Well, bust my buttons! That's a horse of a different color!
Or with an ending of "nite" could it possibly be a mineral like Kyanite or Tanzanite?
A bunch of people at work have been sucked into Fortnite. I don't play it so I don't get it.
As for COBOL, it's still out there. So is PL1, Fortran and, C++. But modern database and devlopment tools are making those things less and less popular. There are a lot of tools available for sucking data into databases, and you might not even need to design or code anything. I don't fear not having a job. In fact, if I were constantly being asked to do something manually, THAT is when I would start worrying. If you're part of "the machine", aka, a mere cog, then you're at risk for eventually being devalued monetarily. If you're up on things, you'll naturally be valued more.
It's actually a great time to be alive in IT, but only if you are willing to keep your skills up to date.
Why does my mom ask me questions about her computer after she turns it off?? I can't examine Microsoft Word or the Windows control panel when the computer is off.
She's testing you.
Take it as a complement! She thinks you know so much you can figure out what's wrong without actually taking a look!
Dana
She is trying to encourage you to awaken your Force powers... This is the first part of your journey to becoming a Jedi... or she isn’t aware that the computer needs to be on for you to diagnose a problem... But most likely it’s the Jedi thing.
My mum tries to have me do tech support over the phone, but sometimes she forgets to tell me key details.
Oh by the way to all the mums here, Happy mother’s Day
An audience of mums.
Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there! And to each and every ma, mama, maw, mommy, mum, and mother dear.
Dana
i have the tins of my dead buppies ashes out. not as much fun to play with. i kept their favorite squeaky toys. the sound of the squeaky toys used to be a happy sound. today the sound makes me cry. tho i'm sure they saying happy mom day from over the rainbow bridge. and u'm sure they saying, careful dont drop the tin. i never looked in the tin. brenden's is heavy, must be a chunk of bone in there
I'm still deciding whether to buy 8 GB of memory for my computer for $50. I guess the extra memory would help a little. I still have 2 GB of memory free out of the current 8 GB. Hmm.
I don't get it either, and I've tried it several times. A few times on my own, a few times with friends, and I just coudn't "get into it". Latest Fad I guess, which is likely considering how many other games are trying their hand at this genre before it inevitably loses steam.
I can see why it can be appealing, it just doesn't appeal to me personally.
I've been hearing about a game called D&D. But it's probably just a fad.
(Actually, I found myself captured by some people at my new job in Washington, DC back in 1982, who played D&D. They insisted it was "the best". However, I was totally befuddled & concluded it was silly nonsense for children and couldn't understand why these professional adults were wasting brain cells on it. Go figure.
)
I never caught the gaming disease. Well, except for the Myst series of games. I eventually bought and completed all the games in the series. I did also try a few other adventure type (puzzle solving) games but nothing compared to the Myst series (Myst, Myst Masterpiece, RealMyst, Riven, Myst-III Exile, URU, URU: Path Of The Shell, Myst-IV Revelation, and Myst-V End Of Ages) . I did get a small taste of the Myst game called URU that for a short while was multi-player but when it first came out, the server technology wasn't ready and it flopped. However, the single-player version was fun so I didn't really miss anything. A few years later when URU was revived as a multi-player version with improved server technology I tried it out but I found it awkward. I'm not really a social person and trying to make chit-chat and form teams with virtual people on the street of a fantasy city just wasn't fun. Nope, multi-player games, not my bag.
Neither are treasure hunt games nor shooter games.
I like builder games such as Galactic Civilizations III and Cities:Skylines. Puts the old Maxis and EA to complete shame. Truly, the only real limitation is my own lack of imagination. And I'm VERY imaginative! But if you like designing and building things, this might be a good one. There's also one coming out called Builders of Egypt. Similar in look and feel to Pharaoh from some years ago, only very much modernized for today's hardware. There's also Battletech. Nothing beats 80 ton Mech pounding on each other with missiles, autocannons, lasers, and machine guns until somebody's ammunition stores explode in their Mech's arm or torso.
What fun!
doh seem to have misplaced a runtime with all my mil3 clothes
poor david 3 feeling drafty
I want to use the computer lab but I do not want to use the center's computers, so I brought my own computer. I am using my hotspot and trying to find muddy water shaders for iray.
Still waiting for a good, proper recreation of Sim Earth myself. Sure there's "spiritual successor" Spore, but it's just not the same. Way, way too toned down with most of the science stuff thrown out, and it often feels less like a simulation game and more like some weird adventure game. Which I guess it was meant to be, but people keep calling it a spiritual successor to SimEarth when it really isn't.
I loved reading about the oceans and volcanoes when I was a kid, so I spent a lot of time looking at the various graphs and stuff as the world I was in evolved around me. Then there was the oddball situations that would arise, oh boy that was definitely a highlight for me! I still remember Dinosaurs warring with their Human neighbors in one playthrough, and the two Bronze Age civilizations kept at it for a while until some carnivorous plants developed sentience.
They... Didn't last too long since a volcano decided it'd be neat to erupt by their only Stone Age settlement and that was that. It also wreaked havoc on the nearby warring and the two races basically called it quits for the next century or so until they went at it again. I can't remember what happened to the humans by the end of things, but the dinosaurs eventually went on an Exodus to another solar system around the time Cetaceans were considering that it'd be fun to start playing with stone-based tools and stuff. Don't know what I ended up doing with the game after that, think I started a new round.
The original DOS game really shows its age though, and the SNES port is a liiiiiittle better but they decided to simplify some things. I don't think they say Eukaryotes for example, and Cetaceans I rememeber them saying like... Whales or something? Anyway, it was a fun game that I never really was able to get back into. Should probably take another stab at that sometime though.
While I'm playing Stellaris sometimes I keep SimEarth (And CivilizationIV) in mind while examining other planets. Particularly ones with life (Pre-sapient or developing) on it.
After EA's total screwup of SimCity 2013, I avoid anything with the name Sim in the title or Electronic Arts named anywhere within 1,000 miles of the installer. I avoid it like leprosy or the plague. Which is why I'm so amazed at how GOOD Cities:Skylines and all of the DLCs are. It's more Sim than SimCity 4 was. And Paradox doesn't force you into multiplayer or "always online", which actually meant "always waiting for my connection to a server to time out".
When EA did that, it felt like a slap; like when your mom forced you to play with your little brother even though there were lots of kids in the neighborhood in both age groups.
Oh and I loved the thumbnail for this video.
The centipede-like portrait is one of my absolute favorites, and I often play as a custom built empire with them at its center. Seeing this scene just made me squeee so much~
game wise feeling in the mood for xenosaga
My favorite “game” is a design one. I set up a figure called Genesis with clothes and hair but why are shoes so hard to find? I can also set a scene for Genesis to play in. Though I could use more food props. I wish there was a cool cat for this “game”. One built on Genesis technology preferably. I have a dachshund but I need a good squirrel.
Why is the thing I am talking about so much fun? (Edit other than watching it render. IRay renders forever it seems.)
My computer is stuck in some limbo mode. I tried to hibernate it but it is not hibernating, nor is it responsive. I have the bad habit of not saving my scenes so I do not want to turn it off unless it is last case scenario. Not sure if using a laptop in a moving van is a good idea either.
It looks like it is back up now.
Looks like my computer restarted itself meaning I lost that bloody scene.
edit that is a scene that uses that iray slime product with blood shader.
I got a text from somebody saying they need heavy lifters in my area. I am not a heavy lifter. I refuse to pour the lemonade at work because that is too heavy. I can probably do it but I explain that I am afraid I might spill it on the register or something important, so they let me not pour the lemonade unless needed and even then they still do it for me.
I need to go wash my dinner dish but I am waiting for things in the kitchen to calm down first.
I am trying to figure out how to get this bloody beast into a bloody scene. Wait is bloody scenes not allowed on the Daz forum?
SimEarth was frm 1990, long before EA got involved with their company. Also before graphics looked nice. As much as I loved the game when I was young, I have a hard time looking at it nowadays haha
I really wish someone would make a nice good modern SimEarth game. I've seen a few "similar" games but nothing that captures the depth and scope the original had.
I haven't actually tried Skylines just yet. Been meaning to but never really got around to it.
Well I shall try and be sanguine about this, but you are over using words that can be misconstrued as imprecations and as such are anathema for the forums., and then you ask if an image with overuse of the sanguineous fluid in an image is allowed. If you peruse the Forum ToS you will see that bullet point #1 does rather make it obvious that too much is definitely not a good idea and to make the image too haemetic will endanger it's length of residency on the forum
Okay, I will forgo the render and do something else. It got too weird and complicated thus not worth perusing anymore.
