It's not that the PA sale is getting more miserly; it's that the rest of the sales through the year are now just as good, so this one is nothing special by comparison. I've been here long enough to remember when the ONE DAY at the end of the PA sale when EVERYONE was 50% off was a very big deal, because there were some artists whose products were never discounted at all during the rest of the year.
Perhaps it was meant as incentive for registered customers who didn't show any spending to check out the sale.
Yep, it feels like once they have got your money they don't care about you anymore. Well, I'm going to hold onto my remaining credit until I really need it and then once it is gone there will be no more purchases by me.
Nothing significant but it looks like the design of the Platinum Club banner ad has changed. Maybe that triggered it.
I'm thinking that's the case.
Dangit. Did anyone else mistake the new Plat club banner for a flash sale? I got all excited thinking they were giving us an extra 30% off daz originals and 70% off PC+ items, and only figured out what was happening after clicking it three times and ending up at the PC+ sign-up page each time.
Me neither.
But at least I'm in good company.
I agree.
All things are relative. 50% off products is a good discount. If you walk into a store IRL and see something you need at 50% off, you do a mental happy dance! You were going to buy it anyway, if not today then soon, but at that price, you're buying today! Higher discounts than that, in a "brick and mortar," usually mean a product is on clearance and/or has been discontinued.
But here on Daz, in between event sales, Daz has been discounting products as much as 80%, and if you're a PC member, that's up to 80% stacking with your 30% member discount. (Because most of the time, those really high discounts are on Daz Originals, which are solely owned by Daz.) Flash sales and Blink sales with vendor products usually go at 50% to 60%, occasionally higher. Because of the many opportunities to buy content at such huge discounts, we have been trained, (just like Pavlov's dogs, actually,) to wait for the bigger discounts.
And when a sales event like the PA Festival comes along, we see 40% and 50% and we don't get excited because we know later we're going to see 60%, 70% and even 80%.
The problem with that is we have to wait many months to see those higher discounts on the products being released during the event sale. There are products being released that I don't want to wait six months to use, products that I'd buy when released at the 30% intro discount, so I feel like 40% or 50% is a gift. There are many Daz customers who feel the same way about other products and/or vendors.
With the launch of D 4.12: What is NVIDIA RTX Studio Products? where to find them?
Not sure if this is a sale error and anyway yesterday's sale is over. I was thinking of getting this:
https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-royal-fantasy-outfit-for-genesis-8-males
The textures were in the best sellers, but the main outfit wasn't, so I didn't. The main outfit was at full price. Today the main outfit is included in 'all back on sale' sale, and I assume if the textures were best sellers, the main outfit must have been too - however the price is reported on the page as 100%, though it reduces correctly in the basket. This may have been the case yesterday as well, so there may be something odd about it which makes it display incorrectly.
I'm pretty sure RTX are just the current generation of NVIDIA graphic cards?
Both outfit and textures show at 40% off for me now.
Now showing for me as well: because of yesterday I wondered if there was something more to it. After all, if textures sell well, presumably the outfit has to sell even better.
It is a line of specially built Laptop computers built around the Nvidia RTX graphics architecture. I believe at this point Nvidia's site is the only place they're available https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/design-visualization/creators/laptops/
Yes, RTX cores are on the mid- to upper-level 20x0 cards, and allow for faster rendering now that DS has a version of Iray that supports them - how much faster depends on the scene but it seems to be generally a useful though not earth-shaking change.
Thanks for the info. Wow! That is so advance tech, makes my laptop so obsolete. I only have 1060 gpu.
It looks like there is no special PA festival pricing on the new Face Transfer Tool Unlimited; just the standard 30% new release and 30% DO PC+ discounts Is that what is intentional or should the 40% festval new release apply?
Today's Daz Original "Blue-Suede" coupon on the main page is great. Thank you Daz! :-D
Definitely helpful for finally snagging a couple pro bundles and some of the other items I've been eyeing.
(Wanted to chime in with when a sale is appreciated, and not just the complaints). :-)
Yeah, that coupon is nice... too bad I've spend all of the $ 200.- giftcard money I put aside at the start of the PA festival for Flashsales and stuff already - had I known that there will be a coupon with such a valuable percentage coming, I would have kept my money...
But we live and learn - next PA festival will see me spending less until I can be sure not to miss the chance to use a coupon like this again
Well, the server went down and the prices aren't what they were earlier, so I'm wondering if that's why it went poof for awhile with the 503 no server error.
The PC+ banner page https://www.daz3d.com/platinum-club-plus#releases is really messed up for me. The thumbnails for new release and 60% off are not correct. The freebie has nothing shown, either.
Same for me Barbult, and the site has been down a couple of times for me the last few hours. Cloudflare living its own life I suppose lol
Well, clearly the site isn't up to handling the traffic today, as I've now had multiple 404 pages, it took me three attempts to actually get an order through, and now DIM won't log in to let me download anything. It took a real battle to get a cart actually accepted in order to try to capitalise on the discounts. I'm sure others will have failed and will be sending angry messages to CS in the near future.
Not very impressive, Daz.
Out of curiosity, did you get overcharged? I've been trying to checkout but since I'm getting errors all-around have decided to not pull the trigger yet (don't want to get charged full price by paypal).
https://www.daz3d.com/3rfd-suit-for-genesis-8-female is not getting the extra PC+ discount
For me (since I don't know what Matt_Castle did) I made my purchase before the server started having issues, but I got a gift card first to avoid possibly getting overcharged. Maybe that could be an option for you in case there are any glitches?
Ah, that's smart! Will follow the advice! Thank you! :)
No, but the three attempts was actually me trying to top up my credit - I always pay by store credit whenever possible, at least in part because gift cards generally have little or no discount on them, and pricing glitches are therefore much less serious. (The fact I even need to do that is indicative of a pretty poor system in which both Daz and PayPal are complicit, but I digress). In that way, no single PayPal payment should have been more than I expected, and I could wait long enough between attempts to be sure that Paypal hadn't sent me an invoice.
Once I was paying with credit, the store was slow but largely stable. (And, worst came to the worst, because I hadn't given any payment details, any overpayment would have been limited to the small excess left in my store credit).
Also wanted to add my thanks for today's sale, although it put me a bit over budget, ahem, because there were three pro bundles that leapt into my cart when I wasn't looking. ;) Although it was a bit of a fight....lots of page errors and such for about an hour and a half. Did we break it? LOL
