what kinda of gas do dragons store in their innards to breath fire?
does it come from their lungs or tummies?
do dragons ever have tooth aches?

Methane.  They belch it from chambers above their stomach and ignite it with flints jammed between their teeth.  Humans do it too but it finds the other exit and we don't have an internal igniter so we have to improvise.

How do you know that humans don't have an internal igniter?  I could swear some of them do.

And how do we know that?  Fire needs oxygen.  There is no oxygen in space.  If you are looking at the Sun, that is not fire.  That is fusion, a chemical reaction, not fire.  Fire is oxidation...needs oxygen.  There are various chemical reactions that may mimic fire, may cause fire, but are not fire in themselves.

    Dana

    Fusion is a nuclear reaction.

Fire is a high speed oxidizing chemical reaction.

Chemical reactions involve only the shell of electrons of an atom.  Nuclear reactions involve the nucleus(protons & neutrons) inside the shell of electrons of the atoms.

Wikipedia says: "Fire is the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products. Slower oxidative processes like rusting or digestion are not included by this definition."

Oops, I got my terms mixed up.  Fact remains, with no oxygen, there is no fire.  But...who cares?

    Dana

I figured that you knew but just had a senior moment.  I didn't want leave the kiddies confused.devil

I've sometimes pondered about the possibility of a fire-like reaction involving an oxidizer other than oxygen.  Fluorine is pretty reactive.

Non-complaint:  Music to DAZ by:  Shostakovich: Overture to "Gadfly" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VpkMwrAZGuY Sounds like the beginning to a huge epic movie.  (3 minutes)

Shostakovich: "Festive Overture" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gDZTah8J2A  6 minutes of playful fun.

Shostakovich: 1st movement of his Piano Concerto #2 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAGPMGek5rI (8 minutes of toy terror.  This was featured in Disney's "Fantasia-II" to accompany the story of the little tin soldier.)

NonComplaint: I have some time to read one of my books in my kindle app on my iPad, but the complaint is that I am ambivalent about what to read.  There is that Wendy and Peter Pan reimagined story.  Why did I get a book called Affirm your Truth?  Right now that sounds like a lot of crap.  like Huh?   Okay back to the real options, Children Should not play with Dead Thinngs.  Sounds like good advice.  A book called Full.  Wait if I read that would I feel Full?    When did I get If I Stay?  Is Zombie Games like Hunger Games but with Zombies?  Maybe 23 Procrastination habit book?  I know Bad Habits no more?  Ooh I got a book about Dexter and his laboratory.   Oh wait wrong Dexter, right?  When did I get Don Quixote?  I want to read The Fault in Our Stars but I am afraid it would be more sad than the movie.   Maybe I can get farther into Game of Thrones? Or start on Hobbit?  Or do I want to see if I have Fellowship of the Ring first?  Which one to read first?  Then there is a book by this Brenda gal which might be interesting.   The book Sunshine does not look like it is about tea even though there is a teacup on the front.   Or is it a coffee cup?  TIme is up to read gotta go.

You should get some new books.   I have just finished re-reading the "Da Vinci Code"   and have now decided to start on "The girl with the Dragon Tattoo" next time I find some time to read.   I read proper books though.

If you ever get to them, you can (and should) read the Hobbit before the Lord of the Rings books. It comes before them, and the Lord of the Rings makes some references back to The Hobbit.

I totally agree with that comment.    Mind you I have never understood how  they managed to make more than one film from the hobbit, given how short it is compared to the 3 volumes of the main LoTR which only rated one film each.

One of my favorite authors passed in 2010.  Anything from Robert B. Parker is really good.  He wrote the Spenser books as well as the Jesse Stone and Sunny Randall books.  Most of his books are between 160 and 170 pages, fast reads, and have very good characterizations.  And he doesn't annoy the reader by spending 12 pages on the description of a single room or object.  This was what turned me off of H.G.Wells.  Too fussy to read, and quite frankly, if a room is dusty just say so.  There's no need to devote half the chapter to a discription of the dust.  sad

Complaint: Argh... my camera needs to be repaired.   Well, it has needed to be repaired for at least a year but I just kept putting it off because the problem is intermittant (has a noisy image chip) and I don't take many photos with it anymore (probably because it's brokenfrown)  It's not a cheap camera($$$).  It's small but it's a "Pro" NIkon Coolpix-P5100 and I have triple the money($$$$) tied up in accessories for it.  Full range of lenses(including 183° fisheye), microscope adapter, telescope adapter, remote control, ring light, speed flash, filters, etc. and the modern cameras in the same line don't have all the features that this 10 year old model does, meaning that to continue to take the same type of photos I'd have to switch to a full size pro camera($$$$) and repurchase all those uber-expensive lenses & adapters for the bigger camera ($$$$$)crying.

I checked at the repair page of the Nikon website but they don't list my camera in their dropdown selectionsad.  By entering my camera's serial number I did manage to convince their automated repair estimate algorithm to send me an estimate ($160) and the paperwork to submit my camera for repair.  So, I'll box it and ship it in and see what happens.  If they can't fix it, then at least I tried, and all I lose is shipping costs.  Repair by Nikon is expensive but I trust them.  Five years ago I had my 20 year old previous pro Coolpix995 camera repaired by Nikon and they did a super job on it.  It looked and worked like brand new when it returned.  Even now it still works and takes all the same lenses etc. but the resolution is much less than my 5100 and isn't satisfactory for the quality of images I produce now.

However, the problem with all these electronic cameras with specialty batteries is finding quality replacements for the battery after 20 years.  My 995 has an external power supply that I can useyes, but the 5100 doesn't support external power. no  I've got a 30 year old JVC miniature SuperVHS-C video camera ($$$$) that still works but I haven't been able to find a new battery for it for the last 15 years. (not that I really need it but it pains me to see perfectly good machines made useless)sad

KEH camera is selling a used one on Amazon for $39.00 plus tax. 180 day warranty.
I've dealt with them, they're good.

surprise Well, bust my buttons!  It's worth a try...  It's been ordered...  Getting mine repaired would be $160 repair, plus $30 shipping.  We'll see if Amazon's declared "Acceptable" status is actually acceptable.  If so, it saves me about $150.  Thanks. yes  Although I hate to abandon my own personal camera, it's in pristine condition except for the degrading image chip.  Some cameras end up looking like they've gone through hell.  Mine are pampered.

I bought a used Olympus Pen from them to use with my Canon FD lenses.
Description said "good", but there was no sign of use on it.

Keep your old one, you might need parts later.

Lots of classics free on Gutenberg Press website. Many of the old comedic stories are funnier than today's.

The "The Hobbit" is an easier read.  "Lord of the Rings" is long and involved and you miss some of the setup of people, places and events if you haven't read "The Hobbit".

"Dune" series up to "Chapterhouse Dune" is good for a deep think series.

The "Foundation" trilogy is classic sci-fi .  You keep wondering who the Second Foundation is or even it is as powerful as suspected.  Beyond the initial three books the plots stay interesting and you wonder if they will ever locate the long lost mythical place called Earth and what they'll find there after tens of thousands of years.

    Bummer.

Now time for my complaint.  Weather is nice enough to be outside but there are no outlets near me where I am sitting.  I have to move in order to charge up my computer.  My computer is at 44%.  I am at a mall which has a food court and a sitting area outside.  I am sitting outside in the shade right now.

Yep, but it doesn't have all those yucky chemicals to inhibit spoilage. And if you keep it in the fridge it will last a bit longer

I’d caution you against making medicines at home... I tried making my own anti-lycanthropy meds and it just made everything worse.
