluded.

Store credit is money that can be used to buy anything except GC! Why so? Is that cheating?

Say you purchase a $100 Gift Card for $80. Now you use $80 of store credit to purchase another $100 GC. You would then have $120 in store credit for the initial investment of $80. "Lather, Rinse, Repeat."

So, yeah, it would be a form of cheating.

    [...]

And counting "real" money and credit as different is just bizarre. Money's fungible. The only difference is that Daz credit is money that's essentially already committed to Daz ... but the "real" money was still spent by a customer at some point! I mean, isn't the entire point of gift card sales to encourage people to BUY credit?

At this point, it all just leaves me scratching my head in bewilderment.

This, the post above mine at the time, is what I was responding to. I know what people are saying. Which is why I included the rest of my comment about what the issue is and a possible resolution (only count when credit is used for these promotions, not when it is bought). Which you are both ignoring.

This "Thank you" sale is getting ridiculous. :-/

They should have at least included the "Buy your Gift Card now! Get ready for the PA sale!" day 0 spending.

I think this whole PA sale is ridiculous. The discounts are pretty ordinary, with just 40% to 50% off, and very occasionally a little higher with coupons. These are discounts available any time during the year, so they are nothing special. I bought a $500 gift card before the sale and I've only used a little of it to get some wishlisted stuff that, with coupons were at 65% to 72% off. Again, that can happen any time through the year.

These sales are getting more and more miserly, thanks to Daz3d's new management, which is fine for them, but I'm not buying into it. My PC membership expires next March, and I'm not renewing; Prime membership at Rendo is offering MUCH better sales right now... And let's see what the coming PC sale offers frown

I agree that the 50% off is not something I would normally go for. On special days (coupon, etc.), I got stuff at 60% off--nothing extraordinary, but I had the money put aside for this period, so might as well buy them now.

Daz has new management? Wow, didn't know that. Is there any place we can read about this?

Yea I must have missed that memo too ;)

The management change was not that recent, I suppose, but the changes happened over the last few years - which is recent to me. And though Daz keeps its business dealings out of public eye, the information is available with a little searching of the parent company, which I will not share in a public forum, because that's their business and their right, as it is all normal business practice and above board. If you need to know more, then get in touch with Daz3d's offices.

As I said, normal business practice, but I don't have to like how it affects the store side of things.

Thanks for the explanation. I don't want to dig around. I was curious because I really liked the old Daz videos and photos of staff. It made the company "personal." I mean, people who frequent the forums spend half their day on the Daz site :))) so it's nice to have some kind of personal connection, be it with Daz itself, with PAs, or with fellow forum members.

  • WOW! The title of today's daily email that I got is "Last Day to Use your Thank You Coupons". While I got a measly 7% after spending nearly $600 (because all but $49 was in store credit purchased before the sale) I really don't care anymore. There are some good sales at that other store and I can spend my money there. I wonder if the people who didn't get any coupon at all still got the daily email with the same title.

    Yep, we did. :-/

  • Thanks Daz for the super banner discounts.  I thinks I got some kind of extra discount practically every day of this sale.  Thanks for appreciating all the money I spend here

Yes, I got it too.  If I wasn't subscribed to this thread I would have had no idea what these emails were about.  frown
I agree with Dragonfly_2004's comment above that it isn't much of a sale.  Everything I've bought was on flash sales or PC items, for a total of $27.71, which was paid for in store credit.
The purpose of sales and rewards is to encourage people to part with money they wouln't otherwise spend at an establishment, and this one didn't do it for me..

The sales page seems to indicate that all Daz Originals receive the 40% discount but the discount is not shown in the store ( and also not in the cart if I put the item into it). Is that an error?

To avoid stacking. Say you bought a CG for 15% off, then you use that credit to buy another GC for 20%. You would be stacking those discounts.
  • I got an email saying "Last Day to Use Your Thank You Coupons - Log In for Details" but I have not gotten a coupon.  I feel very left out crying.  I check my messages and such daily.  My friends have been getting offers constantly and I have not.  I am beginning to wonder since I got this email if something is wrong.  Any thoughts.  Thank you.

Everyone got the same email, even if they don't actually have a reward coupon. Read the last couple of posts for our current rant. :D

  • LOL. I've been logging in and going, "Well, this sale must be broke."

Nope. Daz has just been telling me, "Thanks for NOTHING!"

  • I agree with all the comments above. This sale was another where I bought a $200 gift card, and it has lasted me all month - and though there were a couple of good days, it was nothing like in years before. A management change explains a lot of it - and I also did not renew my PC+ membership, and won't, going forward - based on the last several rounds of sales.

I'll have to look at the other store if they're actually offering better sales than DAZ. That would be a switch - but DAZ has gotten more expensive, and if the other guys have stayed the same, that might be enough to shift the balance on who is more affordable. I've got a lot on my Wishlist over there I've ignored because the prices here were consistently superior. Maybe it is time to catch up and whittle down *that* Wishlist instead of the one here.

It is interesting to see a lot of familiar old time faces all making the same complaint here, though. That can't be a good omen for DAZ.

If I had closed that "thank you" banner at the top, how do I get it back again to get the code?

Click the little blue person icon at top-right>Messages, it will be in one of those tabs - usually the middle one, Exclusive Offers.

    I've noticed the same issue

  • I am confused. Does this mean that the pc+ anniversary sale begins tomorrow? And what exactly can we expect from that sale? Thanks.
