It crashed completly when I tried to upgrade. Now it won't run at all. Trying a fresh d/l and see if it will intall this time.
Is the application folder - C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\DAZ3DIM1 by default for Windows - accessible? Unistall DIM, then check that the folder is empty.
Seems to have updated fine for me, even memorized the install pathway correctly... thats a big plus :)
I am getting this too - when the program tried to update itself AND even after downloading DIM from the site, uninstalling the current DIM from my computer with Revo Uninstaller and using the new download to install. Same thing. Now I have no DIM.

Edit: Finally a reboot after uninstalling and before reinstalling did the trick. It installed fine then.
I upgraded to this new Version of DIM - but now DAZ Studio is complaining "A valid PostgreSQL CMS connection could not be etstabhlished". DIM seems to run fine. I reinstalled PostgreSQL from DIM but this didn't help. Same with reinstalling DIM.
Any hints for me?
That usually happens when starting DS too soon after shutting DIM down.
Thx for this idea - but unfortunately this is not the reason: I tried leaving DIM open, closing it, waited some time .. nothing helps. I'm using DS Studio now for several month - but this never happend to me ...

Do you have a product's section in Content Library pane? If it's there, CMS is working. Sometimes you get the message, but CMS is fine. If you have Reality plug-in installed, try diasble it. I had some conflict but don't remember if was in Windows or macOS.
Thx also for you - but it's defintely not running: If I look into the taskmanager normally I see multiple entries which are all PostgreSQL labeled. But now there is not one visible. There is a lot of functionality misson in DS Studio. Any additional ideas?
Which version of DS are you using?
I use the latest one - I think its 4.9.1 (I'm in the office right now ) .. Please consider: It worked fine before the DIM-Update ...
Let's do some troubleshooting first.
Depending on your OS version, look in either C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS or C:\Program Files (x86)\DAZ 3D\PostgreSQL CMS and see if it is actually installed.
Do you use a Firewall and/or Anti-Virus? If PostgreSQL is installed, temporarily disable your firewall\AV and run DS again.
I have PostgreSQL installed (I even deinstalled and reinstalled it) and of course i disabled Firewall and AntiVirus for testing this issue - nothing helps ... Is there any log-file I can look into to see what the problem is with postgre? Thanks for you help anyway!
Start DS again, and after it displays the message about PostgreSQL, click on Help - Troubleshooting - View Log File and see if it gives more details.
Here is the logfile - there are some errors, some warnings - but I have no clue if these are important ones or not - perhaps you can take a look? thanks in advance!
Ok, it looks like you have to try something else. Before you try the steps below, have a look at the history logs of your Firewall and AV, maybe they quietly blocked it. If not, then proceed.
Don't worry about losing anything, all your paths, etc, should be remembered.
Sorry - no changes. Still the same issue .. I think its getting complicated ... Any other ideas?
Try resetting the database in DS - Content Library pane menu - Content DB Maintenance. Maybe it's corrupted and preventing PostgreSQL from starting. Don't export User Data as that might be corrupt.
If for some reason you can't reset, the open the Windows Run dialog (DS should be closed), enter %appdata% and hit Ok. Browse to DAZ 3D\cms\ContentCluster and delete everything inside ContentCluster.
Wow - this helped! Thank you soo much. It seems that I lost some render settings, but this is not so important ... I'll do some more tests, but until now, everything seems to work fine ...
Thx again!
Glad to hear it is working now.
Dim just updated itself, no problem. Because the previous update (I don't think generally released) fixed a problem with showing plugins and software I thought I'd use the filter(s) to see if I may have missed something.
If I filter by type/plugins/plugin only I get some stuff, same with software.
But if I filter by combo (ie, plugin & software) I get nothing. Big fat 0 in all columns.
What is the Install Manager Default Filters that shows up for downloading after this last update?
At a guess I would say this from the update notes:
Updated default filters;

I've been having issues for the past week with DIM: It installs the items, but they do not show up in the Products tab. When I saw the update, I thought they had fixed it. So, after downloading the update, I uninstalled the items (45), and I redownloaded them, thinking that perhaps DIM had not downloaded all the metadata previously. Now the items show up in the Products tab, but they have no data, and they have ! triangles.
I submitted a
How much Daz stuff do you own? The reason I ask is because I get a little hangup as well! Between 5 to 10 min (I have alot of Daz content). I get bored fast so MY SOLUTION>>> I go watch some anime or TV show or play PC Hearts. When I get back DIM is ready to download stuff. I figured this was because I own alot Daz 3D Items and the program is 32bit and not 64bit but I could be wrong. I should also add that 30 plus Min does sound like a excessive amount of time for a program to start working. I am using Win 7 Pro 64bit with Firewall and Virus scanner on. I hear Win 10 is notorius for blocking stuff. If you are a Win 10 user this may be your problem. I would check the Firewall and Virus scanner and add Daz Studio, Dim and daz database program to exceptions. You can also Ctrl Alt Del start task manager and go to processes tab and right click DIM and raise affinty to above normal.
Grrr! The update lost all my "hidden" products (or rather it found them again) - I wondered why I suddenly had a massive list of products to download when I thought I was up-to-date.
Hi There
This was my first Error-Posting, i have never a Problem to find a Solution trought this Forum or by google
On my Graphic-PC (Win10), I updatet today DIM from 1.1.0.64 to 1.1.0.72. My last Downlad was on August 2017. Today i like to get new Freebes Item and like to download this. I started DIM, and DIM make his UpDate and restart DIM, all fine.
Since then i can't download any Content, old or fresh, with the actual DIM because this APP crashes everytime. 1st crashed with asking to making a ErrorLog and then the next creshed without any Dialog.
So, i'm think i wasn't stuppid today, i install DIM on another PC (Win10, only with Games installed) -> the same issue comes ... but i have save the Error-Log as a ZIP and have no idea how i can sending this File directly.
May, what is wrong with this DIM-Update or with me (two PC)?

@DoctorJellybean
Big thanks for your analysed and quick Answer!
Oh, a permission Error on my NAS?! Hm ... only with a update becomes this Error?
If there a INI-File to be cleared od deletet the Download-Path? Because i have this temporary corrected to a different and local Drive per example "D:\Download\InstallManager" and become the same issue .. i think i was stuppid today ...
