Wow! Two first-timers and two really great renders at that! A warm welcome to countrygirl4ya and JesterVII. Hope you enjoy your little stay at our asylum. You realize, of course, that once you start this you're not going to stop. We expect to see you every month now.
Both pieces are very impressive with the composition and the action displayed. Very much a comic book action feel to them. Very nice use of shadows and shaders. I'm beginning to see a few more possibilities using this technique.
Looks as if this contest is starting to heat up a bit. Glad I'm not entering anything more and only judging...
Nice futuristic street fight! But you forgot the required item from most-digital-creations.com. I'm sure there's something there that you can put into the scene without changing it much. It's a worthy entry.

The Beard on M4 (guy getting kicked two ways to sunday up front is from most-digital-creations.com. Or was there a certain item we had to use?

So i'm good cool TY!
(edit for gramar)That's up to the people running it, but it should be as far as i can tell. I'm not a judge.
Kewl! It would be interesting to see how it stacks against 4.0
Nice & neat & tidy ... well, in a messy sort of way. The messy that a good fight scene always brings. LG's the comic expert so I"ll defer to his wisdom but I do like how this came together.

Seems like it to me, as not only do you have the beard, but have marked it as the required item from Adams site.

Oh, OK. There is an M4 Beard here at DAZ3D, too. Since you didn't put a link, I thought it was a paid item. So, all you have to do is put the link to the item, or if it's older and it doesn't have its own page, put a link to the page, and tell how far down it is on the page. At least, that's how I understood the rules. That's an easy fix, though! ;-) Just edit your post to put the link in.

DanaThe link is in there.
Just popping by to say that the gallery is up and up to date at http://sites.google.com/site/dazfreebiecontests/home/july2012 :-)
Didn't say it's bad ;) and tastes are subjective. There is not many "hatch" renders so I guess that makes it at least interresting. What I'd like to achieve is something that looks like Bernie Wrightson's style that I find awesome. Have a look at some of his art here. There is also Rosinksky's Thorgal that I'd like to mimic with a shader. I don't know yet wether I can do that but that is in my head. I may fail but anyway I'm a dreamer
Thanks Krissy :) It seems the shader is appreciated. I may think of packing it with usable presets and release it.

Note to JesterVII
As a courtesy to your fellow forum users you need to be more clear with the links you post.
For an example Adam at most-digital-creations.com has 46 pages of free stuff for DAZ-Poser users.
The link you posted was for his ad at Renderosity.com, not his site.
What is worse, the link at Rendo is to Adam's front page not the page the beard is on.
I found the beard near the bottom of page 29.
http://www.most-digital-creations.com/free_poser_poses_textures_morphs_props_29.htm - beard 17 down
So please, in the future, be kind to your fellow DAZ-fiends and have a nice day!
Ok countrygirl4ya, you have a qualifying render. A nice action going on there and it is girls, yay!
One thing though, one of the requirements of the freebie contest is that if the site requires an account to download the freebie then we need to indicate that in our list. I use an asterisk but you can use anything you want to denote registration is required to obtain the files. I just love Terry's work. Some really nice outfits.
Check your PMs for your entry prize and welcome to the contest. Hope you will play with us for many moons.

Wow! First off, welcome to Madness, Inc otherwise known as the DAZ forums. You're obviously familiar with the way this place works and have your straight jacket on order.
Second, coming banging in with an entry right off is a new and cool way to introduce one's self. And with such an entry, too! Action on the right, suspense on the left. How's the bad guy going to react to the new developments? How much times does he have? While I'm not a big fan of comics - er, graphic novels - this makes me want to see the next panel.
From what I can see, you definitely got it right. :-)
Thanks alot, I'm not a big fan of comics either but my husband said I should enter. But thanks again :-)
Cool! Nice action. I wonder how it will turn out?
Dana
Thank you :-)
thanks, I had fun coming up with the piece even though I don't really know anything about comics.

Ouch sorry. Went with the first link I could find. I forgot all of Adams link where to the front page and not to the item.
Welcome JesterVII, for a first you sure pack a lot into your render. So many wonderful freebies and you are the first to submit a Studio4.5 cartoon render. Your render qualifies. Just one thing, for the sites that require registration we are required to indicate as such in our list of freebies. You can do it anyway you want.
Nice render lots of action and the girls are going strong. Check your PMs for your entry prize. Thanks for coming to play.
Lonnie
Thank you Thank you Mrs p.
Thank you. As you can see I still have a lot to learn about posting taking all the tips I can get...lol Cheers!!!!

Visual Style Shaders by Bishounentaurus http://www.daz3d.com/shop/visual-style-shaders/
(except the flag, I don´t know how to use a shader on it without losing the texture - any ideas?)
Postwork:
Adding text (couldn´t figure out how to add it with mjclabelizer so that the text would be positioned in the blurb properly).
Thanks Krissy :) It seems the shader is appreciated. I may think of packing it with usable presets and release it.
I second that!
Hello Proxima Shining, nice to meet you. Your render qualifies. Bishounentaurus shaders look fantastic. So what is the Mayor going to do. Looks like a "whoa, wait a minute kind of moment".
As for your two identified issues:
First one, how to keep textures and apply a shader. You hold down the cntrl and alt keys at the same time you double click on the shader. DAZ will bring up a box called Shader Preset. On the Options tab there is a box next to Map Settings: You want to select ignore. DAZ defaults to Replace unless you use the special key stroke.
For your next issue not getting the laberizer to work on the prop. I think it is because it is just a simple plane with a transmap applied. The labelizer needs an object that is more substantial than a primative plane. Better defined faces on the object. If you play around with the second set of conversation balloons I listed in the Batman and Batson render it will work. You do have to be careful not all objects are mapped the way labelizer needs it to be.
Thanks for participating. Love to see more of this story! Check your PMs for your entry prize.

That's kind of what I was trying to get at, but not so wordy. Some of his stuff has individual pages now so you can put a direct link, but I'm not sure if he started doing that before or after the beard.

I love it! Collection time!

Not to worry. I got so paranoid that I created a whole database just to make sure I got all the t's crossed and the i's dotted. I believe you would call that overkill but I keep Music happy cause he likes us to follow the rules!:cheese:
Ain't that right Mr. Musicman? Where are those pies when you need them?
Congratulations Cho dear.
:-)
Welcome Jester to the challenge. For a first entry, you did real good. I think you understand how we do this very well. This entry is a regular free for all fight...lol. Its hard to get a lot of people in a setup and get a nice render, but you did real good with it. Some great poses and placement of the characters. Some real nice freebie links also. Thanks for entering the challenge. Now start throwing some pies!!!!
:wow:
