  • Is anyone else getting dialup-style download speeds drom DAZ? Whether I use DIM or try to manually download from the site directly, it's like I've gone back to a 56K modem. I have broadband, I've checked my speed, and I can download just fine from other sites, but DAZ is making me wait all day.

Yep, I did a download last night that was abound 350KB/s.  Tioday when I did the Ghostlights 2 update it was 89KB/s.  I have a 100MB fiber connection that ususlly runs mid 90 both up and down and during the download, I checked my connection with speedtest and it was running mid 90 MBs while the downiad was still running at 89KB/s.  That's .08 MB/s cionnection speed.  Has to be something between me and DAZ of they are having some connection issues.  When I first got the fiber cvonnection I could download a while order in aobut a minute.  The night Monique 8 and three other items updated, It took over 3 hours and I had to restart Monique 8 because it stated the download failed.  I had noticed that is has been getting slower for a while but this last week ahs been brutal.

I wish I was getting speeds like that. I'm currently downloading through DIM at ~50KB/s. That's simply pathetic considering I'm on broadband. I currently have a help ticket about this running with Jamie. I'm hoping to resolve it. I don't experience slow downloading from any other site. Only DAZ. I'd really love to resolve it because DAZ is my first go-to for new content simply due to quality of the product.

I am getting 1.4 to 1.7 MB ... just as an information.

  • Well, it's pretty bad this morning.  Trying to download the SC Lauren for Genesis 8 Female update and oh boy is it fas this morning, a whopping 100 KB/s.  Something is broken at the DAZ servers or wot the current version od DIM.  Running trace route shows a fast connection to Daz's servers.  Seems like downloads are being throttled and speeds are being limited.

Not sure what's going on with DIM but I'm sitting here downloading MOST of my past few orders.  I was floored when I would tell it to download and install, nothing happened.  I've even looked over the settings to make sure I have the proper boxes ticked, I do.  Have the hidden box checked just in case, nothing shows.  I've had to download MOST of the Edie starter bundle, all of the MICK packs and modules, so much hair (wow, hair packs have gotten rediculously huge, bit much I think).  I'm up to 44 manual downloads.  Something is just not right here.

What about just downloading it all without installing it? I have 29 items and they all seem to be downloading.

The team informed me I needed to have more boxes checked off in DIM.. now all my downloads are showing up.  Very confusing.  I think there needs to be more work done on this manager. There is a need to be able to download PER generation or hide ALL from a specific gernation or at least that sounds nice in theory.  I have no interest in anything from the older generations and going down a list of over 4000 products and having to double check entries I'm not sure about or trying to decide if an entry ending in DS or Ps is worth downloading gets a bit time consuming.  Be nice to have an option to check one entry and then scroll down a bit and use the Shift key and click the one below and have all the entries in between be checked or unchecked... I can do this in GMail so I know the code is doable.

    Thank you!  :-)

Do you have the default Dim Filters installed? If so, click the magnifying glass icon to the left of the filter box and select Filter By name>Daz 3D Figure>desired generation.

    Ah, brilliant.  Thanks Richard!

Yes, I've had very slow downloads (in the UK) for the last 6 months. Today I can't even login using DIM to download stuff. Irritating.

If you are using BT internet in the UK, they have a habit of working on things overnight, which can screw up download speeds next day.  If it happens to me I find rebooting the router works to speed things up. Should work the same way for other ISPs

I have just tried a manual download and got almost 3MB/s   which is about as fast as I ever get as I am not in an area where I can get the superdooper fast stuff.

Thanks for that: unfortunately I'm still getting nothing after a reboot. I have logged in and selected a download in DIM, but no dice.

The DIM server appears to be having a few hiccups atm.

I'm having a little issue with DIM.  I have my path PROPERLY in place for Photoshop CC 2018 and am trying to install some of Ron's stuff.. I keep getting an error message that the path is not correct.  Uh, yes it is!  frown

    What is your path?

    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2018

  • DoctorJellybeanDoctorJellybean Posts: 9,585

That's fine, thanks. I forgot to ask as well, what are you trying to install?

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

Just Ron's packs, which I guess DIM needs the Photoshop path to do that.

  • DoctorJellybeanDoctorJellybean Posts: 9,585

Ok, I've installed Ron's Broken Glass (CC version) successfully. My path is the same as yours.

    Very strange.  Hmmph!  :-(

What I'm doing is creating a mirror set up on my laptop and my big work horse computer (which I'm writing from) so I basically REPLACED the old My Library with the new one I created on the laptop as I liked that one better.  Cleaner without all the really old generations and stuff I no longer use so just Genesis 3 and 8 and stuff from Hivewire and 'Rosity that are current as well as environments, shaders, lights and all that stuff via DIM so TRYING to keep the gigs down to a reasonable size but Ron's stuff comes in handy when I'm creating content textures in Photoshop so I picked and chose what I thought would be useful and I'll be darned if Ron's Flying Dirt and Debris Particles will NOT install.  Other's from Ron have... so not sure what's going on!

Ron's Flying Dirt installed for me.

The path is set as a Photoshop path, not a Daz Studio parg (in the Aplications tab of DIM's preferences)?

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

Hmmm, I have the Photoshop path set under the Applications tab. Not sure if I wrote that right as DIM is working right now so can't double check

Just a thought - there are installers for Photoshop CS and for CC according to the store page for Flying Dirt & Debris (I don't have that set so I'm only judging by what I read) - did you download and attempt to install the right version?

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,343

Well I'll be.  At the end of the title of the product it does clearly state Cs.  Problem solved. THANK YOU!  :-)

  • MelanieLMelanieL Posts: 7,712

    Glad that helped!

I'm currently downloading at 8.8 MB/s but then I do have a fast connection.

that's...strange. I'm not sure why mine is going so slow right now.

edit: yeah so I just downloaded new gpu drivers and they downloaded fast at 9.1mbs, and dim is still at like, 70kbs
